Lexington Catholic  (9-9)  vs.  St. Joseph’s Academy (MO)  (14-4)

 

Lexington Catholic coach Tony Talbott started the following lineup: 5-8 Fr. Octavia Wilson, 5-11 So. Alex Botkin, 5-11 So. Liz Walton, 5-5 Sr. Meghan Cawood, and 5-6 Sr. Anna Gayle Scott.  St. Joseph’s coach Julie Goessling-Matheny countered with 5-11 Sr. Katye Nash, 6-1 So. Maddie Stock, 6-3 Fr. Sydney Stipanovich, 6-1 So. Morgan Stock, and 5-11 Jr. Kate Ruppe.

 

St. Joseph’s outscored Lexington Catholic 22-6 in the second quarter in a 66-50 victory.  St. Joseph’s held a 51-33 advantage in rebounds.

 

St. Joseph’s shot 42.1% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Angels connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 51 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 31.7% from the field including four of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on eight of 15 from the free throw line, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 18 St. Joseph’s turnovers.

 

Maddie Stock led the victors with 16 points including two three point baskets.  Morgan Stock added 14 points and seven rebounds.  Sydney Stipanovich recorded 12 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocked shots.

 

Alex Botkin and Meghan Cawood led Lexington Catholic with 12 points each.  Anna Gayle Scott added nine points and six rebounds.

Mercy Academy scored 31 points off 26 Paul Dunbar turnovers in a 61-43 victory.  Mercy shot 40% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Jaguars connected on four of 10 free throws and pulled down 44 rebounds.  Paul Dunbar shot 32.7% from the field including only one of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 20 Mercy turnovers.

 

Ellen Sholtes led Mercy with 15 points including two three point baskets.  Malisa Cruz added 13 points and six rebounds.  Therese Montano chipped in with 10 points, five assists, and four steals.  Juliann Miller recorded nine points and 11 rebounds.

 

Ebony Rowe led Paul Dunbar with 26 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Courtney Haney added eight points.

Alexis Stallard, and 5-6 Jr. Heather Wheat.

 

Lexington Catholic defeated Butler by a score of 56-44.  Lexington Catholic shot 44.4% from the field including zero of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 25 Butler turnovers.  Butler shot 28.1% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Bearettes connected on nine of 22 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 26 Lexington turnovers.

 

Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 18 points, five assists, and five steals.  Alex Botkin added 10 points and nine rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Lexi Mullikan chipped in with nine points and Liz Walton recorded eight points and 11 rebounds.

 

Aareon Smith led Butler with 10 points and nine rebounds.  Alexis Stallard added 10 points including two three point baskets.  Moriah Corey chipped in with seven points and 10 rebounds.

Bullitt East scored 22 points off 20 Owensboro Catholic turnovers in a 54-50 victory.  Bullitt East shot 30% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Chargers connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds and attempted 21 more shots (60-39) than Owensboro Catholic.  Owensboro Catholic shot 41% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Aces connected on 15 of 28 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Bullitt East turnovers.

 

Kayla Thacker led Bullitt East with 28 points including three three point baskets.  6-2 Jr. Lindey Young added 14 points and five rebounds.

 

Becca Greenwell led Owensboro Catholic with 28 points and 14 rebounds.  Kaley Robertson and 5-4 Fr. Leah Greathouse added eight and seven points respectively.

Sacred Heart Academy defeated Bryan Station by a score of 55-51.  Sacred Heart shot 40.8% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 12 of 26 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Bryan Station turnovers.  Bryan Station shot 28.6% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Defenders connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 18 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Bryan Station held a 29-4 advantage in bench scoring.

 

Morgan Clemons led Sacred Heart with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Maddie Peabody recorded 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Annamarie Campbell added 10 points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Mary Gordon Stough chipped in with nine points.

 

6-0 Jr. Amber Crumbie led Bryan Station with 14 points and five rebounds.  5-7 Fr. Serena Sandusky added nine points.  Alesha Prince chipped in with eight points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Mercy Academy outscored St. Joseph’s by a combined score of 31-16 in the second and third quarters in a 63-52 victory.  Mercy shot 40% from the field including eight of 18 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 21 St. Joseph’s turnovers.  St. Joseph’s shot 40.9% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Angels connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 21 Mercy turnovers.

 

Emily Goetz led Mercy with 12 points and six rebounds.  Malisa Cruz added 12 points including three three point baskets and pulled down five rebounds.  Ellen Sholtes recorded 10 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.  Juliann Miller also reached double figures with 10 points.

 

5-10 Fr. Erin Nelson and Morgan Stock led St. Joseph’s with 14 points each with Stock recording four three point baskets.  Sydney Stipanovich added 12 points.  Kate Ruppe chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.

April Wilson.

 

Manual scored 30 points off 29 Mt. Notre Dame in a 57-40 victory.  Manual roared out of the gate and took a 35-12 lead at halftime.  Manual shot 44.9% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 10 of 11 free throws and pulled down 30 rebounds.  Mt. Notre Dame shot 28.6% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Cougars connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 23 Manual turnovers.

 

April Wilson led Manual with 12 points, four assists, and four steals.  Kayla Styles added 11 points and eight rebounds.  Lauren Bodine chipped in with nine points.

 

5-6 Jr. Cassie Lastivka led Mt. Notre Dame with 11 points including three three point baskets.  Raeshaun Gaffney added 10 points.

Marion County held on down the stretch to defeat Christian Academy of Louisville by a score of 54-51.  Marion County shot 35.8% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 12 of 23 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 CAL turnovers.  CAL shot 41.7% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Centurions connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 16 Marion County turnovers,

 

Makayla Epps led Marion County with 22 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.  Bre Elder added 16 points and 11 rebounds.

 

Antonita Slaughter led CAL with 18 points including two three point baskets.  Casey Marshall and Allison Karst added eight points each.
