The All “A” Classic started in 1980 with eight teams and in 1990 became a true statewide championship with 16 boys regional tournament winners competing for the championship. Champions crowned to date are 1980 Covington Holy Cross, 1981 Bellevue, 1982 Carlisle County, 1983 Walton-Verona, 1984 Oneida Baptist, 1985 Harlan, 1986 Muhlenberg Central, 1987 Covington Holy Cross, 1988 Bardstown, 1989 Central City, 1990 University Heights, 1991 University Heights, 1992 Lexington Catholic, 1993 Dilce Combs, 1994 Harlan, 1995 Harlan, 1996 University Heights, 1997 Lexington Catholic, 1998 University Heights, 1999 University Heights, 2000 Newport Central Catholic, 2001 Glasgow, 2002 University Heights, 2003 St. Henry, 2004 Hazard, 2005 University Heights, 2006 Bardstown, 2007 Bishop Brossart, 2008 University Heights, 2009 Shelby Valley, 2010 Shelby Valley, 2011 Betsy Layne, and 2012 Covington Holy Cross.

Bardstown (Region 5) vs. Carlisle County (Region 1)
Bardstown coach James Brewer started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Devonte Grundy, 6-2 Sr. Marcus Cosby, 6-7 Jr. Sevion Schooling, 5-8 Jr. Tavon Johnson, and 5-7 Sr. Dee Yocum. Carlisle County coach Brian O’Neill countered with 6-3 Sr. Tanner Guhy, 6-3 Sr. Derik Elliott, 6-9 Sr. Marcus Burnett, 5-10 Sr. Cody Rowe, and 5-10 Fr. Ethan Weatherspoon.
Bardstown pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Carlisle County by a score of 61-46. Bardstown shot 38.3% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line. The Tigers connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 20 Carlisle County. Carlisle County shot 40.8% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc. The Comets connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Bardstown turnovers.
Devonte Grundy led Bardstown with 21 points and 11 rebounds. 5-9 So. Eljay Cowherd added 13 points and four assists. Marcus Cosby chipped in with nine points and five rebounds. Sevion Schooling recorded six points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Marcus Burnett led Carlisle County with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Tanner Guhy added 12 points including two three point baskets. Ethan Weatherspoon chipped in with 10 points.

University Heights shot 38% from the field including five of 21 from beyond the arc. The Blazers connected on 13 of 23 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 16 Model turnovers.
Jon Ballard led Model with 20 points and seven rebounds. Ballard was nine of 12 from the field and two of two from the free throw line. A.J. Hammons added 12 points including two three point baskets and six rebounds. Anthony Gerald chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds. 6-0 Sr. Jesse Middleton recorded 10 points including two three point baskets.
Austin Bynum led University Heights with 17 points including two three point baskets. Lamontas Johnson added 11 points including two three point baskets. 6-1 So. Ledonald Gray chipped in with nine points. Thomas Folz recorded eight points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Russell avoided an upset by a very determined Butler County squad to earn a 69-68 victory. Russell led 55-44 after three quarters but had to survive a Butler County rally. Russell shot 48.8% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line. The Red Devils connected on 21 of 34 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Butler County turnovers. Butler County shot 41.4% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc. The Bears connected on 15 of 25 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Russell turnovers. Butler County held a 16-0 advantage in second effort points.
Kyle Skaggs led Russell with 33 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds. Jacob Porter added 19 points. Porter was six of seven from the field including one of two from beyond the arc, and six of seven from the free throw line. Lance Evans chipped in with 10 points. Googie Hayes recorded seven points, seven assists, and five steals.
5-8 So. Zach Burden led Butler County with 23 points and five rebounds. Zeke Woodcock added 14 points including two three point baskets. Elijah Fleener chipped in with 11 points. Alex Hall recorded six points and 15 rebounds.

Bryce Overstreet led Louisville Collegiate with 17 points and six rebounds. David Keyer added 10 points. Andrew Steggeman chipped in with nine points.

Dominique Mack led Holy Cross with 24 points including two three point baskets, 10 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Jack Schmitt added 23 points including four three point baskets, and five rebounds.
Ray Kasongo led Pikeville with 32 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocked shots. Kasongo was 15 of 17 from the field and two of seven from the free throw line. Ethan Rowe added 19 points including three three point baskets and four assists.

Newport Central Catholic shot 37% from the field including zero of four from the three point line. The Thoroughbreds connected on 13 of 17 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 Somerset turnovers. Somerset shot 25.6% from the field including one of six from beyond the arc. The Briar Jumpers connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored six points off 12 Newport Central Catholic turnovers.
Drew McDonald led Newport Central Catholic with 19 points and eight rebounds. McDonald was eight of 12 from the field and three of three from the free throw line. Jake Schulte added 13 points, 10 rebounds, five blocked shots, and three steals. Michael Bueter chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds, and four steals.
Ryan Dishman led Somerset with 11 points. Tyson Williams added 10 points and 12 rebounds. Matt Gordon also recorded 10 points. Gordon was four of five from the field and two of two from the free throw line. Ryan Weddle recorded two points, six rebounds, and six blocked shots.
