Simon Kenton vs. Central

 

Simon Kenton coach Trent Steiner started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Michael Sammons, 6-3 Jr. Austin Fries, 6-4 Sr. Matt Mullins, 6-1 Sr. Jaeger Pracht, and 6-3 Sr. Noah Robinson.  Central coach Doug Bibby countered with 6-2 Jr. Terrell Davis, 6-1 Sr. Brandon Johnson, 6-3 Jr. Daivon Thompson, 5-7 Jr. Brandon Wells, and 5-9 So. Devin Firman.

 

Central defeated Simon Kenton 64-61 in a very competitive hard fought battle.  The game was tied 10 times and there were 16 lead changes in the game.  Central shot 68.4% from the field including four of eight from the three point line.  The Yellowjackets connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 13 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 18 Simon Kenton turnovers.  Simon Kenton shot 54.5% from the field including five of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Pioneers connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 16 Central turnovers.

 

Daivon Thompson led Central with 28 points.  Thompson was 12 of 17 from the field including one of three from beyond the arc and three of five free throws.  Devin Firman added 12 points.  Firman was four of four from the field including one of one from beyond the arc and three of three free throws. 

 

Jaeger Pracht led Simon Kenton with 17 points.  Noah Robinson added 12 points and Matt Mullins recorded nine points and seven rebounds.  Austin Fries and 6-2 So. Timmy Cottrell chipped in with nine and eight points respectively.

Oldham County defeated Aiken by a score of 65-60.  Oldham County shot 50% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 13 of 14 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 19 Aiken turnovers.  Aiken shot 56.1% from the field including one of seven from beyond the arc.  The Falcons connected on 13 of 23 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 15 Oldham County turnovers.

 

Jacob Bates led Oldham County with 23 points and six rebounds.  Connor Hicks added 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  6-1 Jr. Brandon Johnson recorded nine points on three three point baskets.

 

Carlik Jones led Aiken with 19 points, for rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Jones was eight of nine from the field and three of three from the free throw line.  Lonnie Berry and Damon Harris each scored 12 points.  Elijah Gordon recorded nine points and eight rebounds.

Braxton Beverly led Perry County Central with 29 points including four three point baskets and six rebounds.  Damon Tobler added 17 points and six rebounds.

 

Will Parker led Male with 15 points and six rebounds.  Alex Cook added 10 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.  Brandon Horne chipped in with 10 points and four assists.  Hogan Brownley recorded seven points and 15 rebounds.

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 28-6 first quarter lead on their way to a 90-57 victory over Betsy Layne.  Sixteen players saw action for Lexington Catholic tonight with twelve entering the scoring column.  Lexington Catholic shot 68.6% from the field including 15 of 24 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 13 Betsy Layne turnovers.  Betsy Layne shot 33.3% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Bobcats connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 15 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Tanner Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 25 points including four three point baskets in only 12:53 minutes of playing time.  6-4 Jr. Joseph Ogbogu added 13 points.  6-3 Jr. Seth Cambron chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets.  Jarod Griffin recorded 10 points and nine assists.  5-11 Jr. Donovan Morris also reached double figures with 10 points.

Daniel Ramser led Trinity with 16 points including two three point baskets and six rebounds.  Michael Stafford and 6-0 So. Lukas Burkman each scored 11 points.  5-8 So. Jacob King chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets.  Jax Levitch and Ray Spalding each recorded eight points and six rebounds.

 

Jeremiah Bell led Boyle County with 21 points including three three point baskets.  Hagen Tyler added seven points.

Henderson County vs. Lexington Catholic (Championship)

 

Henderson County coach Tyler Smithhart started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. David Simmons, 6-1 Sr. Bryce Crowley, 6-8 Sr. Andrew Mattingly, 6-0 Sr. DJ Washington, and 6-2 Sr. Brady Norman.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Sr. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 Sr. Reese Ryan, 6-5 Sr. Walker Boothe, 5-11 Sr. Michael Talbott, and 6-2 Sr. Jarod Griffin.

 

Henderson County defeated Lexington Catholic 64-56 in a hard fought battle to capture the tournament championship.  Henderson County shot 52.1% from the field including one of nine from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 10 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 43.8% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Henderson County turnovers.

 

David Simmons led Henderson County with 23 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Brady Norman added 14 points and DJ Washington recorded 10 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.

 

Tanner Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 20 points including two three point baskets.  Michael Talbott added 10 points.  6-4 Jr. Joseph Ogbogu chipped in with eight points.
