HIS FINAL DAY

His head that bowed in prayer for me
Was crowned with thorns that day,
And tears, so sad, flowed from His eyes
As silently he prayed.
His love was first betrayed that night
By a kiss upon His cheek,
And when asked to deny His God
Our Saviour did not speak.
His hands that healed the lame and blind
Were nailed for me and you,
But yet He said, "Forgive them God,
They know not what they do."
His feet that walked through Galilee
Now walked Golgotha's road.
His heart, so precious and so right,
Bore every sinner's load.
His side put forth a fount of blood
As He began to die;
His ears heard echoes in the wind
As they shouted, "CRUCIFY!"
His voice was weary as He spoke,
And darkness filled the lands,
He said, "I commend my spirit God,
Into thy loving hands."
No greater love has e'er been shown,
No stronger love could be,
Than Jesus giving us His life
On the cross of Calvary.
