2011 Republic Bank Holiday Classic (Girls)

This event will be set up a little different this season.  There will be twenty-four teams divided into eight pools with three separate championships; Gold, Silver, and Bronze bracket champions based on your seeding after three pool games.  The pool assignments are as follows: Pool A: Casey County, Christian Academy of Louisville, and Scott County.  Pool B: East Carter, Manual, and Simon Kenton.  Pool C: Ballard, Lincoln County, and Owensboro Catholic.  Pool D: Boyd County, Sacred Heart, and St. Joseph WV.  Pool E: Christian County, Lexington Catholic, and Seneca.  Pool F: Butler, Central, and Monroe County.  Pool G: Hart County, Mercy, and Murray.  Pool H: Assumption, Meade County, and Ryle.

Ten of the top twenty-five teams in the Lexington Herald-Leader pre-season preview are entered in this tournament.  They are #2 Manual, #5 Mercy, #7 Butler, #8 Ryle, #11 Lincoln County, #13 Sacred Heart Academy, #14 Monroe County, #15 Lexington Catholic, #16 Scott County, and #24 Assumption.  Note:  The Louisville Courier- Journal has Manual ranked at the top spot.

Many of the top players in the state are scheduled to play in this event.  Nine of the top twenty-five players in the Lexington Herald-Leader pre-season preview are featured in this tournament.  The players are #3 April Wilson (Manual), #6 Jenna Crittendon (Ryle), #8 China Dow (Christian Academy of Louisville), #12 Caylan Bybee (Monroe County), #13 Kayla Styles (Manual), #15 Kara Wright (Manual), #20 Javonna Layfield (Ballard), #21 Lindsey Burd (Hart County), and #25 Emily Fox (Lincoln County).

I will attempt to provide a capsule report for each game with expanded coverage given to each game I personally view.  Spelling of players names varies from program to program and sometimes the height of the players vary or are not provided so I apologize for any inaccuracies.
