Marion County  vs.  Lexington Catholic (Girls)

 

Marion County coach Trent Milby started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Logan Powell, 5-9 Sr. Bre Elder, 6-1 Jr. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, 5-7 Jr. Patrice Tonge, and 5-11 Jr. Makayla Epps.  Lexington Catholic coach Chelsea Chowning countered with 6-0 Sr. Alex Botkin, 6-0 Sr. Emily Johns, 6-0 Sr. Elizabeth Walton, 5-8 Sr. Bonnie Rhule, and 5-9 Jr. Octavia Wilson.

 

Marion County outscored Lexington Catholic 19-2 in the second quarter to take control of the game in a 49-28 victory.  Marion County held a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds and scored 24 points off 20 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Marion County shot 33.3% from the field including seven of 26 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on two of four free throws and pulled down 41 rebounds.  Lexington Catholic shot 28.2% from the field including two of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on four of five free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Marion County turnovers.

 

Makayla Epps led Marion County with 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, and five steals.  Epps connected on three three point baskets.  Kyvin Goodin-Rogers added 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Patrice Tonge chipped in with nine points and four steals.  Logan Powell pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Alex Botkin led Lexington Catholic with 12 points and three steals.  5-4 Jr. Sarah Cawood added six points on two three point baskets.  Elizabeth Walton pulled down six rebounds.

Wolfe County  vs.  Sayre

 

Wolfe County coach Robert Creech started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Sawyer Denniston, 6-3 So. Corey Conway, 6-3 Sr. Steven Graham, 5-11 Sr. Tyler Hayes, and 5-10 Jr. Dylan Creech.  Sayre coach Ted Hall countered with 6-2 Sr. Reid Freeman, 6-2 Sr. Phillip O’Rourke, 6-6 Jr. Ray Brewer, 6-0 Jr. Duncan Courtney, and 6-0 So. Justin Sanders.

 

Sayre raced out to a 41-18 halftime lead on their way to a 71-58 victory over Wolfe County.  Sayre shot 55.3% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line.  The Spartans connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 15 Wolfe County turnovers.  Wolfe County shot 37.8% from the field including four of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Wolves connected on 20 of 22 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 20 Sayre turnovers.

 

Reid Freeman led Sayre with 19 points and five assists.  Freeman was six of eight from the field including three of three from the three point line, and four of four from the free throw line.  Ray Brewer added 15 points and 16 rebounds.  Justin Sanders recorded 13 points , five assists, and four steals.  Phillip O’Rourke chipped in with 12 points.

 

Sawyer Denniston led Wolfe County with 19 points, six rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Denniston was 11 of 12 from the free throw line.  5-11 Jr. Jacob Gilbert and 6-0 So. Hayden Stone added eight points each.

Harrison County  vs.  Lincoln County

 

Harrison County coach Mike Reitz started the following lineup: 6-2 Jr. Jordan Martin, 6-2 So. Dillon Pulliam, 6-4 Sr. Caleb Ford, 5-8 Jr. Jordan Stubbs, and 5-11 Jr. Scott Kendall.  Lincoln County coach Jeff Jackson countered with 6-1 Fr. Jacob Conway, 6-3 Sr. Micah Ward, 6-3 Jr. Luke Hill, 5-8 Sr. Trenton Edgington, and 5-9 Jr. Carl Lewis  Cummins.

 

Lincoln County connected on 11 of 22 three point attempts in a 60-41 victory over Harrison County.  Lincoln County shot 53.3% from the field including 11 of 22 from the three point line.  The Patriots connected on one of three free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 12 Harrison County turnovers.  Harrison County shot 43.2% from the field including four of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Thorobreds connected on five of 11 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored three points off six Lincoln County turnovers.

 

Jacob Conway and Carl Lewis Cummins each scored 16 points and four three point baskets to lead Lincoln County.  Luke Hill added 13 points and six rebounds.  Trenton Edgington dished out nine assists.

 

Dillon Pulliam led Harrison County with nine points and seven rebounds.  Caleb Ford also scored nine points.

Sylvan Hills (Arkansas)  vs.  Lexington Catholic

 

Sylvan Hills coach Kevin Davis started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Larry Ziegler, 6-1 Sr. Trey Smith, 6-5 Sr. Devin Pearson, 5-9 Sr. Dion Patton, and 6-5 Sr. Archie Goodwin.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-6 Sr. Patrick Keller, 5-10 Sr. Ross Muncy, 6-9 Jr. Jack Whitman, 5-10 Jr. Dillon Avare, and 5-10 Sr. Bryan Woomer.

 

Lexington Catholic defeated Sylvan Hills 75-71 in an overtime thriller.  Lexington Catholic shot 51% from the field including 10 of 25 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 12 Sylvan Hills turnovers.  Sylvan Hills shot 38.7% from the field including nine of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Bears connected on 14 of 17 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 16 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Jack Whitman led Lexington Catholic with 25 points and four blocked shots.  Whitman was eight of 10 from the field including one of one from the three point line and eight of 12 from the free throw line including some clutch free throws down the stretch.  Dillon Avare added 18 points on six three point baskets.  Patrick Keller chipped in with 13 points.  6-6 Jr. Tom Banahan recorded 12 points and nine rebounds.  Banahan was four of four from the field and four of four from the free throw line.  Bryan Woomer dished out nine assists.

 

University of Kentucky signee Archie Goodwin led Sylvan Hills with 37 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.  Goodwin was 12 of 32 from the field including four of 12 from the three point line and nine of 10 from the free throw line.  Devin Pearson added eight points and seven rebounds.  Trey Smith and Dion Patton also scored eight points each.

Northeast (Tennessee)  vs.  Lafayette

 

Northeast coach Al Cooper started the following lineup: 6-8 Sr. Alex Poythress, 6-3 Sr. Myron Poydras, 6-2 Sr. Jaylen Baker, 5-10 Sr. Michael Pardue, and 5-6 Jr. Anthony Longstreet.  Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III countered with 6-7 Jr. Ethan Burlingham, 6-8 Jr. Nick Trisko, 6-8 So. Jackson Davis, 6-3 Jr. Tranard Chester, and 6-0 So. Lance Blakley.

 

Northeast defeated Lafayette by a score of 78-68.  Northeast shot a sizzling 62% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 22 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 46.6% from the field including 10 of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on four of 11 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 Northeast turnovers. 

 

University of Kentucky signee Alex Poythress led Northeast with 42 points which included several crowd pleasing dunks and pulled down seven rebounds.  Poythress was 14 of 23 from the field including one of four from the three point line and 13 of 19 from the free throw line.  6-5 Jr. Darius Brown added nine points, six rebounds, and seven assists.  Michael Pardue chipped in with six points, eight assists, and five steals.

 

Tranard Chester and 6-7 Jr. Charles Sweatt-Washington led Lafayette with 12 point each. Sweatt-Washington connected on three three point baskets.  Jackson Davis added 11 points, six rebounds, three blocked shots, and three steals.  Nick Trisko chipped in with 10 points and Lance Blakley recorded six points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
