WINGS

I looked to the sky
And saw with amazement,
A yellow bird flying eastward,
And upon its beak
and beneath its wings,
It carried with it
A fragment of love.

I looked again to the sky
And saw with disgust,
A raven flying westward,
And upon its beak
And beneath its wings,
It carried with it
Shards of a broken heart.

I looked northward
And I heard the lonely cry
Of the betrayed.
I looked westward and
I heard the maniachal laughs
Of betrayal.
She looks westward and
Longs for the man he used to be.
He looks eastward
And does not care.

Then, upon the wings of an eagle
From southern mountains,
Comes a healer of hurting hearts,
And upon his beak
He carries with him soothing words
For a friend in need.
And the eagle's song
Has ended her pain.
