The image above is M-42, The Great Orion Nebula. It was taken by Ross Workman using a Celestron C-11 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope @ f/6.3. The exposure was 17 minutes on Kodak PPF-400 film. This nebula can be seen with the unaided eye. It is the "fuzzy center star" of the sword in Orion the Hunter, a very popular and easily identified constellation of winter. If you have a pair of binoculars, take a look at it.
