Scott County (13-16) vs. Franklin County (23-6) (Girls)

 

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 5-10 So. Lauren Boehm, 5-8 Fr. Peyton Riddle, 5-11 Fr. Sidney Southerland, 5-3 8th Grade Juliette Smith, and 5-7 8th Grade Maaliya Owens.  Franklin County coach Joey Thacker countered with 5-8 So. Rebecca Cook, 5-8 Jr. Dasia Kilbourne, 5-9 Jr. Malaka Frank, 5-5 Jr. Anna Arrastia, and 5-6 So. Princess Stewart.

 

Franklin County raced out to an early lead on their way to a 74-51 victory over Scott County tonight.  Franklin County led 47-29 at halftime and even though they tailed off offensively in the second half Scott County was hampered by their one of 13 from the three point line after intermission.  Franklin County shot 48.9% from the field including two of five from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 26 of 37 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 18 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 30.2% from the field including four of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored seven points off 13 Franklin County turnovers.

 

Princess Stewart led Franklin County with 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists, four blocked shots, and four steals.  Rebecca Cook added 19 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Dasia Kilbourne recorded 14 points and five rebounds.  Malaka Frank chipped in with seven points, six rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.

 

Peyton Riddle led Scott County with 21 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds.  Juliette Smith added 12 points and five assists.  Sidney Southerland pulled down nine rebounds and blocked three shots.

Madison Southern raced out to a 33-16 lead early in the second half but had to survive a furious comeback by Lexington Catholic to pull out a 48-44 victory.  Madison Southern avenged an earlier loss this season at Lexington Catholic.  Madison Southern shot 31% from the field including seven of 25 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 11 points off eight Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 27.3% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 18 of 24 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Kristen Hayes led Madison Southern with 20 points including nine of 10 free throws and blocked three shots.  Briana Lanham added six points and 11 rebounds.  Kelley Freeman recorded six points on two three point baskets and pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Rachel Blake led Lexington Catholic with 16 points and eight rebounds.  Bailey Browning also scored 16 points including two three point baskets and recorded three steals.  Sarah Bonn chipped in with seven points and four rebounds.

Model coach Bobby Storie started the following lineup: 5-10 8th Grade Lauren Jackson, 5-9 So. Mallory Smith, 5-11 So. Emily Jackson, 5-5 So. Abby Vicars, and 5-10 Sr. Hayley Hunt.  Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford countered with 5-9 Jr. Anovia Byars, 5-6 Sr. Jazmine Richmond, 5-10 Jr. Nakeisha Green. 5-6 Jr. T’Laya Lyvers, and 5-6 Sr. Destiny Carter.

 

Henry Clay raced out to an 18-1 first quarter lead on their way to a 60-27 victory over Model.  Henry Clay’s defense forced 37 turnovers and recorded 27 steals.  The Lady Blue Devils substituted liberally tonight with fourteen players entering the scoring column and logging between 7:12 to 14:54 minutes.  Henry Clay shot 37.7% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on 11 of 23 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 37 points off 37 Model turnovers.  Model shot 26.9% from the field including one of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

T’Laya Lyvers led Henry Clay with 12 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and four steals.  Anovia Byars added eight points and four steals.  5-4 Sr. Kennedy Coney chipped in with six points. 

 

Mallory Smith led Model with 11 points and six rebounds.  Hayley Hunt added eight points and six rebounds.

Lafayette held a 14-2 advantage in second chance points in a 62-42 victory over Woodford County.  Lafayette shot 41.1% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 13 of 22 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 18 Woodford County turnovers.  Woodford County shot 37.5% from the field including eight of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Yellow Jackets connected on four of 11 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored six points off nine Lafayette turnovers.

 

Dee Givens led Lafayette with 19 points and seven steals.  5-9 Fr. Caroline Bennett added 10 points including three three point baskets.  Kiara Pankins also scored 10 points and pulled down five rebounds.  Ashanti Thomas recorded nine points and 10 rebounds.  Aisha Conwell chipped in with six points and nine rebounds.

 

Caitlin Ferguson led Woodford County with 18 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Chelsey Ford also scored 18 points including four three point baskets and pulled down four rebounds.

Bryan Station coach Tommy Johnson started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Tequan Claitt, 6-1 Sr. Josh Owsley, 6-5 Jr. Deandre Dishman, 6-0 Jr. Andre Davis, and 6-0 Sr. CJ Walker.  Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. countered with 6-2 Jr. John Williams, 6-1 Jr. Grant Brockman, 6-4 Sr. Sam Jones, 5-11 Sr. Kirkland Humphrey, and 5-10 Jr. Terique Miller.

 

Bryan Station defeated Madison Central by a score of 67-50.  Bryan Station shot 52.9% from the field including seven of 11 from the three point line.  The Defenders connected on six of 15 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored nine points off six Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 32.1% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on eight of nine free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored six points off five Bryan Station turnovers.

 

Andre Davis led Bryan Station with 24 points including five three point baskets and six rebounds.  6-2 Jr. Timothy Dunn added 12 points and four assists.  CJ Walker chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.  Tequan Claitt recorded nine points and eight rebounds.  Deandre Dishman added seven points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.

 

Kirkland Humphrey led Madison Central with 16 points, four rebounds, and five assists.  John Williams added 11 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Terique Miller chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets.  Sam Jones recorded seven points and 10 rebounds.

The score was tied 33-33 at halftime but Lafayette pulled away in the second half to defeat Franklin County 68-55.  Lafayette shot 60% from the field in the second half.  There were 10 lead changes and four ties in this game.  Lafayette shot 49% from the field including seven of 17 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 14 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 40.4% from the field including three of six from beyond the arc.  The Flyers connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 11 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Ross Jenkins led Lafayette with 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots, and five steals.  Jenkins was eight of nine from the field and three of three from the free throw line.  Harrison Lane added 18 points including three three point baskets and five assists. 

 

Ryan Schneider led Franklin County with 20 points and four steals.  Michael Clark added 13 points and seven rebounds.  Demarcus Kennedy recorded 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Henry Clay outscored Model 21-3 in the third quarter to pull away for a 61-34 victory.  Henry Clay shot 41.5% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 32 points off 22 Model turnovers.  Model shot 35.1% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Isaiah Tisdale led Henry Clay with 16 points.  Jordan Houston added seven points and five rebounds.  Colby Barnes recorded six points and seven rebounds.

 

Ephraim Otieno led Model with 13 points, four assists, and four steals.  Alex Chen added 10 points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Lexington Catholic captured a hard fought 58-50 victory over a very determined Woodford County squad.  Lexington Catholic shot 44.4% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 18 Woodford County turnovers.  Woodford County shot 45.2% from the field including three of six from beyond the arc.  The Yellow Jackets connected on 19 of 27 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored six points off eight Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Walker Boothe and Jarod Griffin led Lexington Catholic with 10 points each.  Tanner Johnson added nine points and five rebounds.  Reese Ryan recorded eight points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  Michael Talbott chipped in with eight points, four rebounds, and four assists.  6-5 So. Peter Whitman recorded eight points.

 

5-10 Fr. Chandler Stewart led Woodford County with 15 points including two three point baskets and seven of eight free throws.  Keagan Stromberg added 10 points and five rebounds.  Colton McCrady recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Keenon Laine chipped in with six points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Franklin County defeated Madison Southern by a score of 58-44.  Franklin County shot 47.8% from the field including two of five from the three point line.  The lady Flyers connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 15 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 32% from the field including four of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on eight of 10 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Franklin County turnovers.

 

Dasia Kilbourne led Franklin County with 23 points and four rebounds.  Princess Stewart added nine points, eight rebounds, and four assists.  Anna Arrastia chipped in with eight points.  Rebecca Cook recorded five points and six rebounds.

 

Kristen Hayes led Madison Southern with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Briana Lanham added seven points and six rebounds.  Kelley Freeman chipped in with five points and six rebounds.

Henry Clay trailed 31-29 after three quarters but rallied for a 45-37 victory over Lafayette.  There were eight lead changes and seven ties in this game.  Henry Clay shot 27.3% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  Henry Clay attempted 16 more shots (55-39) from the field than Lafayette.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 24 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 30.8% from the field including three of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

T’Laya Lyvers led Henry Clay with 19 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Destiny Carter added nine points.  5-4 Sr. Kennedy Coney also scored nine points.  6-1 Sr. Hannah Young pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked two shots.

 

Dee Givens led Lafayette with 15 points including two three point baskets, nine rebounds, and four steals.  5-9 So. Kendyl Powell added nine points and six rebounds.  Kiara Pankins recorded eight points and eight rebounds.

Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Nakeisha Green, 5-6 Sr. Jazmine Richmond, 6-1 Sr. Hannah Young, 5-6 Jr. T’Laya Lyvers, and 5-6 Sr. Destiny Carter.  (Kerrigan Davis and Anovia Byars were out with injuries.)  Franklin County coach Joey Thacker countered with 5-8 So. Rebecca Cook, 5-8 Jr. Dasia Kilbourne, 5-9 Jr. Malaka Frank, 5-5 Jr. Anna Arrastia, and 5-6 So. Princess Stewart.  (Malaka Frank played well tonight despite being less than 100% due to an injury.)

 

Dasia Kilbourne hit two late free throws to give Franklin County a 58-56 victory over Henry Clay.  Henry Clay had a late field goal attempt that failed to connect.  There were seven lead changes and seven ties in this game.  Franklin County shot 43.2% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 15 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 36.2% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Franklin County turnovers.

 

Dasia Kilbourne led Franklin County with 26 points including 11 of 14 free throws and five rebounds.  Rebecca Cook added eight points, five rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and three steals.  Princess Stewart chipped in with seven points, five rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots.  Malaka Frank recorded six points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.

 

Destiny Carter led Henry Clay with 19 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and three assists.  Hannah Young added 10 points.  T’Laya Lyvers recorded eight points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and four steals.  5-10 Jr. Jordyn Jackson chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.

Bryan Station raced out to a 20-10 first quarter and never faltered on their way to a 65-48 victory over Lafayette.  Bryan Station shot 49% from the field including two of 10 from the three point line.  The Defenders connected on 15 of 28 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 11 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 35.7% from the field including only one of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on seven of 18 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored six points off 13 Bryan Station turnovers.

 

Tequan Claitt led Bryan Station with 18 points, 13 rebounds, three blocked shots, and three steals.  6-2 Jr. Timothy Dunn added 15 points.  Andre Davis chipped in with 12 points.  Chase Caldwell played a major role tonight starting in place of Deandre Dishman and scored 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Ross Jenkins led Lafayette with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  5-10 Jr. TJ Downey added 12 points and four rebounds.  Lucky Jackson recorded eight points and seven rebounds.

Lexington Catholic raced out to an early lead and never looked back in a 65-44 victory over Henry Clay.  Lexington Catholic shot 46.3% from the field including four of 18 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 31.4% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Blue Devils connected on eight of 16 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored four points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Tanner Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 20 points including three three point baskets and 10 rebounds.  Michael Talbott added 17 points and five rebounds.  Jarod Griffin recorded 13 points and four rebounds.  Reese Ryan recorded five points, six rebounds, six assists, and three blocked shots.

 

Felix Wilson led Henry Clay with 15 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.  6-3 Jr. Leander Ridgeway added eight points.  6-3 Fr. Justin Mitchell pulled down eight rebounds.

Lexington Catholic led 35-23 in the third quarter and withstood a furious Bryan Station rally in the final quarter to earn a 56-53 victory and the regional championship.  There were seven lead changes and four ties in this game.  Lexington Catholic shot 55.6% from the field including three of nine from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored one point off nine Bryan Station turnovers.  Bryan Station shot 36.7% from the field including five of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Defenders connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Tournament MVP Michael Talbott led Lexington Catholic with 21 points and four rebounds.  Talbott was seven of 10 from the field and seven of eight free throws.  Jarod Griffin added 13 points.  Tanner Johnson recorded 12 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.  Reese Ryan dished out six assists.

 

6-2 Jr. Timothy Dunn led Bryan Station with 17 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Tequan Claitt added 14 points and five rebounds.  CJ Walker recorded 10 points and five assists.  Andre Davis chipped in with eight points.
