Many people are upset with the early retirement announcement. It is definatley too earlt to retire a buddy! They haven't even hit the stores! Ty announces beanie retirement on Dec. 31st. Clubby is out and about!! Many people recieved their Clubby today!! (09/08/98) so if you ordered one, be on the look out!! I was looking at a beanie magazine that was to be issued in the near future, and Princess and Erin were both listed as retired. I would stock up on those beanies if I could. The pics of the "new Prince bear" seems like a fake to me. It was probably done on a computer. The crown on his chest looks alot like the hallmark crown. Don't get your hopes up! I've heard a rumor for a commemorative beanie. It's called Spirit the Dove, and its tag is unlike no other's. It's a circle with the two olive branches symbolizing peace, and the Ty heart logo inside the circle of branches. It should be out in the summer/spring of '99. The poem reads: When spirit soars, the gods awake, she flies through heaven, peace she makes. (7/29/98) Beanie Collectors!! Rocket will retired! It went to court Monday and Ty has to retire or rename Rocket the bluejay! Ty makes an Attic Treasures retirement!! Christopher, Gloria, Scotch, Amethyst, Ebony, Nicholas, Morgan, Fraser, Sidney, and Dickens are now "retired" I heard that they are making a beanie baby called Cupid it'd be like a sibling of "Valentino" and I heard that it is a pale pink colored bear with a heart on it's chest that has an arrow through it and a red and white ribbon around the neck!!! A retirement will happen August 1st No this is false. Nobody knows when Ty's next retirement will happen. Ty will announce the time and date on their site www.ty.com. Princess will retire on Diana's birthday or one year anniversary of her death. Both are possibilities, but again Ty only knows when Princess or any other beanies will retire. Wise and Rocket are being recalled or changed. Again these are both false! The rumor floating around is: Wise Potato Chips are suing over the name Wise and Roger Clemens who nickname is "Rocket" is suing over the name. Both are false. Yes, wise seems to be a limited time release with the date of 1998, look for him to be around only until the Dec/Jan retirement. Ty is going to be making their own tag protectors and cases. Yes, this is true. Along with Cyrk, Ty will be marketing their own brand of acrylic protection. No word on price, distribution etc... Just remember not all stories you are hear are real. Most rumors in the beanie world tend to be false. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays gave away to children Weenie the retired beanie this past weekend. A near capacity crowd of 37,194 filled Tropicana Field. Not only did the fans enjoy the Beanies but a 3-1 victory over the Oakland A's. I went to the Chicago Gift Show today and found out the new items Ty will be selling through Cyrk: 3 types of calendars will be sold each retailing for around $10. There will be a large wall calendar, a weekly calendar that you flip each week & a daily calendar which you tear off each day. Trading cards are also being sold with a pack of 9 cards retailing for approx. $2, along with a collector's card storage binder retailing for appox. $10. Finally Ty will have their own tag protectors, 10 to a bag for approx. $3. Prototypes of all the items were on display. The calendars & cards look very colorful & should be very popular. The tag protector will be very unique. It will be similar in design to the BTP type tag, however it will have a raised & embossed Ty logo on the front & have two additional flaps that are attached to the top on either side of the tag that fold down after the tags is inserted to protect the inside of the tag as well. You will be able to open the tag & still have both sides inside covered with plastic. Clubby was on display (under a locked case!) and his club logo button appears to be sewn on or glued. It looked like it was hard plastic. Attic treasures cannot be ordered again until further notice. That is about all the news...no new items except the Baby Curly plush now have patriotic sweaters. (7/28/98) The San Diego Padres Baseball team is giving away the retired beanie Waves the Whale to the first 10,000 fans 14 years and younger through the gate. Children will receive the beanie and a special commemorative card on August 14 against the Milwaukee Brewers. Game starts at 7:05 at Qualcomm Stadium. Thanks Vince for the info!! "Planet Plush Signs Sally Winey To Design Bears Planet Plush, a division of Royal Boca Publishing, Inc. is pleased to announce that they have entered into an agreement with Sally Winey to design their initial series of plush bears. The first bear in the series will be called "Windy" the Chicago bear. Windy will be introduced the first week in August at the National Sports Collectors Convention being held in Chicago from August 3-9th. Sally Winey started making teddy bears over 15 years ago. Her creations came to the attention of Ty Warner who offered the opportunity to design creations that were affordable for the everyday plush toy lover. Sally's unique designs and Ty's manufacturing and marketing skill resulted in some of the most collectible and cuddly creations ever hugged. Each bear designed by Ms. Winey will have a limited production run of 36,000 bears. The limited numbers produced will ensure the collectibility of each bear in the series. The bears will be individually numbered and authenticated using a counterfeit-proof hang-tag. Planet Plush is currently negotiating with collectible distributors across the country for the distribution of the Winey-designed bears. A complete list of distributors will be available after the "National" in August. On Sept. 6 the Cowboys plan to give away Chocolate the Moose to the first 10,000 children 14 and under. With each beanie comes a Cowboys collector's card. (7/21/98) The ultimate Beanie Prize!! (7/21/98) Beanie Mom (Sara Nelson) has accepted the position of Editor-In-Chief of a new magazine called Mary Beth's Beanie World For Kids. The magazine geared towards the younger collector will be published bi-monthly with the first issue to debut this fall. (7/19/98) Many of our readers have inquired about the new oval red stamp found on the inside of beanie tush tags. This oval stamp will now be on all beanies, not just new releases. The stamp is used for quality assurance and it tells TY which factory it was produced. Please note** the new stamp does not authenticate the beanie. Some of the new beanies have been spotted as fakes. The fakes are fairly easy to tell and they include the new stamp. Just be cautious and know who you are buying from. Many think the end of August, beginning of September or Oct 1 (just like last year) will be the next likely retirement date. This past weekend was the large gift show for retailers in Atlanta. Ty officials announced two new Ty items: A Ty BBOC Beanie Calendar A Official Ty Beanie card set (like baseball cards) tag protectors & cases These should be available to Ty dealers in the fall. Ty reps at the Gift show told many of the retailers that Puffer and Bruno would be retired. Please note** many times reps have stated inaccurate or totally false statements. I would look to pick a few extra in case they do retire in the fall. Clubby is already being sold on ebay!! As of 1:50 pm eastern the bid was at $200.00 Clubby is arriving. We have received emails from 9 different folks today that received Clubby in the mail. Spot the Dog might be brought back only as Dot! Ty might make a yellow sit-up bear with a blue ribbon around its neck named Sonny to honor Sonny Bono! There's a rumor that Erin will retire real soon because of the high demand for it It's predicted that there will be two new dinosaurs named Sheild and Terra, a new girl moose named Vanilla, and a new bear for Germany named Hans. His birthday would be the day that the Berlin Wall fell. There's a rumor that Ty retired Magic because Magic's irridescent wing fabric was too expensive. But there's wing fabric left over. So, that's why Mystic has the new horn, to use up the left-over fabric. Ty won't be ordering any more of the irridescent fabric. So, after they run out, Mystic will be retired. Hold onto your Mystics, new horn and old. They'll be worth a lot soon. It is rumored that the current Spinner the spider may be changed in the near future. The small red thread eyes that Spinner has now may be changed to larger red plastic ones, the same as the rest of the Beanies, only red. If this is true, the current Spinner will be worth more in the future. TY will be retiring Stretch the Ostritch because his ring of feathers isn't made of a safe material. TY will be replacing him with "Feathers" the Ostrich with a brand new ring of feathers. Be on the lookout! Be on the lookout for these new beanies for the Sept. releases!
