2007 Kentucky Girls Middle School State Tournament

Twenty-eight teams will compete or the championship this year.  Twenty-two of the teams have a play-in game Friday, and all teams plus Bate, Bath County, Webster County, Clay County, Metcalfe County, and Meece will be placed in the tournament bracket.  Single elimination play begins Saturday.  Team trophies will be presented for first place through third place and an All-Tournament team will be selected.

The teams competing for the championship this season are Southern, Lincoln County, Madison, Beaumont, Elkhorn, Bryan Station, Whitley County, St. Patrick, Lebanon, McCreary County, Walton, Jessie Clark, Dorton, Wayne County, Knox County, Rose Hill, Bernheim, Hopkinsville, Elkhorn City, Martin County, Pikeville, and Twenhofel.

Emily Fox and Hannah Harris led Lincoln County with 11 and nine points respectively.   Katie Pippen and Peyton Hisel led Southern with eight and six points respectively.

Gabriela Bowling led the victors with 11 points.  Chrystal Miller and Larryn Brooks added nine points each.  Kyndall Lanter and Kierra Muhammad led Beaumont with five and four points respectively.

Ashli Mayes led Elkhorn with 23 points.  Brittany Sims and Labianco Frazier led Bryan Station with 12 and seven points respectively.

Katelyn Yeary, Chelsea Douglas, and Allison McKay led the victors with 13, 12, and 11 points respectively.   Brimm led Whitley County with 11 points.

Cheesman, Evans, and Clinkenbeard led the victors with 19, 10, and 10 points respectively.   Abbie Bowling led Jessie Clark with six points.

Sharika Gregory led Knox County with 21 points.  Holli Disney added 10 points.  Kaylynn Gambill led Rose Hill with 22 points.

De'Sherica Edwards led the victors with 12 points.  Ashlee Cole, Deseree Davis, and Annia Williams added nine, eight, and eight points respectively.   Kayla Riggs and Seaera Minyard led Bernheim with 12 and eight points respectively.

Katelyn Newsome led Martin County with 16 points.  Fraley and Webb led Elkhorn City with 10 and eight points respectively.   Fraley connected on three three point baskets.

Conclusion

Congratulations to Lebanon for their impressive championship over some good competition this weekend.  Lebanon won their five games by an average victory margin of 37 points per game.  Tourney MVP Breanna Elder was equally impressive as she averaged 23.6 ppg and shattered the single game scoring record.  Congratulations to all the teams and players who put in an excellent effort this weekend.  Several of these young ladies are destined for future stardom.
