For those of you that don't know me, my name is Amanda. I'm a 18 year old female from Kentucky. I have a younger sister, she's 17, and an older half-brother. He's 33 and married. And just for the record, this page is not-so-constantly under construction.
Let's see....I go to Kentucky Lake just about every weekend during the summer. I love all water sports. Swimming, kneeboarding, and skiing are GREAT. I've been swimming since before I could walk, literally, and I learned to dive and do flips off the diving board when I learned to walk. I love it.
What else, ummm.....oh, yeah, I'm a freshman in college at David Lipscomb Unversity in Nashville, TN (Go Bisons!). I am double majoring in pre-pharmacy (which will probably change to chemistry) and missions. I have answered the call to be a missionary, and when I graduate I hope to become a medical missionary somewhere in the mid-south. I do plan on going to pharmacy school, but it will be a LONG time before I get there.
Okay, enough about that. I've been a christian since I was about 6 years old, I'm a Missionary Baptist. That's the same thing as a Second Baptist. I travel to many different places with my church. We go EVERYWHERE together. During the summer of 1998, we went to Meridian, Mississippi on a World Changers mission trip. To see more about that, click here. This past summer we traveled to Charleston, South Carolina on another WC trip. I don't have that link set up yet, but I hope to have it finished soon. I love to spread the word of God. When I was in high school I was in a group called All to Thee. It's a group of about 15 teenagers from around my area that sing, put on skits, and give testimonies to many different churches, youth groups, and even schools. I love to sing. I've been singing at church with my little sister since we were REALLY small. We still sing, but we have added another voice. The three of us have started a little group called Carrying the Cross and have had two offers to record. Because of conflicts in schedules we were not able to, but hopefully we will be able to sometime in the future. We do lots of southern gospel and some contemporary christian. Now I'm involved with a group from my unversity called Fools for Christ. We travel to downtown Nashville every Wednesday night to feed the homeless and witness to them. There are great things happening through this ministry. Many people are exposed to Christ for maybe the first time, and homeless Christians who otherwise would not go to church are able to worship during our service. My grandfather was a pastor, he passed away on February 1, 1998, miss ya and love ya, Paps! I have several cousin's that are pastors now. One of them has been preaching since he was 12! Hard to believe, huh? Well, it's true. He is now the chaplain for NASCAR. I miss you, Dale!! I love the Lord, and I love learning about different religions. Even learning about why non-believers don't believe. I think that through this, I can become a more effective witness, because I know what I'm talking about. I try to never critize others beliefs, no matter what they are, because that's what being a Christian is all about: loving others.
Golly, this is getting long. I feel like I'm giving you guys my life story or something...which I am, kindof. If you read all of this, I feel for ya, you must be really, really, super bored. :o) Okay, if you've read this far, you're probably sick of hearing about me. Now look at the rest of my page and don't forget to sign my guestbook!! :o) God bless!
