Ballard vs. Male (Semifinal)
Ballard coach Frank Wright started the flowing lineup: 5-9 Sr. Kiana Richardson, 5-7 Sr. Aundrea Matchen, 5-10 Sr. Javonna Layfield, 5-3 8th grader Briana Mishler, and 5-6 Jr. Alex Martin. Male coach Champ Ligon countered with 5-11 Fr. Logan Calvert, 5-7 Jr. Taylor Jackson, 6-1 So. I’Liyah Green, 5-5 Jr. Denise Buckel, and 5-2 Sr. Alex Gainey.
Ballard defeated Male by a score of 58-31. Ballard shot 56.5% from the field including one of five from the three point line. The Lady Bruins connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 21 Male turnovers. Male shot 23.6% from the field including one of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bulldogs connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored five points off 19 Ballard turnovers.
Javonna Layfield led Ballard with 21 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, three blocked shots, and three steals. Kiana Richardson added 10 points and eight rebounds. Briana Mishler chipped in with nine points.
I’Liyah Green led Male with 10 points, nine rebounds, and four blocked shots. Logan Calvert added seven points and six rebounds.

DuPont Manual coach Jeff Sparks countered with 6-1 Sr. Tabitha Mitchell, 5-11 So. Sydney MacBlaine, 6-4 So. Krystalline McCune, 5-4 Jr. Teanna Curry, and 5-7 Fr. Tonysha Curry.
Sacred Heart defeated DuPont Manual by a score of 57-42. Sacred Heart shot 35.4% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on 19 of 22 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 DuPont Manual turnovers. DuPont Manual shot 36.1% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc. The Lady Crimsons connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored two points off five Sacred Heart turnovers.
Raven Merriweather led Sacred Heart Academy with 21 points including 13 of 16 free throws and pulled down six rebounds. DaiJia Ruffin added 18 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Gretchen Samsel chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets.
Teanna Curry led DuPont Manual with 21 points. Krystalline McCune added 10 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Sacred Heart Academy trailed 32-31 after three quarters but rallied to defeat Ballard by a score of 46-39. There were 11 lead changes and five ties in this game. Sacred Heart shot 48.5% from the field including one of 11 from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 15 Ballard turnovers. Ballard shot 34.1% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bruins connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Sacred Heart turnovers.
DaiJia Ruffin led Sacred Heart with 24 points and eight rebounds. Raven Merriweather added 12 points.
Javonna Layfield led Ballard with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocked shots. Aundrea Matchen added eight points and four rebounds.
