He let go of Mamma when he saw me. We always got along so well. I bent down as he ran and embraced me. "I missed you Hailey." His yelled into my ear.
I giggled and pulled away from him. "I missed you too. Want me to show you your new room?"
"Yeah but first I gotta pee." He glanced at Mamma as she shook her finger at him. He sighed. "I mean, I need to use the bathroom."
"That's better." She said, and pointed him towards the bathroom. She glared at me as Timmy walked down the hall. "Hailey Marie Johnson..."
"Mamma, no, I can explain." Crossing her arms, she waited for me to start talking. "It was so hot... I fell asleep under a tree in the park. And then when I woke up... I'm sorry."
She nodded. "I'll let you off the hook, this time. But no more screw ups."
I smiled. "Of course not."
"So, you mean you and Taylor fell asleep under a tree?" She asked walking into the kitchen.
"Well... yeah." I didn't really wanna talk about this. I'm kinda afraid she'll change her mind and get mad or something.
"So you really do like this boy, huh? Do you want to invite him over for dinner with us tomorrow night?"
I can't believe she said that. "Yeah that would be cool." But I don't know if I'm ready for that... it just seems weird. "I might." I guess I'll mention it to Tay later.
A few hours later I lay sleepily on my bed, reading. It's hard to concentrate on my book though, my mind keeps wandering off to Tay and what happened today. It was the most perfect kiss... I can't wait to see him again. Timmy walks in and announces that dinner is ready, and I start to leave my room. That's when the phone rings. I feel my heart jump and run back to the table beside my bed and pick up the phone. "Hello?"
"Hailey?" His voice... I feel like I did when I first met him. He has the most beautiful voice. I wish he were here with me now. "Hello?"
"Yeah sorry Tay, I'm here." Oh man was that embarassing.
"So, whatcha been up to?" I feel mesmorized by his voice.
Well, I've been thinking about you. I wish I could get the nerve to say that. "Oh, nothing much."
"Was your mom mad about you not being home? When I got home I got a little worried I might have got you in trouble or something."
"Oh no, she didn't really mind. She just said not to let it happen again." That was nice of him, to worry like that. "She also said you can come over tomorrow and have dinner with us, if you want." I'm gonna feel so awful if he turns me down. He probably doesn't want to. Maybe I shouldn't have even invited him.
"Yeah that sounds like fun!" His excitement surprised me. "What time?"
Hmm... "Probably around five. I'll call you tomorrow, k?"
"Alright, cool." Ooh, I'm so excited now.
We talk a few more minutes and hang up. I eat dinner and think about tomorrow. I can't wait. Gosh, I'm a little nervous though. What if my mom embarasses me, or Timmy, I know he has some dirt on me. I have a lot more thoughts for my diary tonight. Then I can get to bed, sure don't wanna be sleepy tomorrow.
----------------
Tomorrow comes, and I find myself running around the house, fixing my hair, finding the perfect outfit etc. I spend an hour, at the least, on my hair. "What do you think Timmy?" I ask while staring in the mirrow. "Do you like this shirt?"
"Is Taylor your boyfriend?" He questions. I don't think he knows what the word 'embarassing' means.
I turn to him. I have no idea what to say. Is he my boyfriend? Well, yeah I suppose... I mean, we did kiss. But he never officially asked me. Oh... "I don't know."
He tilts his head and gives me a funny look. "You don't know? Then you should ask him."
I laugh a little. "Timmy, it's not that easy."
"Why not? Want me to ask him? I can." He sits down on my bed and picks up my notebook I've been doodling on.
"No, really, that's okay." I grab the notebook and toss it in a drawer. I don't know if he could figure out what it says anyway, but I won't take any chances.
The doorbell rings and I run down the stairs. "I got it!" I yell, making sure my mom doesn't get to it before me. I stop before opening the door, straighten my shirt and take a deepth breath. I pull it open and there stands Taylor.
"Hi." He says cheerfully.
"Hey."
Then he does something I never even thought of. He hugs me. The feeling of his arms around me makes me blush. I hug him back and rest my head on his shoulder for a minute. "Mmmmm..." He says, stepping back. "What's cooking? It smells good."
I know I'm blushing, which embarrasses me and causes me to blush more. "Spaghetti I think."
"That's sounds good." He stands there and looks down, and I smack my forehead.
"Oh I'm sorry, stupid me. Come in." He follows me inside and I shut the door. "It should be ready soon."
"Okay. Mind if I use your bathroom?"
I nod. "Sure, it's right over there." He walks in and I go into the kitchen.
"Is Taylor here?" My mom asks. I nod. "What's his last name? If you told me I forgot."
"It's Hanson." I say and she laughs.
"Taylor Hanson?"
"Yeah what's funny?" I get offended by her laughing at his name.
"You know from the band. Hanson. Those three boys." She looks serious and I get confused.
I cross my arms and lean on the table. "Oh Mamma you can't be serious. I mean, I don't know what they look like, but there's no way."
"They're from Tulsa you know." I wonder if she's trying to play a joke on me or something.
"Well... are you sure one of them is named Taylor?" This is weird...
"Honey, I swear. Why don't you just ask him." She picks up her purse and walks towards the door. "I have to run down the street to the grocery store real quick. I'll just be a second. Watch Timmy, and I'll meet Taylor when I get back."
I just nod as she walks out the door. Taylor? In a band. That Hanson band? No way. I guess it's possible. I've never really paid much attention to their music. But I can't ask him. I feel so dumb if it wasn't him, but then I'd feel dumb if it was because I didn't know it the first place.
Taylor comes out the bathroom and looks around the corner. Walking up to me he smiles. "Is something wrong?"
