The All “A” Classic started in 1980 with eight teams and in 1990 became a true statewide championship with 16 boys regional tournament winners competing for the championship. Champions crowned to date are 1980 Covington Holy Cross, 1981 Bellevue, 1982 Carlisle County, 1983 Walton-Verona, 1984 Oneida Baptist, 1985 Harlan, 1986 Muhlenberg Central, 1987 Covington Holy Cross, 1988 Bardstown, 1989 Central City, 1990 University Heights, 1991 University Heights, 1992 Lexington Catholic, 1993 Dilce Combs, 1994 Harlan, 1995 Harlan, 1996 University Heights, 1997 Lexington Catholic, 1998 University Heights, 1999 University Heights, 2000 Newport Central Catholic, 2001 Glasgow, 2002 University Heights, 2003 St. Henry, 2004 Hazard, 2005 University Heights, 2006 Bardstown, 2007 Bishop Brossart, 2008 University Heights, 2009 Shelby Valley, 2010 Shelby Valley, and 2011 Betsy Layne.
Thursday January 27th
Webster County (Region 2) vs. West Carter (Region 16)
Webster County coach Jon Newton started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Taylor Turner, 5-11 Sr. Jacob Scott, 6-4 Jr. Dan Boswell, 5-8 Sr. Clay Putnam, and 5-11 Sr. Blake Major. West Carter coach Jeremy Webb countered with 6-2 Jr. Kyle Brown, 6-2 Sr. Travis Duvall, 6-4 Sr. Derek Lawson, 5-11 Sr. Kyle Cundiff, and 6-0 Sr. Cody Stamper.
West Carter led 40-39 after three quarters and pulled away in the final quarter for a 61-51 victory over Webster County. West Carter shot 60% from the field including one of six from the three point line. The Comets connected on 18 of 24 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 13 Webster County turnovers. Webster County shot 45.7% from the field including one of nine from beyond the arc. The Trojans connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 West Carter turnovers.
Derek Lawson led West Carter with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Lawson was nine of 10 from the field and five of eight from the free throw line. Travis Duvall added 11 points. Kyle Brown and Kyle Cundiff chipped in with nine and eight points respectively.
Jacob Scott led Webster County with 21 points. Taylor Turner added 14 points and seven rebounds. Clay Putnam chipped in with six points and six assists.

Chase Bradley hit a layup with 22 seconds left in the game to give Heath a 47-45 victory over Betsy Layne. Betsy Layne led 16-5 early in the second quarter but Heath rallied to lead 25-20 at halftime. Heath shot 47.6% from the field including two of eight from the three point line. The Pirates connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 11 Betsy Layne turnovers. Betsy Layne shot 34% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Bobcats connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Heath turnovers.
Drew Winkle led Heath with 16 points. Jacob Jett added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Chase Bradley chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets.
Peyton Case led Betsy Layne with 17 points including two three point baskets. 6-0 Fr. Dustin Rogers added nine points including two three point baskets.

Bardstown defeated Lexington Christian Academy by a score of 58-46. Bardstown shot 44.7% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line. The Tigers connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored six points off nine LCA turnovers. Lexington Christian Academy shot 30.4% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 14 Bardstown turnovers.
Devonte Grundy led Bardstown with 12 points and six rebounds. Anthony Myrks also scored 12 points. Cody Ramos added 10 points. Jordan Brewer recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Taylor Blair and Tyler Harville led Lexington Christian Academy with 11 points each. 6-2 Sr. Travis Branham added 10 points.

The Scotties connected on 19 of 22 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 12 McLean County turnovers. McLean County shot 42.9% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc. The Cougars connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 10 rebounds, and scored nine points off eight Glasgow turnovers.
Jalen Sublett led Glasgow with 20 points and five rebounds. Sublett was six of seven from the field and eight of nine from the free throw line. Parker Cash added 18 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Lajuan Smith pulled down 11 rebounds.
Jacob Revlett led McLean County with 13 points. Lucas Murray added 10 points on four of five from the field and two of two from the free throw line.

Jake Burger led Holy Cross with 23 points and eight rebounds. Antonio Campbell added 18 points, 17 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Josh Hildebrand led Barbourville with 27 points including seven three point baskets and six rebounds. Tanner Broughton added eight points and four assists. Steven Rudd pulled down eight rebounds.

Owen County defeated Buckhorn by a score of 55-37. Owen County shot 45.7% from the field including three of nine from the three point line. The Rebels connected on 20 of 27 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Buckhorn turnovers. Buckhorn shot 34.2% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Owen County turnovers.
Jarrod Ball led Owen County with 12 points including two three point baskets. 6-3 8th grader Carson Williams added 11 points and six rebounds. Zach Ripy chipped in with nine points and Sawyer Williams recorded eight points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Matt Day led Buckhorn with 21 points and five rebounds.

Louisville Collegiate defeated Bishop Brossart 57-52 in overtime. Bishop Brossart’s Drew Burns hit a shot with 10 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and Louisville Collegiate missed a shot at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. Collegiate shot 46.8% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line. The Titans connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Bishop Brossart turnovers. Bishop Brossart shot 48.8% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc. The Mustangs connected on six of seven free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored eight points off 12 Collegiate turnovers.
Andrew Steggeman led Louisville Collegiate with 18 points including two three point baskets and seven assists. Ryan Perry added 12 points and five rebounds. 6-0 Jr. Will McAnulty recorded 11 points. David Keyer chipped in with eight points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.
Justin Saunders led Bishop Brossart with 11 points. 6-5 So. Drew Burns added 10 points on five of five from the field. Joe Jennings chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots. Austin Trentman recorded six points and eight rebounds.

The Admirals connected on 13 of 22 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored six points off six DeSales turnovers. DeSales shot 28% from the field including five of 25 from beyond the arc. The Colts connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Admiral turnovers.
Tryston Ford led Danville with 19 points. Rob Caudill added nine points. Devonta Alcorn pulled down seven rebounds.
Evan Bingham led DeSales with 12 points and six rebounds. Cameron Duncan scored 12 points on four three point baskets. Nathan Roush chipped in with 10 points. Will Reddington pulled down nine rebounds.

Heath utilized their triangle-and-2 defense to slow down West Carter’s offense early to gain a 17-6 lead on their way to a 48-42 victory. Heath shot 44.1% from the field including two of five from the three point line. The Pirates connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored five points off nine West Carter turnovers. West Carter shot 35.6% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. The Comets connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Heath turnovers.
Jacob Jett led Heath with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Drew Winkle added 13 points. Javin Bell chipped in with eight points, four rebounds, and three assists.
5-11 Jr. Dustin Black led West Carter with 12 points including two three point baskets. Cody Stamper added 10 points and seven rebounds. Derek Lawson pulled down 11 rebounds.

Devonte Grundy led Bardstown with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Anthony Myrks added 14 points and four assists. 6-3 Sr. Drew Starks chipped in with 10 points.
5-11 Jr. Steely Harris led Glasgow with 15 points including three three point baskets. Parker Cash added 10 points. Lajuan Smith pulled down nine rebounds.

Cody Ramos led Bardstown with 14 points, six rebounds, and five blocked shots. Jordan Brewer added 14 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Anthony Myrks recorded 11 points, four rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Jacob Jett led Heath with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Drew Winkle added nine points.

Covington Holy Cross coach Erik Goetz countered with 6-1 Jr. Christian McClendon, 6-1 Sr. Jared Fortner, 6-8 Jr. Antonio Campbell, 5-11 Sr. Travis Thompson, and 6-2 Sr. Jake Burger.
Covington Holy Cross defeated Louisville Collegiate by a score of 69-49. Holy Cross shot 64.3% from the field including two of six from the three point line. The Indians connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 25 Louisville Collegiate turnovers. Collegiate shot 42.2% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc. The Titans connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 24 Holy Cross turnovers.
Antonio Campbell led Holy Cross with 16 points, nine rebounds, four blocked shots, and three steals. Jake Burger also scored 16 points including two three point baskets. Christian McClendon added 12 points.
Bryce Overstreet led Louisville Collegiate with 17 points and five rebounds. Andrew Steggeman added 14 points. David Keyer chipped in with six points and seven rebounds.

Covington Holy Cross vs. Bardstown (Championship)
Covington Holy Cross coach Erik Goetz started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Christian McClendon, 6-1 Sr. Jared Fortner, 6-8 Jr. Antonio Campbell, 5-11 Sr. Travis Thompson, and 6-2 Sr. Jake Burger. Bardstown coach James “Boo” Brewer countered with 6-4 Jr. Devonte Grundy, 6-2 Sr. Justin Hubbard, 6-5 Sr. Cody Ramos, 5-8 Sr. Anthony Myrks, and 6-2 Sr. Jordan Brewer.
Jake Burger banked in a three pointer at the buzzer to give Holy Cross a 52-51 victory over Bardstown to claim the championship. Bardstown led 42-30 after three quarters but Holy Cross outscored the Tigers 22-9 in the final quarter to earn the win. Athony Myrks scored a layup with two seconds left in the game to give Bardstown what looked like at the time a 51-49 victory.
Holy Cross shot 36.8% from the field including three of 17 from the three point line. The Indians connected on seven of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 20 Bardstown turnovers. Holy Cross attempted 17 more shot (57-40) from the field than Bardstown. Bardstown shot 45% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Holy Cross turnovers.
Jake Burger led Holy Cross with 18 points including two three point baskets. Antonio Campbell added 12 points and 14 rebounds. Jared Fortner and Christian McClendon chipped in with eight and seven points respectively.
Anthony Myrks led Bardstown with 17 points, four assists, and four steals. Jordan Brewer added 13 points including two three point baskets. Justin Hubbard and Cody Ramos each pulled down nine rebounds.
