The Girls Louisville Invitational is sponsored by Republic Bank/Coca-Cola and will feature 12 teams from Louisville and four invited teams from different areas of the state. The 2009 event was cancelled due to weather conditions. The first day will feature Jeffersontown, Male, Ballard, Eastern, Christian Academy of Louisville, Pleasure Ridge Park, Assumption, and Bullitt East. Manual, Sacred Heart Academy, Butler, and Mercy Academy will play the winners on the second day. Madison Central, Perry County Central, Marion County, and South Oldham will make an appearance in the quarterfinals. The semifinals and finals will be played on Saturday January 28th .
Tuesday January 24th
Male vs. Jeffersontown
Male coach Jeff Sparks started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Brittinee Jones, 5-7 Sr. Katie Watson, 5-9 Sr. Andrea Owen, 5-6 Jr. Jasmine Kraft, and 5-4 Sr. Taylor Messex. Jeffersontown coach Stephanie Kemp countered with 5-8 Sr. Kendall Downing, 5-5 Sr. Danielle Betts, 5-11 Jr. Daphne Brown, 5-6 Sr. Ashley Boyd, and 5-6 Jr. Cristy Calderon.
Jeffersontown held Male to 26.5% from the field and blocked nine shots, all by 6-4 8th grader Krystaline McCune in a 48-32 victory. Jeffersontown shot 47.5% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Chargers connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Male turnovers. Male shot 26.5% from the field including zero of seven from beyond the arc. The Lady Bulldogs connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored six points off 16 Jeffersontown turnovers.
Danielle Betts and Ashley Boyd each recorded 14 points for Jeffersontown. Kendall Downing added six points and six rebounds. Krystaline McCune recorded two points, five rebounds, and nine blocked shots.
Brittinee Jones led Male with seven points and seven rebounds. Katie Watson added six points, four rebounds, and four steals. 5-7 Fr. Taylor Jackson also recorded six points. Andrea Owen chipped in with six points and four rebounds.

Ballard raced out to a 29-8 first quarter lead on their way to a 64-46 victory over Eastern. The Lady Bruins scored 36 points off 27 Eastern turnovers. Ballard shot 39.7% from the field including three of six from the three point line. The Lady Bruins connected on 11 of 19 free throws and pulled down 35 rebounds. Eastern shot 44.% from the field including three of six from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Ballard turnovers.
Dre’a Matchen led Ballard with 18 points and seven rebounds. Alex Martin added 13 points, five assists, and five steals. Maddie Martin chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds. Ki’Ana Richardson recorded eight points and 10 rebounds.
Jade Spaulding led Eastern with 19 points including two three point baskets. Jalin Abernathy added 10 points and six rebounds.

Christian Academy of Louisville defeated Pleasure Ridge Park by a score of 63-42. CAL shot 41.8% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line. The Lady Centurions connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 18 PRP turnovers. PRP shot 32% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Lady Panthers connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored six points off seven CAL turnovers.
China Dow led CAL with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. Paige Gardner added 13 points including three three point baskets. Katie Shaheen chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets.
Kelsey Adwell led PRP with 16 points and eight rebounds. Paige Murphy added 10 points. Rachel Fox chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets. Rayven Shead pulled down 10 rebounds.

Bullitt East shot 25% from the field including three of 18 from beyond the arc. The Lady Chargers connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 21 free throws, and scored 21 points off 33 Assumption turnovers. Bullitt East attempted 23 (56-33) more shots from the field than Assumption.
6-6 Fr. Nora Kiesler led Assumption with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Katie Friedrich added 11 points. Morgan Foley and Brandy Hunter recorded eight points each.
Nikole Isabel led Bullitt East with 11 points. 5-10 Fr. Kylee Willis and Emily Fryman added eight points and seven points respectively.

Leasia Wright and 5-8 Jr. Destony Curry led Manual with 10 points each. April Wilson added eight points and four steals. Kayla Styles chipped in with six points and nine rebounds. 6-0 So. Tabitha Mitchell recorded seven points.
Ashley Boyd led Jeffersontown with 17 points. 6-4 8th grader Krystaline McCune added five points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.

Ballard shot 39.6% from the field including zero of five from beyond the arc. The Lady Bruins connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 21 Sacred Heart turnovers.
Kristin Matula led Sacred Heart with 14 points on seven of seven from the field. DaiJia Ruffin added 13 points.

Christian Academy of Louisville defeated Butler 63-58 in a game that featured 11 lead changes and eight ties. Butler raced out to a 17-7 lead in the first quarter but CAL rallied to lead 21-17 at the end of the quarter. Butler outscored Cal 17-9 in the second quarter to lead 34-30 at halftime. The score was tied 47-47 at the end of three quarters and CAL outscored Butler 16-11 in the final quarter.
CAL shot 45.1% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Centurions connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 22 Butler turnovers. Butler shot 38.9% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc. The Bearettes connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 23 CAL turnovers.
China Dow led CAL with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals. Chalisa Helm added nine points. 6-0 So. McKenzie Campbell chipped in with eight points and six rebounds.

Manual took control of the game early and defeated Madison Central by a score of 78-53. Manual shot 56.9% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Lady Crimsons connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 43.1% from the field including four of eight from beyond the arc. The Lady Indians connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored six points off eight Manual turnovers.
Kara Wright led Manual with 17 points and nine rebounds. April Wilson added 16 points, seven assists, and four steals. Leasia Wright also recorded 16 points.
Kristin Congleton led Madison Central with 15 points and eight rebounds. Larryn Brooks added 11 points including two three point baskets. Ashton Feldhaus chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.

Kayla Rankin scored on a put back basket with one second on the clock to give Perry county Central a 78-77 victory over Sacred Heart Academy. Perry County Central led 50-39 but Sacred Heart rallied to take the lead before Rankin’s last seconds heroics. Perry County Central shot 54.3% from the field including three of seven from the three point line. The Lady Commodores connected on 25 of 27 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 22 Sacred Heart turnovers. Sacred Heart shot 54.9% from the field including seven of 14 from beyond the arc. The Valkyries connected on 14 of 24 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 22 Perry County Central turnovers.
Kendall Noble led Perry County Central with 28 points, four rebounds, five assists, and six steals. Noble was eight of eight from the field and 12 of 14 from the free throw line. Kayla Rankin added 18 points and eight rebounds including 10 of 10 from the free throw line. Whitney Back chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets. Katelyn Smith recorded 11 points and six rebounds.
Jade Tubb led Sacred Heart with 30 points including seven three point baskets. Tubb was nine of 13 from the field including seven of 10 from the three point line and five of seven from the free throw line. Tubb’s seven three point baskets tied a Scared Heart school record. DaiJia Ruffin added 17 points, seven rebounds, and five steals. Raven Merriweather chipped in with 14 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

The Lady Knights connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 18 CAL turnovers. CAL shot 45.5% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc. The Lady Centurions connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Marion County turnovers.
Makayla Epps led Marion County with 23 points including five three point baskets, five rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers added 13 points and five rebounds. Patrice Tonge recorded 12 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
China Dow led CAL with 18 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. 5-8 Sr. Paige Gardner added 14 points.
