Top Prospects at Florida Mini-Camp
Written by Rick Bolus | 12 June 2015
There
were five legit Division 1 prospects at the 2nd Annual High
Potential/Blue-Chip Camp June 6-7 at Warner University in Lake Wales, FL. Below
is a short capsule summary on each player. Players listed alphabetically and
class is for 2015-16.
5-11 sophomore Kenrique
Brown (Edwardsville Metro East Lutheran, IL) is an emerging point guard who
can handle, distribute the rock, penetrate and shoot the long range jumper from
downtown. Just needs a few more inches of growth which should occur in time.
6-3
sophomore Ty Hands (West Palm Beach Palm Beach Lakes, FL) is an
outstanding shooter from either mid to long range. Is very athletic and I like
his size for the backcourt. Plays like a typical coach's son and his best days
lie ahead of him.
6-6
senior John Mason (Avon Park, FL) is a versatile swingman who can play
the slots of either one, two or three in the college
ranks. He can either slash to the basket or shoot the rangy jump shot to put
points up on the scoreboard. Without a doubt a "Rip
Van Winkle" for the midmajor community.
Could use a little more strength.
6-4
freshman Jaren Phillips (Tampa Prep, FL-pending) could become a national
name before it is all over with. Plays more like a senior then a freshman.
He is quite versatile as he can do many things on the hardwood. Scores in a variety of ways from either inside or outside.
Watch out for this one down the road!
6-4 junior Daiquan Wyatt (West Palm Beach Palm Beach Lakes, FL) is a banging inside player who rebounds and powers around the basket for points, is very athletic and he can run the floor and leap out of the gym. Just needs to continue to work on his perimeter game.
