Notre Dame Academy (12-2)  vs.  Louisville Ballard (7-10)

 

Notre Dame Academy coach Cheryl Darpel started the following lineup:  5-8 So. Casey Jackson, 6-0 Sr. Nicole Dickman, 6-2 Sr. Emily Drees, Molly Johnson, and 5-7 Jr. Casey Smith.  Louisville Ballard coach Ken Smith countered with 5-11 Sr. Diamond Metcalf, 5-6 Fr. Nicole Heitz, 6-2 Jr. Jade Barber, 5-6 Sr. Petre’ Freeman, and 5-6 Sr. Teadra Elliott.

 

Notre Dame Academy held a combined scoring advantage of 35-20 in the second and third quarters to defeat Ballard 66-56.  The Pandas took advantage of Ballard miscues as they scored 32 points off 21 Ballard turnovers.

 

Notre Dame shot 44.8% from the field including two of 10 from the three point line.  The Pandas connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and held an 11-6 advantage in second chance points.  Ballard shot 40.8% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bruins connected on 10 of 12 free throws, grabbed 32 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 12 Notre Dame turnovers.

 

Nicole Dickman was named game MVP and led the victors with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and six steals.  Emily Drees also tallied 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds.  Molly Johnson also reached double figures with 11 points.

 

Jade Barber led Ballard with 16 points, seven rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Teadra Elliott also scored 16 points and added six rebounds and six assists.

Shelby County coach Sally Zimmerman started the following lineup:  5-10 Jr. Karissa Nicholson, 5-9 Sr. Amber Morrison, 5-11 Sr. Heather Axline, 5-7 Sr. Ashley Ford, and 5-5 Jr. Raechele Gray.  Fairdale coach Larry Bruner countered with 5-9 Jr. Ceira Ricketts, 5-9 Sr. Whitley Briggs, 5-9 Jr. Nicole Mills, 5-6 Jr. Brittany Wieber, and 5-6 Fr. Weynisha Mack.

 

Shelby County held on to defeat Fairdale 54-52 in a game in which Fairdale missed a late shot that would have tied the game.

 

Shelby County shot 37.3% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Rockets connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 49 rebounds, and scored only five points off 15 Fairdale turnovers.  Fairdale shot 34.4% from the field including five of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on five of 13 free throws, grabbed 27 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 23 Shelby County turnovers.

 

Heather Axline was named game MVP and led Shelby County with 15 points and 16 rebounds.  Amber Morrison added 13 points and six rebounds.  Ashley Ford chipped in with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

 

Ceira Ricketts led Fairdale with 24 points, eight rebounds, three blocked shots, and three steals.  Whitley Briggs added eight points and nine rebounds.

Fern Creek led 27-23 at halftime but Warren East exploded for 49 points after intermission to defeat the Lady Tigers 72-55.  Warren East scored 27 points off 23 Fern Creek turnovers and Fern Creek had absolutely no answer for Ashley Rainey today as she scored 35 points and pulled down 18 rebounds.

 

Warren East shot 46.2% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on nine of 14 free throws and pulled down 45 rebounds.  Fern Creek shot 37.9% from the field including only one of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers connected on 10 of 17 free throws, grabbed 35 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 19 Warren East turnovers.

 

Warren East’s Ashley Rainey was named game MVP for her 35 point 18 rebound performance.  Tiasha Briggs added 11 points and five assists.  Julie Crabtree chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.

 

Monique Reid led Fern Creek with 22 points and eight rebounds.  Sherrice Gaines added 13 points and four rebounds.  Angelina Patrick chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds.

The score was tied 29-29 at halftime but Assumption pulled away in the second half to defeat Franklin-Simpson turnovers by a score of 53-41 victory.   Franklin-Simpson was ice cold from the field in the second half as they only connected on three of 15 shots from the field and zero of six from beyond the arc. 

 

Assumption shot 39.6% from the field including only one of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Rockets connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 21 Franklin-Simpson turnovers.  Franklin-Simpson shot 41% from the field including zero of nine from beyond the arc.   The Lady Cats connected on nine of 14 from the free throw line, grabbed 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 17 Assumption turnovers. 

 

Lauren Huter was named game MVP and led the victors with 20 points and five rebounds.  Huter was six of eight from the field and eight of eight from the free throw line.  Thia Gholson added 16 points and seven rebounds.  Amanda Stovall chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.

 

Kelleshia Cook and Brittney Payne led Franklin-Simpson with 12 and nine points respectively.  Rachel Swisher only scored five points but pulled down 11 rebounds.

Therese Montano, and 5-8 Sr. Shawna Culver.

 

Mercy Academy took a 48-22 lead at the end of three quarters and cruised to a 57-44 victory over Perry County Central.   Mercy scored 23 points off 27 Perry County Central turnovers, recorded 17 steals, and held a 24-0 advantage in bench scoring. 

 

Mercy Academy shot 36.7% from the field including four of 22 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on nine of 19 free throws and pulled down 35 rebounds.  Perry County Central shot 36% from the field including only one of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Commodores connected on seven of 12 from the free throw line, grabbed 42 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Mercy turnovers. 

 

Katie Wiedmar was named game MVP for Mercy, scored eight points and pulled down seven rebounds.  Malisa Cruz led the Jaguars with 11 points, seven rebounds, and six steals.  5-7 Jr. Lara Protenic and Therese Montano added 10 and eight points respectively.

 

Kristen Madden led Perry County Central with 22 points, 18 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Heather Sturdivant added 18 points and six rebounds.

Lindsay Highbaugh.  Iroquois coach Al Northington countered with 5-9 So. Adia Mathies, 5-5 So. Stefonia Taylor, 5-8 Fr. Victoria Brown, 5-5 So. Kayla Hickman, and 5-5 So. Asia Mathies.

 

Iroquois led 42-34 after three quarters and pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Hart County 74-53.   Iroquois scored 24 points off 22 Hart County turnovers and held a 17-4 advantage in second chance points. 

 

Iroquois shot 39% from the field including four of 19 from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and held an 18-8 advantage in bench scoring.  Hart County shot 34% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.   The Lady Raiders connected on 18 of 24 from the free throw line, grabbed 38 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Iroquois turnovers. 

 

Adia Mathies was named game MVP and led Iroquois with 23 points and 10 rebounds.  Kayla Hickman added 15 points and 5-11 Sr. Tiffany Simmons chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds.  Stefonia Taylor recorded eight points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.

 

Megan Isaacs led Hart County with 18 points and 14 rebounds.  Candace Wilson and Lindsay Highbaugh added 10 and nine points respectively.  Lindsey Burd only scored two points but pulled down nine rebounds.

Sacred Heart connected on 12 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off Henry Clay and capture a 54-50 victory.  Sacred Heart shot 40.9% from the field including one of seven from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 17 of 21 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 30 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 37% from the including zero of five from beyond the arc.   The Lady Devils connected on 10 of 19 from the free throw line, grabbed 36 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 27 Sacred Heart turnovers.

 

Elizabeth Campbell was named game MVP and led Sacred Heart with 22 points including 10 of 10 from the free throw line, pulled down 11 rebounds, and recorded five steals.  Sarah Askin added 10 points.

 

Gwen Rucker led Henry Clay with 15 points, six rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Brittany Coles added seven points and five rebounds.

Scott County shot 49.3% from the field including six of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 21 of 28 free throws and pulled down 50 rebounds.  Manual shot 34.7% from the field including only two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 15 of 28 free throws, grabbed 49 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 17 Scott County turnovers.

 

Kayla Moses was named game MVP and led Scott County with 37 points and six rebounds.  Rebecca Gray recorded a triple double with 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.  Holly Milburn chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Brillia Garr recorded 11 points and seven rebounds.

 

Brittany Wilson led duPont Manual with 22 points and 12 rebounds.  Avery Jones added 15 points and 12 rebounds.  Danielle Woodmore chipped in with 14 points.
