Conclusion

Congratulations to Sacred Heart for capturing their seventh L.I.T. championship, but their first since 2004.  Their previous championships were in 1976, 1986, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004.  The Valkyries were runner-up in 1974 and 2005.  Coach Donna Moir had been at the helm of Sacred Heart for five of the championships and one runner-up finish.

Also congratulations to the duPont Manual Lady Crimsons and Coach Stacy Pendleton for their second place finish and remarkable turn-around against Scott County.  On January 20th, Scott County defeated Manual 99-67 in the Kentucky Preps Plus Classic, but on January 27th Manual defeated Scott County 69-63—a 38 point difference.

This was and excellent week of competition between excellent teams with several players of star quality.  Eight of the 15 games were decided by seven points or less.  Several of the teams in this very presitigious tourney could contend for the state title in March.
