Bullitt Central (21-8)  vs.  Mercy Academy (25-5)

 

Bullitt Central coach Bryan Bates started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Kaitlyn McKnight, 5-7 Jr. Kristen Collins, 5-11 Sr. Seaera Minyard, 5-3 Jr. Kayla Riggs, and 5-3 Jr. Kristyn Harned.  Mercy Academy coach Mark Evans countered with 5-10 Sr. Christine Roush, 5-9 Jr. Victoria Dircksen, 5-11 Sr. Courtney Roush, 5-7 Jr. Kayla Richardson, and 5-7 Jr. Whitney Hartlage.

 

Mercy Academy raced out to a 25-3 first quarter lead on their way to an 82-49 victory over Bullitt Central.  Twelve players from Mercy logged between 8:00 to 16:16 minutes of playing time with all twelve cracking the scoring column.  Mercy shot 55% from the field including six of 20 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 10 of 20 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 42 points off 31 Bullitt Central turnovers.  Bullitt Central shot 44.7% from the field including 10 of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Cougars connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored eight points off nine Mercy turnovers.

 

Christine Roush led Mercy with 20 points and nine rebounds.  Roush was eight of eight from the field including one of one from the three point line, and three of four free throws.  Kayla Richardson added 13 points including three three point baskets.  6-0 Fr. Malerie Martin chipped in with 10 points.  Courtney Roush, Whitney Hartlage, and Kayla Richardson each recorded five steals.

 

Kayla Riggs added Bullitt Central with 19 points including three three point baskets.  Riggs was six of seven from the field including three of four from the three point line, and four of five free throws.  Kaitlyn McKnight added 14 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds.

Western coach Clint Lovely started the following lineup: 5-11 So. Diynell Calvert, 5-5 Fr. Datoria Higgins, 6-1 Jr. Lelanda Matthews, 5-3 Sr. Carmen Lowe, and 5-5 Sr. Koyale Reliford.  Holy Cross coach Fred Copass countered with 5-9 Jr. Sydney Morabito, 5-8 Sr. Mya Hardin, 6-0 Sr. Julie Skaggs, 5-3 Jr. Morgan Wimberg, and 5-6 Sr. Kim Mingus.

 

Holy Cross scored 34 points off 26 Western turnovers in a 74-48 victory.  Holy Cross shot 42.2% from the field including three of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Cougars connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and held a 31-8 advantage in bench points.  Western shot 30.2% from the field including two of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Warriors connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored nine points off 11 Holy Cross turnovers.

 

5-10 So. Josie Hockman led Holy Cross with 15 points and four steals.  Sydney Morabito added 14 points.  Julie Skaggs recorded 12 points and 12 rebounds.  Skaggs was four of five from the field and four of four from the free throw line.  Mya Hardin recorded six steals.

 

Diynell Calvert led Western with 13 points and seven rebounds.  Koyale Reliford added 11 points and Carmen Lowe chipped in with 10 points.  Lelanda Matthews pulled down 15 rebounds.

Pleasure Ridge Park coach David Meadows started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Kelsey Adwell, 5-7 So. Paige Murphy, 6-0 So. Rayven Shead, 5-4 Sr. Katrina Kuban, and 5-6 Jr. Rachel Fox.  Butler coach Larry Just countered with 5-10 Jr. Aareon Smith, 5-9 Jr. Alexis Stallard, 5-10 So. Danielle Lawrence, 5-3 Sr. Cora Moore, and 5-7 Sr. MacKenzie Martinez.

 

Butler defeated Pleasure Ridge Park by a score of 72-47.  Butler shot 42.6% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 29 points off 29 PRP turnovers.  Butler attempted 28 more shots (61-33) from the field than PRP.  PRP shot 42.4% from the field including zero of five from beyond the arc.  The Lady Panthers connected on 19 of 30 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored eight points off 16 Butler turnovers.

 

Cora Moore led Butler with 24 points including four three point baskets and four steals.  Aareon Smith added 17 points and seven rebounds.  Alexis Stallard recorded nine points and six steals.  Danielle Lawrence chipped in with seven points and eight rebounds.  MacKenzie Martinez added seven points, eight assists, and nine steals.

 

Kelsey Adwell led PRP with 27 points, eight rebounds, and five steals.  Rayven Shead added eight points and nine rebounds.  Katrina Kuban also scored eight points.  Paige Murphy pulled down nine rebounds.

Taylor Blain.  North Bullitt coach Amber Courtney countered with 5-7 Jr. Reba Stice, 5-10 Jr. Caitlin Montgomery, 5-10 Sr. Holly White, 5-6 So. Shelby Morrison, and 5-6 So. Savannah Morrison.

 

Bullitt East defeated North Bullitt by a score of 62-50.  Bullitt East shot 29.2% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Chargers connected on 30 of 39 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 20 North Bullitt turnovers.  North Bullitt shot 43.2% from the field including two of five from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 16 of 29 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Bullitt East turnovers.

 

Nikole Isabel led Bullitt East with 19 points including 13 of 14 free throws.  5-9 So. Courtney Pfister added 13 points.  Kylee Willis chipped in with eight points and 11 rebounds.  5-6 7th grader Lindsey Duvall also recorded eight points.

 

5-5 8th grader Katie Downey led North Bullitt with 14 points, five rebounds, and four steals.  Savannah Morrison added 11 points and six rebounds.

Holy Cross (26-5)  vs.  Mercy Academy (26-5)  (Semifinal)

 

Holy Cross coach Fred Copass started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Sydney Morabito, 5-8 Sr. Mya Hardin, 6-0 Sr. Julie Skaggs, 5-3 Jr. Morgan Wimberg, and 5-6 Sr. Kim Mingus.  Mercy Academy coach Mark Evans countered with 5-10 Sr. Christine Roush, 5-9 Jr. Victoria Dircksen, 5-11 Sr. Courtney Roush, 5-7 Jr. Kayla Richardson, and 5-7 Jr. Whitney Hartlage.

 

Mercy Academy led Holy Cross 40-35 at halftime and outscored the Cougars 39-14 in the second half to earn a 79-49 victory.  Holy Cross shot 50% in the first half but went cold in the second half only shooting 26.7% after the intermission.  Mercy shot 45.2% from the field including 15 of 31 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 31 points off 26 Holy Cross turnovers.  Holy Cross shot 41% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Cougars connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored nine points off 14 Mercy turnovers.

 

Whitney Hartlage led Mercy with 33 points including nine three point baskets.  Kayla Richardson added 14 points including four three point baskets, six rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  Christine Roush chipped in with 13 points and five rebounds.

 

Mya Hardin led Holy Cross with 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Julie Skaggs, Kim Mingus, and 5-10 So. Josie Hockman added nine, eight, and eight points respectively.

Butler scored on a Danielle Lawrence field goal on an inbounds pass from Aareon Smith with one second on the clock to give the Bearettes a 50-48 victory over Bullitt East.  Butler led 23-13 in the second quarter but Bullitt East rallied to lead 38-37 after three quarters.  There were five lead changes and five ties in the game.  Butler shot 36% from the field including three of 16 from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Bullitt East turnovers.  Butler attempted 14 more shots (50-36) from the field than Bullitt East.  Bullitt East shot 41.7% from the field including four of six from beyond the arc.  The Lady Chargers connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 10 Butler turnovers.

 

Aareon Smith led Butler with 15 points and seven rebounds.  Danielle Lawrence added 13 points and five rebounds.  MacKenzie Martinez chipped in with nine points, four assists, and three steals.  5-11 Fr. Miah Casey pulled down seven rebounds.

 

Taylor Blain led Bullitt East with 11 points including two three point baskets.  Emily Fryman added nine points including two three point baskets.  Nikole Isabel chipped in with six points and 10 rebounds and Kylee Willis recorded six points and nine rebounds.

Butler led 22-21 at halftime and outscored the Jaguars 17-10 in the third quarter on their way to a 59-47 upset victory over Mercy Academy.  Butler shot 47.4% from the field including six of eight from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 11 Mercy turnovers.  Mercy shot 30.9% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Jaguars connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Butler turnovers.  Mercy attempted 17 more shots (55-38) from the field than Butler.

 

Alexis Stallard led Butler with 16 points.  Cora Moore added 14 points including three three point baskets and four assists.  Danielle Lawrence chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds.  Aareon Smith recorded six points and nine rebounds.  MacKenzie Martinez added six points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

 

Kayla Richardson led Mercy Academy with 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Christine Roush added 11 points and three steals.  Whitney Hartlage chipped in with nine points.  Courtney Roush recorded  seven points and six rebounds.
