Junior Varsity – There were eight teams entered in this division. They were placed in two pools as follows: Pool A: Harlan, Mercer County, South Laurel, and Bryan Station and pool B: North Laurel, Henry Clay, Pineville, and Male.
Varsity – There were seven teams entered in this division. They were placed in two pools as follows: Pool A: North Laurel, Harlan, Male, and Bryan Station, and Pool B: Mercer County, Henry Clay, and South Laurel.
June 13th
Junior Varsity (Pool Play)
Male 47 Henry Clay 32 – Joelle Johnson and Destiny Combs led Male with 12 points each. Tyronia Carpenter led Henry Clay with nine points.
Bryan Station 52 Harlan 40 – Samaria Pierson and Brittany Cortes led Bryan Station with 33 and 11 points respectively. Amber King, Natalie King, and Jasmine Simpson led Harlan with 10, eight, and seven points respectively.
Mercer County 45 South Laurel 40 – Kenzie Burns and Rachel Leath led Mercer County with 14 and 10 points respectively. Amy Collett led South Laurel with 15 points.
Henry Clay 36 Pineville 30 – C. Jones and C. Gatewood led Henry Clay with eight and seven points respectively. Sarah Combs, Shayne Raftery, and Morgan Thompson led Pineville with seven points each.
Male 45 North Laurel 17 – Joelle Johnson and Derise Cox led Male with 11 points each. Alainey Robinson led North Laurel with eight points.
Mercer County 59 Harlan 25 – Rachel Leath and Kenzie Burns led Mercer County with 16 and 13 points each. Payton Charles led Harlan with eight points.
Bryan Station 43 South Laurel 34 – Brittany Cortes and Keliyn Clay led Bryan Station with 13 and eight points respectively. Amy Collett led South Laurel with 12 points. Smith added 11 points including three three point baskets.
Pineville 45 North Laurel 25 – Sophia Knuckles and Shayne Raftery led Pineville with 13 and nine points respectively. Dakota House led North Laurel with 12 points.
Varsity (Pool Play)
Male 65 Harlan 25 – Emilia Sexton led Male with 11 points including three three point baskets. I’Liyah Green, Taylor Kraft, and Ciaja Harbison added eight, eight, and seven points respectively. Jordan Brock and Brooklyn Massingill led Harlan with 10 and nine points respectively.
North Laurel 68 Bryan Station 55 – Kayla Bruner and Madison Sheppard led North Laurel with 26 and 15 points respectively. Kiauri Shannon and Keliyn Clay led Bryan Station with 10 and eight points respectively.
Henry Clay 43 South Laurel 24 – T’Laya Lyvers and Lexi Long led Henry Clay with 18 and 12 points respectively. Becca Phelps and Shelby Davis led South Laurel with nine and six points respectively.
Harlan 70 Bryan Station 48 – Jordan Brock and Brooklyn Massingill led Harlan with 27 and 22 points respectively. J’Lynn Martin led Bryan Station with 14 points.
Male 62 North Laurel 57 – Emilia Sexton, Ciaja Harbison, and I’Liyah Green led Male with 14, 12, and 11 points respectively. Kayla Bruner and Madison Sheppard led North Laurel with 21 and 14 points respectively.
Mercer County 63 South Laurel 39 – Faith Lake and Emma Davis led Mercer County with 19 and 11 points respectively. Shelby Davis led South Laurel with 17 points.
Henry Clay 73 Mercer County 71 – T’Laya Lyvers led Henry Clay with 28 points. Faith Lake, Emma Davis, Lexy Lake, and Seygan Robbins led Mercer County with 22, 16, 14, and 13 points respectively.
Sunday June 14th
Junior Varsity (Tournament Play)
Mercer County 44 North Laurel 38 (Quarterfinal) – Rachel Leath led Mercer County with 14 points including three three point baskets. Allie Burke added 12 points. Ashton Bridges and Isabel Gray led North Laurel with 14 and eight points respectively.
Henry Clay won South Laurel forfeit (Quarterfinal)
Male 46 Harlan 23 (Quarterfinal) – Derise Cox, Joelle Johnson, Cameron Browning, and Jamari Tillman led Male with nine, seven, six, and six points respectively. Kenzie King and Katelyn Burkhart led Harlan with six and five points respectively.
Pineville 54 Bryan Station 34 (Quarterfinal) – Shayne Raftery, Jill Enix, Sarah Combs, and Sophia Knuckles led Pineville with 14, 11, 10, and nine points respectively. Samaria Pierson led Bryan Station with 23 points.
Mercer County 46 Henry Clay 26 (Semifinal) – No stats recorded but Mercer County led by Allie Burke.
Pineville 40 Male 38 (Semifinal) – Jill Enix, Morgan Thompson, and Shayne Raftery led Pineville with 14, nine, and eight points respectively. Jada Owens and Joelle Johnson led Male with 13 and nine points respectively.
Mercer County 45 Pineville 26 (Championship) – Rachel Leath, Allie Burke, and Emmy Souder led Mercer County with 13, eight, and six points respectively. Jill Enix and Shayne Raftery led Pineville with 11 and six points respectively.
Varsity (Tournament Play)
Mercer County 79 Harlan 51 (Quarterfinal) – Emma Davis, Faith Lake, and Seygan Robbins led Mercer County with 18, 17, and 12 points respectively. Brooklyn Massingill, Shanae Thomas, Emma Bianchi, and Jordan Brock led Harlan with 17, 12, 10, and eight points respectively. Mercer County pulled away in the second half for the victory.
Henry Clay 51 Bryan Station 34 (Quarterfinal) – T’Laya Lyvers, Tyronia Carpenter, Kenja Thompson, and Cheyenne Jones led Henry Clay with 12, eight, eight, and six points respectively. J’Lynn Martin and Brittany Cortes led Bryan Station with 13 and eight points respectively.
North Laurel won South Laurel forfeit (Quarterfinal)
Male 86 Mercer County 82 (Semifinal) – Emilia Sexton, I’Liyah Green, and Ciaja Harbison led Male with 26, 23, and 15 points respectively. Seygan Robbins led Mercer County with 36 points. Emma Davis added 20 points including five three point baskets. Faith Lake chipped in with 11 points. Exciting game worthy of a championship contest at any level.
Henry Clay 61 North Laurel 17 (Semifinal) – North Laurel was missing Kayla Bruner with a hand injury. Alexis Lutz, Lexi Long, T’Laya Lyvers, Kenja Thompson, and Braxton Price led Henry Clay with 11, 10, nine, eight, and six points respectively. Madison Sheppard led North Laurel with five points.
Male 76 Henry Clay 64 (Championship) – Male pulled away to defeat Henry Clay in a hotly contested, physical game between two very talented teams. Both these teams should challenge for regional championships and a lofty state ranking in the upcoming season. Emilia Sexton, I’Liyah Green, India Green, and Ciaja Harbison led Male with 22, 16, 11, and 10 points respectively. T’Laya Lyvers led Henry Clay with 23 points. Braxton Price added 15 points including four three point baskets. Jordyn Jackson recorded 12 points.
The numbers were low in this tournament but the talent was at a very high level with several players destined for future stardom both at the high school level and beyond.
