Eric Viger Wait....here it goes, a compliment directed towards Eric Viger. The BWF would not be the same without him. Viger and Ryan Hale have provided us with some of the most heated matches in BWF history. When these two bring their disputes that arise at Ponderosa Steakhouse, their place of employment, into the wrestling ring, you can feel the mutual hate that exists between them. Viger made the biggest move of his career when he, along with DJ and Ian, formed the Trash faction. Viger and his long time partner DJ have yet to become a force in the tag team ranks. Only time will tell what these two possess. In singles, Viger has managed to claw his way into Intercontinental Title contention, despite the numerous beatings his as sustained ant the hands of Ryan Hale and various other BWF Superstars. Wilson Please...this piece of trash doesn't even deserve to be mentioned. He did wrestle in a couple of matches though so here it goes: Wilson was recruited and brought into the federation by close friend Reeve Lamb. Wilson made his debut at Sunday Night Heat and later made his second appearance in ?. The piece of trash showed up in what appeared to be a cut up shirt of his Dad's and some brown tights of his Mom's and claimed to be the Hardcore Champion. Ryan Hale put an end to that by promptly making a challenge, signing the match, and defeating Wilson. Later in the evening Wilson was involved in a Triple Threat "Kiss My Foot" match with his friend Reeve Lamb and Ian Nash. As the match drew to a close, the two buddies Reeve and Wilson had a double submission move on Ian. Its a little foggy as to which moves were actually applied, but nonetheless Ian tapped. Here is the dilemma: Ian gave up, but to whom? The referee, Danny McLindon, made a quick judgment call. It was blatantly obvious that Reeve had Ian in an excruciating submission maneuver, while Wilson might as well been tickling Ian's feet. Wilson was not happy at all with the decision and spit his gum at the ref. McLindon did not take kindly to the situation and after a verbal exchange the BWF owner Ryan Hale stepped in and fired Wilson. No loss. Rumor has it that Reeve and Wilson have had a falling out. It is also rumored that Wilson has turned in his mother's brown tights for woman's lingerie and that he can be found wrestling pillows on his living room floor.BRIAN SCHAEFER Brian Schaefer is one of only three wrestlers to compete in every event the federation has ever held. He made his debut at Royal Rumble 1997, where he made a good showing of himself until falling to a double- team by Ryan Hale and Sean Thompson. Then Brian was embroiled in a feud with Thompson after Thompson defeated him in the finals of the intercontinental championship tournament held in January 1997. The feud culminated in a career match at Wrestlemania 1, February 1998, which Schaefer lost, though his career was later reinstated. Throughout the spring and summer of 1998, Schaefer focused his time on a feud with Hale and a pursuit of the world title. Although he had many chances at the belt, including a ladder match and a first blood match, Schaefer was not successful. It was during this time, that Schaefer, after being forced out of the Four Horsemen, formed D-generation X and, through scheming with Doug Shelton, brought about the demise of the nWo. By November of 1998, Schaefer was struggling and his career was faltering. But November 1998 brought the inaugural King of the Ring tournament. After losing in his first match, Schaefer defeated Thompson and Ian Nash, Danny McLindon, and Hale in succession to become the Intercontinental Champion. After this, Schaefer was enveloped in a feud with Kevin Lowe that lasted through the end of 1998 and into ‘99. Schaefer lost the intercontinental strap to Lowe and was never able to retrieve it. By this time, though, Schaefer was recognized as a force to be reckoned with, and had refocused himself to winning the world title. At Summerslam ‘99, June 1999, Schaefer was embroiled in a triangle match with Shelton and McLindon. the winner would move on to face Hale for the title later in the card. Schaefer was a surprise winner, and gave it his all in the title match. Despite experiencing a near-crippling back injury early in the match, Schaefer eventually won and was finally successful in his dream, capturing the world title for the first time. Schaefer held the world title until August 1999, when he lost the title in the Royal Rumble. He is currently a member of the Corporation, with Hale and McLindon. OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: Schaefer was tag team partners with McLindon for nearly a year, until McLindon left the team to join with Hale. Schaefer was a multiple Slammy Award winner, winning for Best Interview, Best Feud, Best Match, Best Move, Best Faction, and Most Controversial Moment. He is commissioner of the Backyard Wrestling Federation. RYAN HALE Ryan Hale is one of only three wrestlers to have competed at every single Backyard Wrestling Federation event. He made his debut at Royal Rumble 1997, where he won the inaugural event to become the federation’s first ever World Champion. He was then embroiled in an intense feud with Brian Schaefer, defeating Schaefer many times, before losing the title in a last man standing match at Summerslam 99, June 1999. All in all, Hale held the title for 22 months, a record that many stand forever. Hale has always been an innovator. He has competed in all of the federation’s marquee match-ups (usually against Schaefer) and is the main booker, coming up with nearly all the federation’s matches and events. In addition to his world title reign, Hale won the tag team championship along with Jonathon Guess at Summerslam 98, June 1998, and has held the belts ever since (with Doug Shelton after guess’s retirement and later with Danny McLindon). Hale also won the hardcore championship from Wilson at Summerslam 99, June 1999, before losing it to Doug Shelton in a title unification match at Royal Rumble 1999. Hale has devoted most of his energies over the last half-year to ridding the federation of “trash,” single-handedly taking on many members of the trash faction in singles competition and, so far, defeating them all. Hale was the founder of the Four Horsemen and the nWo. He is the founder and current leader of the Corporation, along with Schaefer and McLindon. He is the current tag team champion, along with McLindon. He is the owner and president of the Backyard Wrestling Federation. He is a multiple Slammy Award winner, winning for Best Wrestler, Best Feud, Best Match, Best Faction, Best Costume, and others. DOUG SHELTON Doug Shelton is the last of the three to wrestle in all events. He and the other two have truly been the pillars that hold up the BWF. Besides being one of the most decorated wrestlers in the BWF, Doug has also recieved a reputation of being rather physco and brutal at times. Take for example the Sidewalk Slam on Danny at Royal Rumble '98 or the brutal assualt on three people with a baseball bat at Sunday Night Heat. However, Doug has also recieved punishment for his actions in the ring by other wrestlers who he has betrayed or attempted to end their careers. While Ryan and Brian have mostly concetrated on each other over the past two years, Doug has had the opportunity to wrestle a variety of wrestlers in the federation--many a time putting one of his many titles on the line. His brilliant career has seen him capture the European title in an eight man battle royal, with a pin over then champion Ryan Hale. Speaking of Ryan Hale, Doug became his tag partner at Summerslam '98, but injury prevented him from helping Ryan capture the tag titles. Doug and Ryan then teamed up and held the tag titles until Royal Rumble '99. Doug is the current Intercotinental Champ which includes the European and Hardcore Belts. He became Intercontintal champ at Wrestlemania 2 with a unforgettable arm-bar on then champ Kevin Lowe with only 30 seconds left. He dropped the European championship to Danny "Big Show" Mclindon the next match. However, at Royal Rumble '99 he climbed the ladder and with his grab of the belt he unified the titles all to himself. Ryan and Doug disbanded as tag champs at Summerslam'99, after Ryan introduced the Corporate team at Doug's expense. Doug then lost his shot at control of the tag titles after Ryan and Danny capture both at Royal Rumble '99. Some of Doug's moves include the sidewalk slam, reverse neck breakers, arm-bars, and use of foreign objects, among others. Doug won at the Slammys for Most Contoversial Moment, Best Faction/Group, Best Move, and Best Tag Team. Some of his personas include Kane, HBK, Edge, Sting (only at Royal Rumbles), Triple H, among others. However, hard times have fallen over Doug's career, because on August 27th 1999 Doug was fired from the BWF by Vince over trivial matters. However, in an attempt to prove he has balls the size of grapefruits Vince has given Doug a chance at reinstatement at Saturday Night's Main Event. This is Doug's main career focus for now, but is hopeful this will be the year that he finally holds the highest prize, and makes the circle complete.
