Butler (12-6)  vs.  Withrow (OH) (12-2)

 

Butler coach Larry Just started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Aareon Smith, 5-9 Jr. Alexis Stallard, 5-10 So. Danielle Lawrence, 5-3 Sr. Cora Moore, and 5-7 Sr. MacKenzie Martinez.  Withrow (OH) coach Kamilah Cunningham countered with 5-10 Sr. Lauren Drew, 5-8 Jr. Brie Starkey, 6-1 So. Montrail Roberts, 5-8 Sr. Iyanna Lee, and 5-7 Sr. Brittnay Dozier.

 

Withrow (OH) led 33-28 after three quarters but Butler outscored Withrow (OH) 15-4 in the final quarter to earn a 43-37 victory.  Neither team could find the range from the field as Butler shot 26.5% and Withrow shot 25.5% including 19% in the second half.  Withrow led 31-23 in the third quarter but Butler rallied to outscore the Lady Tigers 20-6 the rest of the way.

 

Butler shot 26.5% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 23 Withrow turnovers.  Withrow shot 25.5% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Butler turnovers.

 

Aareon Smith led Butler with 21 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Smith was six of 11 from the field including one of two from the three point line, and eight of eight from the free throw line.  Alexis Stallard added 11 points.

 

Iyana Lee led Withrow with 13 points.  5-7 Jr. Alexxus Paige added seven points.

Manual coach Stacy Pendleton started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Kara Wright, 5-8 Sr. Lauren Bodine, 6-1 Jr. Kayla Styles, 5-7 Sr. Leasia Wright, and 5-8 Sr. April Wilson.  Ryle coach Patti Oliverio countered with 5-11 Sr. Jenna Crittendon, 5-10 Jr. McKell Oliverio, 6-0 Sr. Whitney Dixon, 5-6 Jr. Dawn Johnson, and 5-7 Sr. Tyianna Douthit.

 

Manual’s defense scored 37 points off 25 Ryle turnovers and was able to slow down Ryle star Jenna Crittendon in a 65-47 victory over the Lady Raiders.  Manual shot 49.1% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on seven of 13 free throws and pulled down 30 rebounds.  Ryle shot 40% from the field including six of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Raiders connected on nine of 10 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 16 Manual turnovers.

 

Kara  Wright led Manual with 22 points and seven rebounds.  Wright was 11 of 17 from the field.  April Wilson added 13 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and seven steals.6-1 So. Tabitha Mitchell chipped in with nine points.

 

McKell Oliverio led Ryle with 16 points.  Jenna Crittendon added nine points, seven rebounds, and four steals.  Dawn Johnson chipped in with seven points, five rebounds, and four steals.

St. Joseph led 28-23 at halftime but Mercy outscored the Lady Irish 37-18 in the second half to earn a 60-46 victory.  Mercy shot 37.5% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 13 of 23 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 18 St. Joseph turnovers.  St. Joseph shot 30.9% from the field including 10 of 35 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Irish connected on two of two free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Mercy turnovers.

 

Whitney Hartlage led Mercy with 18 points including four three point baskets.  Courtney Roush added 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Kayla Richardson chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds, and four assists.  Christine Roush also scored nine points and pulled down five rebounds.

 

Rachel Lee led St. Joseph with 16 points including four three point baskets and six rebounds.  Griffin Dempsey added 12 points on four three point baskets.  Asia Petitte chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds.  Mychal Johnson recorded five points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.

Owensboro Catholic coach Ray Zuberer started the following lineup: 5-9 Fr. Destiny Howard, 5-7 So. Haley Garvin, 6-0 Sr. Mary Kate Clemens, 5-4 Sr. Laura Riney, and 5-4 Jr. Leah Greathouse.  Bullitt East coach Chris Stallings countered with 5-9 Sr. Nikole Isabel, 5-9 Sr. Ashley Duvall, 5-9 So. Courtney Pfister, 5-4 So. Emily Fryman, and 5-7 So. Taylor Blain.

 

Bullitt East led 44-32 early in the fourth quarter but Owensboro Catholic finished the game with a 14-0 run to claim a 46-44 victory.  Owensboro Catholic shot 41.9% from the field including two of six from the three point line.  The Lady Aces connected on eight of 20 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 19 Bullitt East turnovers.  Bullitt East shot 30.2% from the field including three of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Chargers connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 25 Owensboro Catholic turnovers.

 

Destiny Howard led Owensboro Catholic with 18 points and nine rebounds.  Leah Greathouse added 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals. 

 

Emily Fryman led Bullitt East with 13 points.  5-6 7th grader Lindsey Duvall added nine points and four steals.

Ryle defeated Sacred Heart Academy 53-49 in overtime.  Ryle shot 34% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 21 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Sacred Heart shot 35.1% from the field including zero of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Valkyries connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Ryle turnovers.

 

Jenna Crittendon led Ryle with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.  Crittendon shot 10 of 16 from the field including two of two from the three point line and eight of 10 from the free throw line.  Dawn Johnson added 12 points.

 

DaiJia Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 26 points and 10 rebounds.  Ruffin was 10 of 17 from the field zero of one from the three point line and six of eight from the free throw line.  Erica Walsh pulled down eight rebounds.

Mt. Notre Dame led 23-20 at halftime but Lexington Catholic rallied for a 54-46 victory.  Lexington Catholic shot 34% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 19 of 32 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 23 Mt. Notre Dame turnovers.  Mt. Notre Dame shot 43.2% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cougars connected on five of 13 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 24 points including 10 of 12 free throws, seven rebounds, and six assists.  Alex Botkin added 12 points, eight rebounds, and six steals.

 

Alex Santamaria led Mt. Notre Dame with 11 points and six rebounds.  Maddie South added nine points.  Andrea Evers chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.

St. Joseph defeated Butler by a score of 52-47.  St. Joseph shot 43.6% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Irish connected on 12 of 25 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 24 Butler turnovers.  Butler shot 43.9% from the field including nine of 18 from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on two of three free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 18 St. Joseph turnovers.

 

Mychal Johnson led St. Joseph with 21 points, six assists, and seven steals.  Dashia Foster added 10 points and nine rebounds.  Asia Petitte chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.

 

Alexis Stallard led Butler with 12 points on four three point baskets.  Aareon Smith added eight points and six rebounds.  MacKenzie Martinez recorded eight points, four rebounds, and six assists.  Danielle Lawrence chipped in with seven points and six rebounds.

Withrow defeated a cold shooting (21.1% from the field and 47.4% from the free throw line)  Marion County team. by a score of 42-36.  Withrow shot 35.7% from the field including zero of three from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on 12 of 20 from the free throw line, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored eight points off 13 Marion County.  Marion County shot 21.1% from the field including three of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on nine of 19 from the free throw line, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Withrow turnovers.

 

6-1 So. Montrail Roberts led Withrow with 13 points and 15 rebounds.  Brittnay Dozier added 10 points and six rebounds.  Alexxus Paige chipped in with nine points.

 

Kyvin Goodin-Rogers led Marion County with 13 points and 13 rebounds.  Makayla Epps and Bre Elder added eight points each.

Mercy Academy defeated Perry county Central 71-61 to hand the Lady Commodores their first loss of the season.  Mercy outscored Perry County Central 24-11 in the second quarter to gain control of the game.  Mercy shot 44.6% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 20 Perry County Central turnovers.  Perry County Central shot 47.8% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Commodores connected on 15 of 29 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Mercy turnovers.

 

Whitney Hartlage led Mercy with 22 points including five three point baskets.  Kayla Richardson added 18 points and four assists.  Christine Roush recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Courtney Roush chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.

 

Kayla Rankin led Perry County Central with 31 points and 12 rebounds.  Rankin was 12 of 17 from the field and seven of 11 from the free throw line.  Katelyn Smith added 10 points.  Kendall Noble recorded six points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.

Twinsburg led 35-33 after three quarters but Manual rallied for a 51-46 victory.  Manual shot 40% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 16 of 24 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Twinsburg turnovers.  Twinsburg shot 32.8% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on four of five free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 15 Manual turnovers.

 

Kara Wright led Manual with 14 points including two three point baskets.  April Wilson and Leasia Wright added 13 and 11 points respectively.  Kayla Styles recorded eight points and 14 rebounds.

 

Malina Howard led Twinsburg with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Leah Fechko added eight points, six rebounds, and five assists.  Ashley Morrissette chipped in with seven points and six rebounds.
