In this series, the Moon continues to glide into the Earth's shadow.  In ancient Greece, lunar eclipses were seen by some as proof that the Earth was round, since they are plainly visible to the naked eye and have been observed for millenia. Where's the proof? As you can plainly see, the Earth casts a curved shadow! But the "theory" was not accepted despite this proof. In the third image, the Moon has entered the Totality phase, which occured at 11:05 pm EST. This image was a longer exposure than the previous ones, and that's why the beautiful colors are visible.
