The Love of My Life...UK BASKETBALL!!!
Okay, now we have reached the pinnacle of my love...
I pretty much eat, breathe, and sleep UK. Of course that may mean that I hate certain teams...
Louisville, Indiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Arizona, North Carolina, Duke,
South Carolina and even Marquette...but, ya know, it is ALL GOOD! So, feast your eyes on what it is that makes me tick!
(No, it is NOT an obsession...or is it? YOU MAKE THE CALL!)
UPDATE: Player Profiles updated(finally) on 02/24/2001! It is ALMOST Tourney Time, baby! GO Cats!!!
The Playa's Club!
- #1 Cliff Hawkins(FR) Has played exceptionally well as a Freshman backup to season Saul Smith. Can be too flashy at times, but has improved to be a steady leader when needed. As UK's future point guard, Hawkins has all the making to be a great one.
- #3 JP Blevins(JR) This Kentucky product came into the season with high expectations and hasn't really lived up to those. He has had a few nice games but really could benefit from improving his once sharp shooting, especially free throws.
- #4 Gerald Fitch(FR) Fitch has been one of the best surprsises among a Freshman class that has dramatically helped this team. His energy and heart off of the bench and his hard play have earned him praise from Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo, among others. Fitch has been a great addition to this team.
- #10 Keith Bogans(SO) Bogans has been a key member of this squad. Although he seems to be in a bit of a slump currently, he showed what he is capable of in the second half agains LSU. He is the team's second leading scorer(behing Tayshaun Prince) and could prove to be one of the nation's top 1-2 Punch with Prince.
- #11 Saul Smith(SR) UK's lone Senior, Tubby's son has had a hard road at UK and has grown from all the adversity he has faced. His heart and emotion, as well as experience, will be missed at the end of the season. He is about as solid a point guard as you will find in the nation.
- #14 Erik Daniels(FR) Another one of UK's imroving Freshman, Daniels showed scoring brilliance early in the season and is still providing scoring boosts when needed off of the bench, Should play a key role as a backup in tournaments.
- #15 Matt Heisenbuttel(FR) Rarely used guard from Lexington, Heisenbuttel is supposed to be a great shooter. Limited playing time, however, has hampered UK fans from seeing his skills on the court.
- #21 Tayshaun Prince(JR) A contender for SEC Player of the Year, Prince has come alive in the last few weeks, right when UK needed him most. Has been named SEC Player of the Week 3 times this season and with his current game, it would not be surprising if he gets a few more honors this season. UK's true leader and go-to guy, Prince is one of the premier players in the nation.
- #24 Marvin Stone(SO) Stone is one of a trio of post players who can be dangerous at times. He has a soft shot and can battle for boards with the best. Although his play is sometimes mottled with turnovers, his growth as an inside player will prove invaluable to UK come tourney time.
- #33 Cory Sears(FR) Another Frosh on this young team, Sears, like Heisenbuttel, has seen little time. As he continues with the program, hopefully fans will be able to see more of Sears.
- #42 Jason Parker(FR) The last of UK's talented Freshmen, Parker is the Cat that almost wasn't. After signing with UNC and being told he could not attend because of academic reasons, Parker signed with UK and his academics were reviewed and legitimate. Parker had some troubles early and has prospered as a starter with Stone and Estill backing him up. He has a tendency to score early but does have troubles with fouls. When he is playing his best, he is a predator in the post for UK.
- #50 Marquis Estill (SO) Estill has been a wonderful player for UK off of the bench, adding instant depth and points in the low post. Has a great touch and free throw shot. Although not highly touted ouf of high school in Richmond, KY, Estill has proven to be one of the strong weapons UK has to use in its arsenal.
