Ravi Shankar Classical Indian music developed over 7000 years ago are based on musical scales called "ragas". They were developed to be in harmony with the rhytms of nature. Each raga was played or sung only in a certain season and at a particular time of the day, to produce a specific emotional effect in the musician and audience. It is believed that masters of music had control over not only human emotions, but nature as well. They could produce heat and rain at will.
