Dear Parent ( s ) ,

My name is Maria Jones. My husband and I are the parents of two visually impaired children. Kenny is 3 1/2 years old and Alicia is 1 year old. For nearly six years, we have been members of the National Federation of the Blind, the largest and most active consumer organization of the blind in the country. As members, we have had the opportunity to meet many other parents of blind children throughout the country through a division of the Federation called the National Organization of Parents of Blind Children.

The NOPBC is a national membership organization of parents and friends of blind children reaching out to each other to give vital support, encouragement and information. Recognizing the tremendous need for such an organization locally, Kentucky formed its chapter in September of last year at the NFB of Kentucky state convention.

I am honored and very proud to have been elected President of the KPBC. As president, my hope is that we are able to establish a large network of parents throughout the state, so that through the sharing of experience and concerns, we can create a climate of security, opportunity and equality in our children's lives.

Are you the parent of a visually impaired child who wants to make a difference in your child's education and daily life? Are you an educator of blind children, a blind parent, or simply interested in enriching the lives of blind children? If so, to become a member, please fill out the membership form and return as soon as possible with the dues to the address on the membership form. KPBC dues are $6 per family per year. This includes subscriptions to our local and national publications, as well as membership at large in the NOPBC. For more information, please contact me at (502)-456-4806 or toll-free at 1-888-901-5639.

Sincerely,

Maria Jones, President
