Lost in the Sea of Memories…
Chapter 3

"Mylene, don't be unreasonable," Mayor Milla yelled, "you have lost you memory"
"My memory yes, but not how to take care of myself" she yelled back. "Ray say something please!"
"You can stay at my house" Ray said wanting to stay out of the fight.
"I'm so glad you agree with me Ray" said Mylene's mother. Mylene gave Ray a mean look . "So it's settled than. Mylene you will stay with Ray till you get your memory back" click and she hung up.
"Is she always like that?" Mylene asked Ray with a defeated look on her face. Ray just nodded.
Basara and Veffidas helped Mylene move some of her stuff over to Ray's, then they all went out for dinner.
Mylene had found a nice place looking out at the stars. She sat thinking to herself *I want to remember so much! Why can't I remember?* She heard something behind her and she turned to see Ray.
"Time to go to bed Mylene you need your rest."
"Great now you're telling me what to do!" Mylene said getting up and walking to her room.
Ray walked with her, "You will remember in time don't put so much pressure on yourself "
She was about to walk in her room but she turned and said "Thanks Ray"
"Now get to bed before I get in trouble with your mother"
"Humph…that will be the least of your problems if you keep ordering me around" She said giggling and getting into bed.
Is he going to sing to me tonight? Mylene questioned herself. I do miss his voice. Mylene waited for a while then fell asleep waiting.

The next morning Mylene woke up early. She got dressed and went to sit where she was sitting last night. She thought of that place kind of like her thinking spot. When she climbed the stairs she found Basara already sitting there.
"Good morning Mylene" he said without turning around "Are you feeling alright?" He was thinking of her just seconds before.
"Yes I'm fine, why?" *why is he being so nice?*
"You've never gotten up before the sun before."
	"Oh, I didn't…"
	"It's okay"
Mylene sat down next to him. It was a beautiful crisp morning "So I take it you haven't regained you memory than?" Basara asked breaking the silence that had fallen.
"No…"Mylene slowly replied. They were both disappointed by this remark.
The sun floated up turning the sky as pink as Mylene's hair. Mylene shivered. Basara noticed and got up "Come on I'll make you breakfast."
"You cook? I thought Ray cooked for you?"
"Ray? Are you kidding me? He can't even boil water. Why do you think we went out for dinner?"
	"Oh…I didn't-"
"Remember…yeah I forgot sorry, come on before we freeze" Basara took her hand and lead her into his apartment.
She stood in amazement. *there is a whole in the middle of his apartment*
Basara turned to ask her a question then her realized she didn't remember his house. He felt his heard sink *she really doesn't remember me*
She turned around to look at him and noticed him looking sad. She wanted to ask why there was a whole in his apartment but decided to ask Ray later.
Basara broke the silence, "It'll be ready in five minutes. There is some music upstairs on the stand if you want to look at it."
"Okay" Mylene replied, with that she headed up the ladder. Mylene was deep in thought, she remembered these stairs it was "Oops!" she missed a step of the ladder and fell backwards. She screamed, Basara ran and caught her, she smiled.
"What are you smiling about you almost killed yourself?"
	"I remember"
	"What? What do you remember?"
"I remember the ladder and falling and you catching me and…"Ray walked into the room and made a funny face and left. "and Ray's goofy smile too."
Basara set her down. She ran over to Ray and apologized and explained what she remembered.
"Oh that's nice but I'm going back to bed."
	"Oh sorry!" Mylene said blushing
When Mylene walked back into the room Basara was putting food on the table. They both sat down and Basara started eating right away. "I'm sorry I'm so clumsy"
Basara looked up and thought about it a while. He nodded then went back to eating.
Mylene poked what was on her plate and asked, "What is this?"
"You don't want to know" he said not even looking up this time. She took his advice and ate it with no further questions or complaints.
Mylene was deep in thought *Why can't I remember…I need to remember…Basara needs me to remember*. They finished their breakfast in no time. "I'll do the dishes if you want." Mylene offered.
"No, that's all right, I'll do them" Basara replied.
"No! I'll do them" Mylene stated firmly.
"Fine" Basara said not even trying to argue.
Mylene took the dishes to the sink and Basara went up the ladder to play his guitar. She listened to him sing 'My Soul For You' She noticed that he had sung it with a lot of feeling at the hospital. Now it sounded like any other song. *Why is the song like this now?* she wondered.
Basara had stopped singing to think about something. *she doesn't remember me…does she remember Gamlin? If she does, she'll probably go off and marry him or something…Wait a second! Why do I care!? The skinny little brat can go marry Mr. Good soldier for all I care…*
"You stopped singing" Mylene said as she came up the ladder.
"Huh? What?" Basara asked as he was knocked out of his thought.
"I said you stopped singing" Mylene repeated.
"Oh…I was just thinking about something…" Basara stuttered.
"Well are you going to continue or think some more?" Mylene asked sitting down next to him. Basara started to sing again. Mylene let out a huge yawn. *Man, why did I get up that early* here eyelids started to drop, and she started to lean on Basara's shoulder.
Basara was surprised by her actions. *Maybe this memory loss thing isn't that bad…*
Mylene yawned again and snuggled closer to him. *Why as I doing this!?* She thought *It's almost as if I'm not myself…I don't even know this guy that well and I'm leaning on him!* But Mylene was too tired to move. Listening to him sing, she fell asleep.
Although it was still early in the morning, Basara picked her up and put her in his bed.
"Squeak!" Basara looked down it was Gubaba. He had come across the hall and up the ladder to get to Mylene. Basara picked him up and put him on the pillow besides Mylene. "Squeak!" Gubaba replied happily and snuggled close to his master.
He looked at Mylene's sleeping figure the way he had when she was in the hospital. He had done some more thinking and decided what he really needed to do now was to help Mylene recover her memory. He could sort out his feelings about her later…Wht that thought in mind, Basara didn't need to worry anymore.
