Be Seen And Not Heard
Recently I got an Email which contained
Setting the Table (03-4-24)
Imagine being invited to dinner at the house of some friends. Because they want you to really enjoy the
meal, they have given you a preview of what’s going to be served, which includes many of your favorite
items. You sit down at the table with great anticipation for that on which you are about to dine.
But as you get seated, you notice that the hosts also place on the dinner table some items that you don’t
recognize. They explain that these are “leftovers” that they thought folks might like. A little while later,
there’s a ring at the door. It’s an anchovy pizza (lucky you). A little while later there’s another ring and
another guest has brought some carry out. What a smorgasbord, right? You feel a little obligated to try
the additional items as a gesture of “good faith” even though it may not appeal to your palate or
stomach.
This is what our central committee meeting is presently like. We attempt to “set the table” but the
menu and offerings get changed or re-directed, taking us down paths and delving into issues that could
be addressed in a much better way. We end up acting impulsively rather than with deliberation. We
compress an important matter into a small segment of time or prolong a debate to the “wearing out of
the saints”.
So, let’s “set the table” and consume what’s in front us. As Anne Fairchild aptly observed, our central
committee meeting should be primarily for reporting the work of our committees. The committees
should be doing the “groundwork” and then bring their presentation and recommendations to the
larger group. Any decisions that need to be made by the body can then be placed on the meeting
agenda and accorded an appropriate allotment of time for fair consideration.
So, what does this mean in practice? Unless it’s a motion to have an emergency adjournment (fire), let’s
work all motions, as time and circumstances warrant, through a committee. With an abundance of
counselors, an issue can be researched, pros and cons considered, and proposals and motions
formulated, resulting in great outcomes.
So, please join a committee and let’s eat!

It would appear that the desire of the New Executive Board and their Supporters is that anyone who does not belong to a Subcommittee
Or desires to bring something to the attention of the Linn County Central Committee that has not been approved by a Subcommittee
During the meetings of the Linn County Central Committee
Should Be Seen and Not Heard.
Why am I not surprised?
The Votes of the Last Officers Election had no sooner been tarried than they left the County Constitution laying in tatters on the Floor.
They immediately took over the meeting throwing away the agenda which had been voted and approved by the Body, which they had no authority to do.
Then proceded to announce that all subcommittees and chairs that had been installed by a Vote of the Body were disbanded and were to turn in their keys, Which they had no authority to do.
Since in Section VIII. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE the last sentence reads
The Executive Committee is subject to the orders of the Linn County Central Committee, and none of its acts shall conflict with actions of the Linn County Central Committee.
But did it matter that they were in violation of the Constitution of the Linn County Central Committee, over riding votes of the Body of the Linn County Central Committee? Of course not. They had won the Election and could do as they chose, Petty things like Constitutions and Bylaws are only to be followed if they agree with them. Otherwise they are to be ignored.
It seems that NOW they want everything to be run through the Subcommittees that they control and whose Chairs, they chose.

Later this summer would have marked my 20th year of involvement in the Linn County Republican Central Committee.
Over those years I have used vacation and medical days at work at my second shift job to attend meetings, giving up lucrative overtime offers on those nights. 20 years worth of forfeited overtime pay for one day per month adds up to around $50,000. I have donated my time and finances to the efforts of the committee in more ways than one.
For many years I was the county parliamentarian until I deemed it time for someone younger to take over.
For many years any month that the meeting collection did not match the fee for the room. I wrote a check to make up the difference.
When there were complaints that some did not understand Robert's Rules of Order?
I purchased materials at my own expense to hand out.
For many years I have paid the fees for county, district and state conventions for others who were on a fixed income and could not afford to go.
I have been appointed the temporary chair for caucuses. For 3 precincts the last time, once for 19.
I have funded buffets all by myself for 2 Election Parties, neither of which I was able to enjoy, the first because I was just released from the hospital after open heart surgery and could not eat anything that night, the second because I was in the hospital with Covid.
This last caucus I decided that it was time to step down as a voting member if anyone younger wanted to take up the flag.
There was. According to the state election code which states that a committee person's term "shall continue for two years and until a successor is elected and qualified.
I was no longer a voting Member of the committee. Note that also meant I was not an associate member either.
I appeared before the body per the bylaws and asked to be confirmed as an associate member. That seemed to create an intense stir and when the dust settled, my request was voted DOWN.
During the Convention I heard the charge that for 30 years some have used the rules against others. I have not been around for 30 years but my feelings have always been that those who have rules used against them are because they think they are too good to follow rules.
I do not choose to be found among the latter.
The committee has seen fit to reject my request to be an associate member.
And no, I could not be "rolled over" into an associate because I was not one before the Caucus. Without a vote of the body making me an associate, any other method will require me to compromise my principles and affirm a violation of LCRCC bylaws.
I choose not to do so.
As I have in the past I will abide by the vote of the body.
I wish it the best in the future. I have several new ways that have arisen recently where I can be of service to conservative and Republican ideals.
The Lord never closes one door but He opens another.
I look forward to what the future may bring.

The Biden administration is touting a sharp drop in migrant numbers at the southern border in the wake of the Title 42 public health order’s expiration — with an almost 70% drop in numbers bucking predictions that the floodgates would open when the order ended.
The Department of Homeland Security released statistics showing that numbers encountered by Border Patrol had dropped from historic highs of 10,000 a day last
week in the days preceding the end of Title 42 on May 11, to an average of 4,000 a day since the order expired.

Here is how it is really done.
Since Texas has closed its own border, for the most part, the illegals are channeled to major crossing areas. They line up at the crossing area and are processed and given papers…often times blank with no report dates…. by the Feds.They are then NOT COUNTED as illegal crossings. The crossings have risen to about 14,000 per day now…and immediately bussed and flown to various cities across the country…without notice. Mostly young bucks……

I might add….”A growing list of state governors are sending National Guard personnel to the U.S.-Mexico border……why is this necessary if the numbers are falling?
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Wednesday that he will be deploying approximately 100 soldiers to the Mexican border. They will be joined by approximately 21 support personnel.
Gov. Henry McMaster of South Carolina and Jim Justice of West Virginia made similar pledges of manpower to the southern border later the same day.
The deployment of soldiers to southern border regions is largely a response to pleas from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who has requested help from other states in dealing with the historic migrant crisis now into its third year.
Florida, Mississippi, Iowa, Tennessee and Nebraska are already on board with the marshaling of National Guard resources.
Tennessee announced a deployment of 100 National Guard members, while Nebraska announced the deployment of 10 state troopers.
Florida announced the availability of more than 1,100 assets and resources, including 101 Highway Patrol personnel, 200 Department of Law Enforcement officers, 800 National Guard soldiers, emergency management personnel, 17 unmanned drones and 10 vessels, including airboats.

.Hello from the border. the chaos down here is unbelievable. Our National Guard has been deployed into certain areas and we are blocking the illegals and channeling them into the areas where they can be processed.We have no control over the processing but we have successfully blocked 90 percent of the illegal entry with armed soldiers. TAC teams. And the Federal Government is taking credit for this.
However, I never thought for a minute that I would see the intentional violation of our laws by the State Department and the Homeland Defense Department. I have witnessed American officials, coordinating with the Cartels, to avoid the Texas TAC Team deployment. I have also seen, first hand, the BLANK paperwork given to illegals with no court dates assigned. I have seen, first hand, the trash cans full of wadded up paperwork and bracelets signifying which Cartel has control and the towns they are assigned to……I have seen first hand, the US Government “white busses”, with US Govt emblazoned on the side of the busses and illegals 95% single males, being put on these busses in wired off areas so media cannot take pictures, and no manifests being issued.
This is the most unbelievable thing I have ever witnessed. Everyone makes such a big deal out of J6 and no one cares what is happening down here which dwarfs anything that J6 claims. Tens of thousands of children shuffled off to nowhere and no relatives present, children being “rented” for crossings….when we catch them, the US Government transports them back across the border to be rented again….unbelievable. In my area alone, the number of families crossing the border in the last quarter…17 people out of 74,000….SEVENTEEN and the rest are single males and they are from several different countries including Russia and China….some of them carrying large sums of money dressed in clothes that no normal immigrant would have.
The only bright side to everything on the Texas border is that the crossings onto the ranches have dropped significantly. This is good to know and we do not ask questions. We leave the ranchers alone and do not require notifications any longer. They take care of their own property and there is no response from the DPS or law enforcement to the ranches unless they are specifically requested….they are not.

I ask, why should I pay for a bridge I don’t cross, a sidewalk I don’t walk on, a library book I don’t read?
Why should I pay for a flower I won’t smell, a park I don’t visit, or art I can’t appreciate? Why should I pay the salaries of politicians I didn’t vote for, a tax cut that doesn’t affect me, or a loophole I can’t take advantage of?

It is a sad state of affairs that our educational system is turning out citizens who confuse them with us.
In my mind Congressman Blum brought up one of the minor problems
To me the effect on Young Working Families has been far worse.
I was speaking to a young lady who works were I often like to eat about this,
She and her husband do not qualify for subsidies,
They had paid the fine because it was cheaper than the premiums, but you know how nasty the State can be when it does not get all the money if feels entitled to
So now they pay the exorbitant premium and have such a High Deductible that they have to pay for all their healthcare out of their own pocket.
You know for " the greater good"
As a result she told me she has to be REALLY ill before she goes to the Dr.
This was not the first young working person I have had this discussion with,
The tale is usually the same,
They had a Catostrophic Plan that was inexpensive and affordable, now not available
They now have burdensome Premiums and Deductible so High they never qualify for any assistance from their Insurance
Obamacare MADE them get Insurance under penalty of Law but it did not provide healthcare
So much for. "I make this promise to the American People, If you like your Dr and you like your healthcare you can Keep them PERIOD"
All of this done for the Greater Good.
Makes the Taste of the phrase Greater Good sour in my mouth,

The GOP will also hold the governor’s office in 33 states starting in 2017, the most in 24 years. And Republicans control both chambers in 32 state legislatures, while Democrats have control of both chambers in only California, Delaware, Hawaii, Oregon and Rhode Island.
Donald Trump had nothing to do with this state of affairs,
No Barack Obama and the Democratic Party managed all by themselves

Now you might wonder, What makes a Home Anti-Social?
Well Our City Council Woman Ann Poe can tell you that.
“We don’t like the design of the garage being the focal point of the home,” said Ann Poe, a Cedar Rapids City Council member and chairwoman of the council’s development subcommittee. “I don’t know if banning them is the appropriate term, but we have an interest in what we can do to discourage the development of snout style homes so the focal point is not the garage.”
Yes SHAME on those tacky people for making a garage a focal point of their home!!
It is OBVIOUS to the Spiritually Evolved that creatures of this sort Cannot be left to make their own decisions!!
Some view snout houses as unwelcoming, garage-lined streets as unsightly, and the design in conflict with a goal to create a walkable, bikeable community.
Myself I don't recall every being asked if I wished to live in a hive
Commute to work via mass transport and at home live in a walkable, bikeable community.
Or did I want to live in my own home and drive where I wished to.
I suppose that is something that is best decided by our betters such as Ann Poe and Bruce Nesmith,
We not being able to decide by ourself what is best for us and the Planet,
Being the Deplorable Anti=Social types that we are.

The snout design allows builders to give homebuyers more home for their dollar with larger kitchens and common areas, as well as laundry rooms, tucked behind the garage, said Randy Dostal, of Thomas Dostal Developers and past president of the Greater Cedar Rapids Housing and Building Association.
Design is dictated by the lot size, he said. The cost of ground has gotten more expensive, so lots have become narrower, he said. City zoning requirements control how far the structure must be set back from lot lines and the city is moving away from alleyways, which would facilitate a garage in back, so the garage sticks out in front, he said. It’s the most efficient, cost-effective design, he said.
And that is the CRUX
The design gives WORKING FAMILIES Better Larger Nicer Homes and Poe and Nesmith cannot abide THAT
It would interfere with their goal to create a walkable, bikeable community.,.
I mean if they let the peasants decide what kind of house they have for a home they might make the garage and their car the focal point
And forget what their places are.
What I think is that we need to REPLACE Poe and Nesmith and any other City Council Member or City Employee.
Who wants to decide for everyone else how they should live and what kiind of home they deserve
With people who can remember that they are supposed to be Public SERVANTS
And should spend their time on the necessary functions of Government and keep their Stuck Up Noses out of the Public's Private Business,
