Kevin didn't know what was going on, he had just sat down to rest for a second and two hours later he was being shaken awake. He looked up at Michael, who had woken up, and noticed the grim look on his face. "What's going on?," Kevin asked still groggy.
"Madison was in a car wreck, about a half hour from here, it backed up the interstate for miles.."
"Madison?? Is she okay??"
"I don't know, the police just now called me, me and the guys, except for Nick right now, are gonna head up to the hospital.."
"Umm..okay..I'm gonna go pack some of her clothes and things.."
"Okay..meet us in the lobby in 10."
Kevin nodded on his way out, "I'll be there."
He walked down the hall and to Madison's hotel room, he opened the door and walked inside. It was exactly how she had left it, in a complete mess. Kevin smiled slightly as he remembered that her room was usually always a mess because she was always misplacing important things and then would freak when she couldn't find it. He grabbed a nearly empty duffle bag and found a drawer with her clothes in it. He looked up as the door opened and Nick walked in. "I wanna go.."
"So come.."
"I can't..my mom and dad think I should stay here..," He said sititng down on the other bed.
"Nick..you're 20 years old, come if you want."
He sighed, "I told them I'd stay tonight and then drive up tomorrow sometime and see her."
Kevin nodded, "Okay.."
"I can't believe this happened..Madison was just going to pick up my family..for me Kev.."
"I know Nick..it was just an accident..she'll be fine."
"But how do you know?! No one knows how she is..what if she's got a broken neck? What if she's a second away from dying?? What if she does die?"
"Quit with the 'what if?' thing...you're right Nick, I don't know how she is and nobody else does, but I'm trying to think positively..I don't want to lose it.."
"Well I don't either..but this..is somehow my fault Kev..she went to get them..for MY birthday.."
"Nick, she wanted to. She knows you miss your family whenever we're on tour, she knows how you get when you're away from them on a big holiday or your birthday. And she would want you to stay with your parents tonight."
Nick sighed, "Okay.."
"Good..now help me."
"Okay."
Ten minutes later, the four Backstreet Boys, Michael, and a couple bodyguards, were on their way to the Shelby Memorial Hospital, where Madison had been airlifted to.
"So, if she was airlifted there, doesn't that mean its kinda bad??," AJ whispered to Howie who was next to him.
"Not necessarily. It could of been the closest hospital, it could of been the best place to take her, we don't know."
AJ nodded, "I just hope she's okay.."
"We all do AJ."
An hour and a half later, the van pulled in front of the hospital. They all piled out and walked inside. Michael went to go find out what floor she was on, while the guys and bodyguards walked to the elevators. Michael walked to them a minute later, "She's on the seventh floor, intensive care unit."
"So it is serious??"
"I don't know..maybe."
"It has to be if she's in the ICU.," Brian said.
Michael shrugged, "The policeman said her car was hit once by another, hit a guardrail, and then went down into a ravine and hit a tree..we're lucky she's alive I think guys.."
They all grew quiet as the elevator made its ascent. Once at the seventh floor, they plied out and went to the waiting room. Michael and Kevin walked to the nurse's station to find out any information. "You didn't have to come Kevin."
"Yes I did.."
Michael nodded, "Okay."
A nice, young looking nurse looked up from her computer and smiled at the two men. "How can I help you all?"
"Well, a friend of ours, Madison Langley, was brought in here about an hour or two ago, we were wondering if you could tell us anything?"
The nurse nodded and typed into her computer, "Well, she was in surgery but about 30 minutes ago was put into her room in the ICU. All thats allowed in to see her right now is immediate family."
"Her family is thousands of miles away, we're the closest thing she has to family right now.," Kevin said.
The nurse sighed, "I hope I don't get into trouble, but..okay..wait ten minutes and I'll come get you all.."
"You can't tell us what injuries she sustained, can you?"
She shook her head, "No, I'm sorry. I'll page doctor that saw her and have him come to speak to you, okay?"
Michael nodded, "That'll be fine..thank you."
The two walked to the waiting room where Q and Gary were guarding the door.
A male doctor walked in and smiled at the group of guys. "Are you all here about Madison Langley?"
Michael decided to speak for them all, "Yes."
"Well, I'm Dr. Ford and I was the attending doctor when she was brought in. She apparently was caught in that rain storm on the highway and was hit by another car crossing the center line. She suffered a broken ankle, a sprained shoulder, three cracked ribs, a fractured wrist and finger, and a minor concussion that appears to be from her airbag."
"Thats all??"
Dr. Ford nodded, "Yes, she's very lucky. We took her into surgery right away to stop some minor internal bleeding but that was all, all her tests have come back negative and the CT scan shows everything to be normal. She's very doped up right now and will probably sleep straight through the night."
"When can she go home?," Brian asked.
"I'd say a week at the most. If you want, one at a time can go see her in a few minutes, she being transferred to a private room on the third floor, I believe its room 457."
They all nodded. "Thank you Doctor.," Michael said standing up and shaking his hand.
"No problem. Also, don't be scared at the way she looks, she's very bruised up but that should clear up in a day or two. I'd go down to 457 in about five minutes, okay?"
They all nodded, said their thank you's, and the doctor left the waitinr room.
The bodyguards escorted the guys down to the third floor and they found the waiting room there and waited till a nurse came to get them.
