Kristin Butke was born on December 5th, 1976, in Ohio and began dancing at the age of 4 with the O'Hare Dance School in Akron. She was introduced to dance by her mother, who is Irish (Kristin's dad is German). Her older brother, Jim, is a well-known feis musician. Kristin graduated as an officer in the Air Force and played college volleyball before joining Troupe 1 of Lord of the Dance in 1997. By the end of that year, she was moved to Troupe 2. In July 1998, she was promoted to dance as Morrighan in Troupe 3 along with Catriona Hale. In 2000, she was asked to dance as Cleopatra along with Gwenno Saunders and Leighanne McKenna in Michael Flatley's 'Feet of Flames 2000' extravaganza. After the first leg of that tour, Kristin decided to leave the show and return home. She has since returned to competition and some of her highlights include a win at the 2001 North American Championships and 2nd place at the 2002 All-Irelands! Kristin is now at home and is teaching dance.
