Chapter 3

"Get up Hailey, you're going to be late!" I hear my mother yell as she opens my door and walks in.

I rub my eyes and squint at the clock. It's 7:30. My alarms is suppose to go off at 6, but I don't remember shutting it off. "Why are you still home?"

"The electricity must have went out for a while last night, all the clocks are messed up. I just now woke up." She says, turning around and starting to leave. "You better hurry." She calls from the hall.

That's great. Only a half an hour to take a shower, get ready and be at The Flower Shop. Tossing one leg out of bed, my foot lands on my notebook. Thats when I remember him. That gorgeous angel from yesterday. I think about him in the shower, getting dressed, and all the way to work.

Candice smiles at me as I walk in. She talking to some guy and sticks her tongue out at me as he is signing a paper. "Hey girl, you're ten minutes late." She says laughing, as the guy walks out.

"I actually made pretty good time. I only got up about 40 minutes ago. Did your electricity go off last night?" I pull my name tag out of my pocket and clip it on my shirt.

She nods, handing me a folder of papers and some blank forms. "Could you fill those out for me today? Tom wants them this afternoon." Tom was our manager.

"Sure no problem. If your electricity went out, how did you wake up this morning?" I set down at a desk behind the counter in a corner.

"I have a back-up battery alarm clock," she says laughing.

"Ah, smart." I laugh and spin around in my rolling chair, looking for a pen.

A couple boring hours go by and I'm still filling out these papers. Me and Candice talk a bit, but I'm still bored to death. She asks me about 'Walker's son' and I admit to thinking, dreaming, about him constantly. Only two customers have came in. At about 12:30 the door opens, and my pen (along with my jaw) falls to the floor. My angel peeps in and walks up to the front desk. I glance back to Candice, who is standing in the back of the store, and she smiles and winks at me. I quickly jump up and walk to him. Can I speak? "May... May I help you?"

He smiles and looks down. "I was hoping you could help me pick out something small for a girl I know."

My first thought: damn. A girl? Well at least he's here and I'm definantly not going to pass this chance up. "Sure," I barely manage to get out. I can't believe the guy I have fantasized about for the past 24 hours is actually standing in front of me. I walk around to him and we begin to go through the store, looking at different plants and flowers. "What type of thing are you looking for?" I ask, wanting to stare at him so much, but not wanting him to think strangely of me.

"Oh... gosh, I don't know." He has the most beautiful voice. "What do you like?" He's asking my opinion, how sweet.

I pause a moment. Should I be truthful or pick out something I think he would like? I decide to go with honesty. "The yellow roses are my favorite."

He smiles (how gorgeous) and nods. "Yellow roses it is then. How about three small ones?"

"Alright." I can't help but grin at this amazing creature. I get the roses and some greenery to make them more attractive. Attractive? The word makes me think of this boy standing beside me. "Would you like some lace or ribbon to go around it?"

"Yeah, that sounds good. What do you think would look best?" He glances towards me, then to the rolls of ribbon on the shelves beside us.

"Um, I think the yellow and white lace would be very pretty." He nods and smiles. I get the lace and tie it around the roses. Walking to the counter, I place them in a small box and tell him how much it will be. He hands me the money and I write some things down. I notice Candice walk outside as I hand the paper to him. "Sign here please."

Before he signs he looks at me. "Thanks for your help...(he looks at my name tag, though I'm sure he's noticed it before) Hailey."

"You're welcome...."

"Taylor." He smiles.

"Taylor." I repeat after him. What a perfect name. Taylor Taylor Taylor, I say in my mind over and over. He signs his name and hands me the paper. I lay it on my folder with the papers I had been filling out.

He picks up his box. "See you around." He says, looking right into my eyes and smiling.

I smile back. "Bye." I would do anything if he wouldn't walk out that door. But he does. And I fall back onto my rolling chair. "Taylor. Taylor Taylor Taylor Taylor. Oh my sweet sexy angel Taylor." I say out loud.

After about 5 minutes of saying his name and touching the paper where he signed it, Candice walks back in. "Some boy told me to give this to you." She's holding the box I gave Taylor.

I jump out of my chair and run up to her, very confused. "What?"

She grins. "He came in this morning before you got here and asked about you. I promised I wouldn't tell."

I raise my hand to my head, shaking it. "Wait a minute... Taylor... told you to give this to me?"

"Yeah. He said you'd like it. Apparently he kind of likes you." She's laughs, handing me the box.

I'm still in complete shock. I remember his words when he came in the store... 'I was hoping you could help me pick out something small for a girl I know.' A girl he knows? He meant me... Oh my gosh. "I have to sit down."

"Mmmhmm. And that's not all. There's a note inside too." She nods pointing to the box.

I glance to her and quickly open the box. Pulling out a small piece of paper, I hold it in front of my face a minute. Could I be dreaming? I slowly unfold it and read what it says.

'Dear Hailey,
I haven't been able to stop thinking about you since I saw you yesterday. I know I don't even know you but I hope we can change that. When I was leaving yesterday, as I looked in your eyes, I felt something. I want to get to know you, so I can find out just what that something is. If you're not busy, meet me in the park when you get off work today. If you don't show up, I'll understand.
Sincerely,
Taylor'

This is absolutely unbelievable. Even in my fantasies last night, I never thought of this happening. "How does he know what time I get off work?"

"I told him." Candice answers. "But don't worry, I didn't tell him how much you've been drooling over him."

Finally, a huge smile spreads across my face. I lean back in my chair and kick my legs in the air. Waving my note around, I scream. "Oh my God!!!!!!" The rest of the day goes by really quick. I sketch 'I love Taylor' on almost everything. I can't remember when I've been so happy. Nervousness accompanies my excitement though. What on earth will I say to him? That doesn't bother me right now though. I'm too happy. Finally 4:00 comes, Candice wishes me luck, and I leave, heading to the park.
