Kate Banning is an appealing character, trying to hold together a job and single motherhood while adjusting to being a Yankee transplanted to the south. It's fun to watch her cope with her teenage daughter's first "Y'all" and the world of country music in general. And the mystery is absorbing and its solution surprising. --
