In all of nature there is a balance. You cannot be whole as a person until you accept
your "dark" or "shadow" side. The dark aspects of the Lady and Lord and the earth are present all
over the world. They represent the knowledge that for something to be born one
thing must die. They are present in the hurricanes, floods, tornados, forest fires, and
earthquakes. Not to say that these things should be welcomed or dismissed in anyway, but they do
need to be recognized. The dark isn't something to be afraid of. By listening to our shadow
side we can gain insight into many different situations. Sometimes our intuition,
buried under 2000 years of repression, comes out to give us insight into our lives.
spending some time in the dark. Ge accustomed to the feeling of not being able to see.
Once you have overcome your fear you can safely start to work with your dark side and tap into
its power.
There is a good mediation in Green Witchcraft II by Ann Moura having to do with
facing your fears of the dark. The whole book deals with the dark powers and safely getting in
touch with them.
