2013 Republic Bank Holiday Classic (Girls) Participating Teams

Allen County-Scottsville (Region 4) – Coach Brad Bonds’ Lady Patriots finished 27-5 last season and are expected to contend for the regional title this season.  The Lady Patriots will be led by 5-11 Jr. Morgan Rich who is an athletic, versatile scorer.  5-9 So. Guard Savannah Gregory’s aggressiveness and high energy and 6-1 Jr. Holly Robinson’s ability to play inside or out creates match-up problems for their opponents.

 

Anderson County (Region 8) – Coach Tony Kays’ Lady Bearcats finished 34-2 last season and should be one of the top contenders for state supremacy this season.  They will be led by the dynamic duo of 5-11 Sr. guard Makenzie Cann and 5-10 Sr. Eriel McKee both who are four year starters.  Cann is a deadly outside shooter and an excellent passer and McKee is virtually unstoppable in the open court.  5-5 Sr. Destiny Stewart is a savvy point guard and a three year starter.  5-9 Sr. guard Alex Avritt is a solid defender and 5-7 Sr. guard Jessica Rice is a solid contributor.  Other players expected to contribute include 5-2 Jr. Corrin Robinson and 5-7 So. Kaci Currens who has good range on her shot.  Anderson County has some tough competition in its own region but this team should be focused and if they compensate for the graduation loss of 6-1 center Kali Whiteside should be extremely difficult to beat.

 

Assumption (Region 7) – Coach Steve Small’s Rockets finished 22-8 last season and graduated most of their experienced players.  However, they return highly recruited 6-6 Jr. center Nora Kiesler.  Other players expected to contribute this season include 5-8 Jr. Cassidy Janes, 5-4 So. Sabrina Fussenegger, 5-10 Sr. Molly Steinmetz, 5-7 Jr. Katie Monaghan, 5-9 Jr. Lauren Monaghan, 5-10 Jr. Leah Mattingly, and 5-7 Sr. Caroline Deeley.

 

Bourbon County (Region 10) – The Lady Colonels finished 10-21 last season and Bill Watson takes over as head coach this season.  5-10 Jr. guard Asia Sims is a versatile performer capable of putting up big numbers this season.  5-8 Sr. Jessica Stamper and 5-6 Sr. Alex Rankin are also key returnees.

 

Bryan Station (Region 11) – The Lady Defenders finished 18-11 last season and Shawn Ransom takes over as head coach this season.  Bryan Station graduated several players but still remain quick and very athletic.  Key players include 5-9 So. Jamayah Fields, 5-9 Sr. Lakeysha Stennis, 5-9 So. Destiny Cozart, and 5-5 Jr. Zaria Elery.  5-10 Sr. Victoria McCoy is an inside presence but will not be available until January due to a knee injury.

 

Christian Academy of Louisville (Region 7) – Coach Don Rice’s Lady Centurions finished 18-12 last season but graduated prolific scorer China Dow.  5-9 So. Emma Bowman is expected to have a break-out season.  Other key players are expected to be 6-0 Sr. McKenzie Campbell, 5-10 So. Allie Blackburn, and 5-8 Sr. Lindsey Dunn.  Coach Rice has some promising young players including 5-7 Fr. Summer Conti, 5-7 Fr. Emma Wesley, and 5-7 7th grader Raqueal Reese.

 

Covington Holy Cross (Region 9) – Coach Kes Murphy’s Lady Indians finished 21-7 last season and returns an experienced squad with good size.  6-2 Jr. Ally Mayhaus, 6-2 Jr. Cessie Mayhaus, and 6-2 Jr. Michelle Hungler provides strong inside play.  Other key performers include 5-10 Jr. Abby Hassert and 5-5 So. Dajah McClendon.

 

East Carter (Region 16) – Coach Hager Easterling’s Lady Raiders finished 24-8 last season and are expected to challenge for the regional crown.  The Lady Raiders are deep and talented and will be led by 5-9 Sr. Bryana Greenhill, 5-9 Jr. Megan Stickler, and 6-1 Jr. Kelsey Stumbo.  5-5 Fr. Kristen Mayo will trigger the offense.  Mayo is a seasoned and talented performer despite her youth.

 

Elizabethtown (Region 5) – Coach Tim Mudd’s Lady Panthers finished 23-8 last season and should be one of the elite teams in the state this season.  They will be led by two of the best players in the state in 6-1 So. Erin Boley and 6-2 Jr. Reauna Cleaver.  Other key players include 5-8 Jr. Darien Huff, 5-9 Jr. Livie Bowling, 5-4 Sr. Kinsey Mudd, 5-5 So. Rachel Warden, and 5-10 Fr. Taylor Thomas.  5-7 Fr. Jada Stinson as also a talented young player expected to provide quality minutes.

 

Franklin County (Region 11) – Coach Joey Thacker’s Lady Flyers finished 23-11 last season and return a lot of talent this season even though they are still extremely young.  They will be led by 5-9 So. Malaka Frank a versatile forward who gets it done on both ends of the court.  5-4 Sr. PG Nannilena White triggers the offense and 5-8 So. Dasia Kilbourne is a versatile scorer.  Other key contributors include 5-5 So. Anna Arrastia, 5-8 Fr. Rebecca Cook, and 5-6 Fr. Princess Stewart.

 

George Rogers Clark (Region 10) – Coach Robbie Graham’s Lady Cardinals finished 13-18 last season but returns the size, depth, and talent to be a regional contender this season.  6-0 Jr. Sandra Skinner is a force in the paint and 5-5 Sr. Lexxus Graham will direct the offense.  6-1 Sr. Maddie Hamlin and 5-10 So. Sydney Anderson is also expected to be key contributors.

 

Harrison County (Region 10) – Coach Kimberly Furnish’s Fillies finished 5-22 last season but should be an improved team this season.  They will be led by 6-0 Sr. Jordan Doram a force in the paint who averaged a double-double (points and rebounds) last season.  5-5 Jr. guard Chelsea Ingram is also a key returnee and 5-5 7th grader Madison Kellione is a promising point guard.

 

Hazard (Region 14) – The Lady Dogs finished 15-14 last season and Harold Brashears takes over as head coach this season.  5-7 Sr. PG Maddison Niece, 5-9 Sr. Tori Wells, 5-6 Sr. Brittany Miller, and 5-9 So. Kelsi Caudill are expected to lead Hazard this season.

 

Henry Clay (Region 11) – Eric Sanford’s Lady Blue Devils finished 15-14 last season and returns a deep, athletic team but is lacking in size.  5-6 So. T’laya Lyvers and 5-5 Jr. Destiny Carter will lead the team and 6-0 Jr. Hannah Young will play inside.  5-9 Sr. Kamari Boyd, 5-9 Jr. Kerrigan Davis, 5-6 Jr. Jazmine Richmond, 5-6 Jr. Kennedy Coney, 5-6 Jr. Nakirya Joyce, and 5-10 Sr. Areanna Porter are also key players to watch this season.

 

Lexington Catholic (Region 11) – Coach Scott True’s Lady Knights finished 11-18 last season and are looking to improve despite the loss of leading scorer Octavia Wilson to graduation.  5-8 Jr. Rachel Blake is expected to lead the team in scoring this season.  Other key returnees include 5-5 Sr. Suzanne Miller, 5-9 Jr. Caroline Lynch, 5-5 Jr. Bailey Browning, 5-10 Sr. Hannah Gadberry, and 5-9 So. Sarah Bonn.  6-0 Fr. Mallie Cornett is a promising newcomer with good skills.

 

Lincoln County (Region 12) – Coach Cassandra McWhorter’s Lady Patriots finished 27-6 last season but graduated all five starters.  5-9 Jr. Tiondra Hacker and 5-6 Jr. Spencer Sims are expected to lead the team.  5-3 So. Caitlin Hall and 5-4 So. Cristin Hall are also expected to be key performers this season.

 

Louisville Collegiate (Region 7) – The Amazons finished 12-8 last season and Scott Willard takes over as head coach this season.  5-6 Jr. PG Mikaela Wright will be the team leader.  Other key players include 5-7 Jr. Bailey Overstreet and 6-2 So. Rachel Cooper.  Coach Willard also has two promising youngsters in 5-10 7th grader Nila Blackford and 5-7 8th grader Kate Severtson.

 

Mason County (Region 10) – Coach Piper Lindsey’s Lady Royals finished 20-9 last season and has a solid nucleus returning this season including 5-8 Sr. Alivia Bierley, 5-6 Sr. PG McKenzie Butler, and 5-9 Jr. forward Cara Green.  5-8 Fr. Whitney O’Mara and 5-9 Fr. Center Maddie Boone are also expected to be key contributors.

 

Meade County (Region 3) – Coach Josh Hurt’s lady Waves finished 23-10 last season and are expected to compete for the region title this season.  6-2 Jr. guard Morgan Turner can play any position, passes well, and can shoot the three pointer.  Turner averaged 16.9 ppg and 7.2 rpg last season.  5-7 Sr. Raley Johnson averaged 14.6 ppg and is an excellent long range shooter and a great hard-nosed defender.  Johnson is also a deadly free throw shooter.  5-7 Jr. PG Addi Lynch handles the ball well and is an excellent shooter with range.  5-2 Sr. Katelyn Cucino is a three year starter and a lock down defender on the perimeter.  Other key players include 6-1 So. Karissa Reader, 5-4 So. Katie Wilson, and 5-7 Jr. Kelsey Sutton.

 

Mercy Academy (Region 6) – The Jaguars finished 20-11 last season and long time assistant head coach Keith Baisch takes over as head coach. The Jaguars have graduated a ton of talent over the last four years with eight girls playing college basketball this season.  Tradition never graduates and there is still a lot of talent in the program.  6-0 Jr. Malerie Martin is a versatile scorer who will be counted on early as this team works to create their own identity.  Other key players are expected to be 5-7 Jr. Hannah Bewley and 6-1 Fr. Elizabeth Anderson.

 

Owensboro Catholic (Region 3) – Coach Michael Robertson’s Lady Aces finished 25-8 last season and should contend for the regional title despite the graduation of All-American Becca Greenwell.  5-9 Sr. Kaylyn Pearson averaged 14 ppg and 9 rpg last season. 5-9 Sr. Haley Garvin has recovered from numerous injuries last season and is greatly improved.  5-9 Jr. Destiny Howard has excellent potential and could be a force inside this season.  5-6 So. Mikayla Berry is expected to increase her scoring this season.

 

Ryle (Region 9) – The Lady Raiders finished 12-19 last season and Karra Jackson takes over as coach this season.  Key players are expected to include 5-7 Sr. guard Mackenzie Senvisky, 6-1 So. Carly Lange, and 6-2 So. Aimee Jump.  Ryle graduated most of their offensive firepower from last season but has some excellent young players with size returning this year.

 

Simon Kenton (Region 8) – Coach Jeff Stowers Lady Pioneers finished 28-6 last season and will challenge for the region crown this season.  They will be led by 5-3 Sr. dynamo Abby Owings who creates havoc on both ends of the court.  Owings thrives under pressure, always plays at full speed and can score from the perimeter.  6-0 Sr. Rachel Cox, 5-5 Sr. Sarah Tomlin, and 5-5 Sr. Christina Cook are also key returnees.  Also, expect major contributions from 5-8 Jr. Maggi Bosse this year.

 

South Laurel (Region 13) – Coach Konnie Snyder’s Lady Cardinals finished 13-14 last season and graduated three starters.  5-6 Sr. Bailey Miller and 5-2 Jr. Preslie Baker are expected to be the key players this season.

 

Southwestern (Region 12) – The Lady Warriors finished 19-12 last season and Stephen Butcher takes over as head coach.  The Lady Warriors have a high octane offense and are favored to capture the region crown.  5-9 Jr. Adison Corder is a deadly outside shooter and 6-0 So. Samantha Fitzgerald is a versatile performer with a bright future.  Other key performers include 6-1 So. Elisabeth Lathem, 6-0 Jr. Dylana Fothergill, 5-7 Jr. Brittany Combs, and 5-5 Jr. Destiny Molden.

 

Tates Creek (Region 11) – Coach Tina Winn’s Lady Commodores finished 10-18 last season but suffered heavy graduation losses.  Some of the players expected to contribute this season include 5-8 Jr. Myra Brown, 5-5 Jr. Lori Nsimpasi, 5-10 Jr. Haley Blackburn, 5-8 Sr. McKenna Cummins, and 5-6 Jr. Hannah Hamill.

 

Warren Central (Region 4) – The Lady Dragons finished 14-18 last season and Joe Hood takes over as head coach this season.  5-7 So. Tia Barnett is the returning leading scorer.  Other key players are expected to be 5-9 Sr. Angel Hill, 5-3 Sr. Jhovan Satterfield, 6-0 Jr. Lashae Halsel, 5-6 Sr. TiAvion Patterson, and 5-10 8th grader Zakoria Hill.

 

Webster County (Region 2) – The Lady Trojans finished 23-6 last season and Tonya Wells takes over as head coach.  Webster County returns a solid nucleus including 5-6 Sr. Darrian McNary, 5-8 Sr. Bailey Townsend, and 5-9 Jr. Christian Papineau.
