Observer's Notes: You'll notice that the center of Orion's Nebula is just a big blob of white. This is because of the nature of the film used. In order to capture the faint, subtle wisps of nebulosity on the edges of the Nebula, it's necessary to overexpose the center. This is one area where your eye outperforms the camera. As we mentioned earlier, you can see all of the detail captured by film through a telescope, but you can also see the detail that the camera misses. The Trapezium is a group of four stars in the center of the Orion Nebula, and if you've ever looked through a telescope you'll know they are quite fantastic, and give the Nebula a 3D quality.
