Berea  (15-9)  vs.  Madison Central  (19-9)  (Girls)

 

Berea coach Jerry Bingham started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Chelsea Saylor, 5-7 Sr. Brittany Harris, 5-11 Sr. Elizabeth Horn, 5-7 Jr. Brooke Hazelwood, and 5-6 So. Rachel Wilder.  Madison Central coach Robbie Cooksey countered with 5-11 8th grader Ashton Feldhaus, 5-10 So. Jenna Cornelison, 5-10 Jr. Brislyn Sizemore, 5-6 Sr. Lyndsay Jones, and 5-5 Jr. Christina Ciolek.

 

Madison Central raced out to a 17-2 lead after the first quarter in a 67-38 victory over Berea.  Madison Central shot 42.1% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 22 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 23.1% from the field including one of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pirates connected on 19 of 28 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off 17 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Christina Ciolek led Madison Central with 12 points and six rebounds.  Jenna Cornelison added 11 points and seven rebounds.  Thirteen Madison Central players cracked the scoring column.

 

Brittany Harris led Berea with 12 points.  Rachel Wilder and 5-7 Sr. Haley Webb added eight points each.  Elizabeth Horn recorded six points and nine rebounds.

Berea coach Bill Smallwood started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Bo Brewer, 6-0 So. Nathan Vaughn, 6-4 Sr. Ryan Smith, 6-0 Jr. Jeremy Hamilton, and 5-11 Fr. Ben Miller.  Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. countered with 6-1 Sr. Keshawn Simpson, 6-2 Sr. Vince Clay, 6-1 Sr. Jaquentin Jenkins, 6-0 So. Brenton Covington, and 5-7 Sr. Tyler Mays.

 

Madison Central had a 24-3 advantage in three point points in a 72-45 victory over Berea.  Madison Central shot 34.7% from the field including eight of 22 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 14 of 25 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 28 points off  25 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 45.9% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Pirates connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored four points off eight Madison Central turnovers.

 

Brenton Covington led Madison Central with 14 points including two three point baskets.  Vince Clay added 13 points including three three point baskets and pulled down eight rebounds.  Keshawn Simpson chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds.  6-2 So. Nick Ford recorded 10 points.

 

Ryan Smith led Berea with 13 points and eight rebounds.  Jeremy Hamilton added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Model coach Steven Minter started the following lineup: 5-8 Fr. Tara Hill, 5-6 Jr. Shelby Schneid, 5-7 Sr. Beth Williams, 5-5 Jr. Olivia Pennington, and 5-7 Jr. Shelby McNeely.  Madison Southern coach Brian Cunigan countered with 5-5 Sr. Rachel Evans, 5-8 So. Mary Mullins, 5-10 Sr. Brittany Calhoun, 5-4 Fr. Jessica Helton, and 5-4 Sr. Liz Hogwood.

 

Madison Southern defeated Model by a score of 51-45.  Madison Southern shot 30.4% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 51 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 17 Model turnovers.  Model shot 23.3% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on 14 of 29 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 21 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Liz Hogwood led Madison Southern with 18 points, five rebounds, and six assists.  Brittany Calhoun added 15 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Jessica Helton chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.  Mary Mullins recorded seven points and 11 rebounds.

 

Shelby McNeely led Model with 20 points including two three point baskets and pulled down six rebounds.  Shelby Schneid added 14 points and six steals.

Dennis Smith.  Madison Southern coach Shane Buttry countered with 6-0 So. Chad Wheaton, 6-4 Jr. Joey Wallace, 6-3 Jr. Jimmy Freel, 5-8 Jr. Chastain Schneider, and 5-9 Jr. Carrington Roberts.

 

Madison Southern outscored Model 22-4 in the second quarter on their way to a 73-39 victory over Model.  Madison Southern shot 46% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 21 of 35 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 18 Model turnovers.  Model shot 26.9% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on nine of 17 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 18 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Carrington Roberts led Madison Southern with 27 points including three three point baskets.  Roberts also pulled down seven rebounds.  Joey Wallace added 14 points and seven rebounds.  6-0 So. Aaron Ponder chipped in with nine points and 10 rebounds.

 

Gabe Cormney led Model with 15 points.  Michael Daniel added nine points.

Madison Southern coach Brian Cunigan started the following lineup: 5-5 Sr. Rachel Evans, 5-8 So. Mary Mullins, 5-10 Sr. Brittany Calhoun, 5-4 Fr. Jessica Helton, and 5-4 Sr. Liz Hogwood.  Madison Central Robbie Cooksey countered with  5-11 8th grader Ashton Feldhaus, 5-10 So. Jenna Cornelison, 5-10 Jr. Brislyn Sizemore, 5-6 Sr. Lyndsay Jones, and 5-5 Jr. Christina Ciolek.

 

Madison Central scored 45 points off 33 Madison Southern turnovers in an 81-28 victory.  Madison Central raced out to a 22-2 first quarter lead and was never threatened in this contest.  Eleven Lady Indians cracked the scoring column in this game.

 

Madison Central shot 46.5% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and held a 39-1 advantage in bench scoring.  Madison Southern shot 22.7% from the field including one of three from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 17 of 26 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored five points off 10 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Jenna Cornelison led Madison Central with 15 points and six steals.  Christina Ciolek added 12 points. Ashton Feldhaus, 5-4 Jr. Laura McKune, and 5-10 So. Deseray Miller added nine points each.

 

Brittany Calhoun led Madison Southern with 12 points and seven rebounds.  Liz Hogwood added eight points.

Madison Central scored 35 points off 26 Madison Southern turnovers in a 64-39 victory.  Madison Central shot 38.2% from the field including five of 19 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on seven of 15 free throws and pulled down 46 rebounds.  Madison Southern shot 35.6% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on four of 11 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored nine points off 14 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Keshawn Simpson led Madison Central with 18 points and 13 rebounds.  Vince Clay added 14 points including four three point baskets.  Brenton Covington chipped in with eight points and six rebounds.

 

Carrington Roberts led Madison Southern with 19 points including two three point baskets and pulled down six rebounds.  Joey Wallace added 10 points and six rebounds.
