Samuel Adams

American Patriot & Politician

1722 - 1803

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Bedlam In Linn County

Bedlam at the Linn County Republican Central Committee.

We were told a few meetings back that, unlike other years, we would not be having our annual Christmas Party on the night of the regular monthly meeting, because:

With the Caucuses coming up, we would have to much business to take care of.

Some strange things happened between that time and the time of the December meeting of the Linn County Republican Central Committee.

Our annual Christmas party got cancelled and sequed into a party given by the Five Seasons Republican Women's Club to which the LCRCC was invited.

I find this confusing, since the Linn County Republican Central Committee voted for and budgeted for a Christmas Party.

And my reading of our Constitution is that events such as that cannot be canceled, except maybe for extreme events.

Such as the location burning down and there not being enough time to reschedule,

But I might be wrong.

I just wish I could recall when, how and if we were ever informed of this.

Oh, and the "important business" to be taken care of at the December meeting?

It seemed to have been canceled as well.

We were instead informed that the meeting itself was to last only 30 minutes.  The rest of the night was be taken up by watching the JV and main stage GOP debates.

As if none of us could look it up on the Internet, so it had to take the place of our monthly meeting.

There were some who DID want to discuss business, and they tried to amend the agenda.

That was voted down.

After a call for division was made, the chair immediately claimed that the vote was 15 to 10.  But I must admit that the Chair, Cindy Golding, is able to make lightning quick counts. I certainly was unable to keep up with her.

In any event by the time the forces of "We must adjourn at the time the agenda says" had been victorious.

There was ONE MINUTE left of the time they alotted for the meeting

Bedlam and a comical one at that,.

One hopes this is not a portent of how the Feb 1st Caucuses will be run.

I know that MY Precinct will be at the Double Tree with a total of 30 Precincts,

I am wondering how long it is going to take to check in 3 to 4000 people.

Best get there early

HERE are the locations. Check out where yours will be.

If you are not certain which Precinct you are in?

You can check that HERE

Everyone should note that one person dominated the available time for a meeting by making useless motions. 30 minutes was wasted debating the agenda and consequently the planned meeting did not happen.

This same person came to a caucus business meeting, disrupted the meeting and then emailed complaints and false claims under the secret email address for IowAlive.

This is the same person who said she wasn't going to participate in an event but wanted to complain about how it was being organized, again wasting the LCRCC's time.

Seeing as how I learned after the aforementioned caucus meeting that only one person had insisted I not be present, I have it on good authority that it is that same person who claims I "dominated" the available time for a meeting is likely the same person who was so adamantly opposed to my being at the caucus meeting.  Regardless of the anonymous commenter's identity, "everyone should note" the following:

Since I "don't do anonymous" (anonymous is for pansies,) please understand that I have no connection, including the process of providing infomation, to IowaLive.  I find their information to be completely factual, not to mention appropriately-intended, but it simply does not come from me.  Again, I don't do "anonymous."

The anonymous complainer either forgets or omits that I informed Mrs. Golding ahead of time what I thought of her slimy trick to condense the Central Committee meeting down to an inappropriate timeframe.  I also, at that time, informed her that I would be making a motion to extend the meeting.  Mrs. Golding was therefore well aware that the agenda was going to be challenged.  A good leader would have understood--and acted appropriately upon that understanding--that since they are subject to the orders of their committee, they must actually allow their committee the chance to do business.  But many of us have come to realize that Hell will export liquid nitrogen before Cindy Golding will be a good leader and put the interests and priorities of the Linn County Republican Central Committee before her own power and glory.

On another note--it's too bad that the likely commenter on this blog did not choose to act anonymously during the better part of the year 2014, when the likely commenter showered me with obscenely gratuitous flattery, even for many months after I flatly declined his awkward invitation for dinner.  Such a scenario would have only been slightly less preferable than had said person just realized right away that it was NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.

Thank you for posting those links and encouraging people to come early.  It will be important to get the expected huge turnout worked through check-in at ALL locations.
