Central  vs.  Assumption

 

Central coach Ashley Butler-Franklin started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Brianna Hawkins, 5-6 So. Brenda Hackett, 5-11 So. Chazney Jones, 5-5 Fr, Peyton Evans, and 5-5 Jr. Jocelyn Delgado.  Assumption coach Steve Small countered with 5-8 Sr. Katie Friedrich, 5-8 Sr. Kelsey Kaiser, 6-6 So. Nora Kiesler, 5-4 Sr. Brandy Hunter, and 5-7 Sr. Dee Dee Sliter.

 

Assumption outscored Central 25-5 in the second quarter on their way to a 67-40 victory over Central.  Assumption shot 46.4% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Rockets connected on 13 of 26 free throws, pulled down 50 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 22 Central turnovers.  Central shot 25.9% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Jackets connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 23 Assumption turnovers.

 

Nora Kiesler led Assumption with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Katie Friedrich added 13 points and 13 rebounds.  5-6 Sr. Erin Mullen chipped in with 10 points and five assists.

 

Brianna Hawkins led Central with 11 points and nine rebounds.  Chazney Jones added 10 points.  Jocelyn Delgado chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.

Seneca  vs.  Ballard

 

Seneca coach Latasha Peterson started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Keaira Pennie, 5-8 Sr. Jada Grady, 6-4 Sr. Sabrina Jackson, 5-7 Jr. Brianna Webster, and 5-6 Jr. Hannah Cudgel.  Ballard coach Frank Wright countered with 5-9 Jr. Kiana Richardson, 5-7 Jr. Aundrea Matchen, 6-4 Sr. Tearra Banks, 5-4 Jr. Brandi Ray, and 5-5 So. Alex Martin.

 

Ballard defeated Seneca by a score of 62-39.  Ballard shot 38.9% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Bruins connected on four of nine free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 22 Seneca turnovers.  Ballard attempted 17 more shots (72-55) from the field than Seneca.  Seneca shot 30.9% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Redhawks connected on two of eight free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Ballard turnovers.

 

Tearra Banks led Ballard with 19 points and nine rebounds.  Aundrea Matchen added 14 points and five rebounds.  Brandi Ray chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

 

Sabrina Jackson led Seneca with 12 points and 15 rebounds.  Jada Grady added nine points on three three point baskets.  5-11 Sr. Niya Anderson chipped in with seven points.  Keaira Pennie recorded four points, nine rebounds, and five blocked shots.

Male coach Jeff Sparks started the following lineup: 5-7 So. Denise Buckel, 5-7 So. Taylor Jackson, 6-0 So. Shaelyn Waller, 5-6 So. Jhericka Stephenson, and 5-6 Sr. Jasmine Kraft.  DuPont Manual coach Stacy Pendleton countered with 6-1 Sr. Kayla Styles, 5-7 Sr. Katie Long, 6-1 Jr. Tabitha Mitchell, 5-3 Jr. Erika Hawkins, and 5-7 Sr. Morgan Allen.

 

DuPont Manual led 25-19 at halftime but outscored Male 17-4 in the third quarter on their way to a 46-27 victory.  Manual shot 34.9% from the field including two of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 26 Male turnovers.  Male shot 23.9% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on two of nine free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored six points off 22 Manual turnovers.

 

Kayla Styles led Manual with 16 points and 16 rebounds.  5-9 So. Aricka Prentice added 10 points and 6-4 Fr. Krystalline McCune chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.

 

5-7 8th grade Jana Lewis led Male with six points and six rebounds.  Jhericka Stephenson and Taylor Jackson added six and five points respectively.  Jackson also recorded five steals.

Christian Academy of Louisville  vs.  Sacred Heart Academy

 

Christian Academy of Louisville coach Don Rice started the following lineup:  5-11 Sr. China Dow, 5-8 Sr. Chalisa Helm, 6-0 Jr. McKenzie Campbell, 5-7 Sr. Kate Joss, and 5-6 Jr. Lindsey Dunn.  Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir countered with 5-9 Jr. DaiJia Ruffin, 5-7 Sr. Julia Stough, 5-7 Sr. Kristin Matula, 5-3 So. Ashley Johnson, and 5-3 So. Gretchen Samsel.

 

Sacred Heart led 60-37 early in the final quarter and withstood a late Christian Academy of Louisville rally to earn a 77-67 victory.  Sacred Heart shot 58.3% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 16 of 23 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 CAL turnovers.  CAL shot 37.9% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Centurions connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Sacred Heart turnovers.

 

DaiJia Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 35 points, 21 rebounds, and five assists.  Ruffin was 15 of 19 from the field and five of 10 from the free throw line.  Ashley Johnson added 16 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.  Kristin Matula and Julia Stough each scored nine points.

 

China Dow led CAL with 51 points and 15 rebounds.  Dow was 19 of 38 from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc, and eight of 12 from the free throw line.  McKenzie Campbell added four points and seven rebounds.

Ballard coach Frank Wright started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Kiana Richardson, 5-7 Jr. Aundrea Matchen, 6-4 Sr. Tearra Banks, 5-4 Jr. Brandi Ray, and 5-5 So. Alex Martin.  Assumption coach Steve Small countered with 5-8 Sr. Katie Friedrich, 5-8 Sr. Kelsey Kaiser, 6-6 So. Nora Kiesler, 5-4 Sr. Brandy Hunter, and 5-7 Sr. Dee Dee Sliter.

 

Assumption led 17-15 at halftime and outscored Ballard 15-4 in the third quarter on their way to a 49-36 victory.  Assumption shot 43.9% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Rockets connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored seven points off 15 Ballard turnovers.  Ballard shot 25.9% from the field including one of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady bruins connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored six points off 19 Assumption turnovers.

 

Nora Kiesler led Assumption with 14 points and nine rebounds.  Katie Friedrich added 13 points and five rebounds.  Dee Dee Sliter recorded 11 points, four rebounds, and seven assists.

 

Tearra Banks led Ballard with 22 points and seven rebounds.  Aundrea Matchen added 11 points, nine rebounds, and five steals.  Kiana Richardson also pulled down nine rebounds.

Sacred Heart Academy  vs.  DuPont Manual  (Semifinal)

 

Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. DaiJia Ruffin, 5-7 Sr. Julia Stough, 5-7 Sr. Kristin Matula, 5-3 So. Ashley Johnson, and 5-3 So. Gretchen Samsel.  DuPont Manual coach Stacy Pendleton countered with 6-1 Sr. Kayla Styles, 5-7 Sr. Katie Long, 6-4 Fr. Krystalline McCune, 5-7 Sr. Destony Curry, and 5-7 Sr. Morgan Allen.

 

DuPont Manual defeated Sacred Heart Academy 62-60 in an overtime thriller.  The score was tied five times and there were seven lead changes in this game.  DuPont Manual coach Stacy Pendleton received two technical fouls and was ejected in regulation.  Sacred Heart Academy led 55-48 with 1:55 left in regulation but DuPont Manual rallied and tied the game 56-56 on a rebound and basket by Aricka Prentice with 22 seconds left in regulation.  Destony Curry stole a pass and connected on two free throws with 4.3 seconds remaining in overtime to give DuPont Manual the 62-60 victory.

 

Manual shot 42.3% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 23 Sacred Heart turnovers.  They attempted 11 more shots (52-41) from the field than Sacred Heart and held a 16-2 advantage in bench scoring.  Sacred Heart shot 46.3% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Valkyries connected on 15 of 27 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Manual turnovers.

 

Kayla Styles led Manual with 31 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.  5-9 So. Aricka Prentice added 12 points including two three point baskets.  Destony Curry chipped in with 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

 

DaiJia Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 26 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  Ruffin was seven of eight from the field including one of one from beyond the arc, and 11 of 18 free throws.  Gretchen Samsel added 12 points on four three point baskets and four steals.

DuPont Manual  vs.  Assumption  (Championship)

 

DuPont Manual acting head coach Tim Holman started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Kayla Styles, 5-7 Sr. Katie Long, 6-4 Fr. Krystalline McCune, 5-7 Sr. Destony Curry, and 6-1 Jr. Tabitha Mitchell.  Assumption coach Steve Small countered with 5-8 Sr. Katie Friedrich, 5-8 Sr. Kelsey Kaiser, 6-6 So. Nora Kiesler, 5-4 Sr. Brandy Hunter, and 5-7 Sr. Dee Dee Sliter.

 

 DuPont Manual held on down the stretch to defeat Assumption 36-34 in a game in which both teams shot less than 30% from the field and combined for 47 turnovers.  Manual led 23-14 at halftime but had to survive a late rally to claim the victory.  Assumption turned the Lady Crimsons over 27 times but could only take advantage for 10 points.  Manual shot 28.2% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.   The Lady Crimsons connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 20 Assumption turnovers.  Assumption shot 22.9% from the field including one of 13 from beyond he arc.  The Rockets connected on 11 of 21 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 27 Manual turnovers.

 

Destony Curry led Manual with 13 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, and four assists.  Kayla Styles added eight points on eight of eight free throws and 13 rebounds.

 

Katie Friedrich led Assumption with 11 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Nora Kiesler added eight points, 16 rebounds, and four blocked shots.
