Is someone hurting you?
Don't be scared into silence. Know these things:
1. You are a victim, and the abuse is not your fault.
2. You do not deserve to be treated this way.
3. If you are being burned, thrown around, bitten or hit hard enough to leave marks, you are being abused.
4. If you are not fed well enough or not taken to the doctor when you are sick, if you are locked in a room for hours or left alone at too young an age, you are being neglected.
5. If you are made fun of, called names, told you are unwanted, worthless or stupid, you are being emotionally abused.
6. If any of this is happening, find someone you trust--a relative, teacher, the school nurse or a counselor, a neighbor--and tell him or her. Ask for help!
7. Try not to be alone with any person who hurts you.
