Week of July 24-30, 1999
Roofing & Siding

John with the help of Keith and Perry, despite the heat, made progress on the shingling. The work could only be done in the early morning up until 9AM and in the evening after 7 PM. The temperatures have been in the high 90's.

The heat is outrageous and the progress is now slow, but it is getting there. Keith helped John move the scaffolding to the west side of the barn. No work can be done in the evening on this side because it stays too HOT!
The overhead garage doors came in on Friday and the remaining supplies will be picked up in Lexington on Saturday.
Works starts just at sunrise. John can stay on the roof because Mary Ann gets the shingles up to the first set of roof brackets. It is a slow process, but two shingles at a time, they get there in time for John to use them. She has not really overcome the fear of walking on the plank, although she can cautiously take small steps to do the job. Alexandria comes over to "help". About one sixth of the west side is left to do.
