Monday January 11th

 

Southern vs. Valley

 

Coach Joe Harris’ Valley Vikings rallied from a 23 point deficit in the third quarter to defeat the Southern Trojans by a score of 76-73.  Southern led 44-24 at halftime but the Trojans’ coach Shedrick Jones Jr. cautioned his team that Valley would stage a comeback.  Valley cut the deficit to five; 56-51 late in the third quarter but Southern rallied to increase the lead to 13 early in the final quarter.  Valley finally went on a decisive 19-2 run in the final quarter and finally hit just enough late free throws to earn the victory.

 

6-1 So. Ty Walter led Valley with 20 points including 18 after the halftime intermission.  6-4 Jr. Eric George and 6-4 So. Curt Lewis added 14 and 13 points respectively.  6-2 Jr. Devious Brooks and 6-3 Jr. Raekwon Evans each scored 10 points. 

 

6-4 Sr. Glenn Hill led Southern with 20 points.  5-10 Sr. Michael Durbin and 6-3 Sr. Donquel Andrews added 15 and 14 points respectively.  6-5 Jr. Kendall Jones chipped in with 11 points.

Western vs. Butler

 

Butler never trailed and eked out a 44-41 victory over Western in a hotly contested game.  Western held a commanding edge in rebounds but turnovers and poor field goal shooting sealed their fate in this game.  6-2 Jr. Austin Wise and 6-1 Jr. Ryan Luckett led the victors with 11 points each.  5-11 So. Jequay Wells added eight points.

 

6-0 Sr. Genario Ferrell led Western with 17 points including four three point baskets.  6-2 Sr. Leon Malone, 5-8 Sr. Jordan Johnson, and 6-2 Sr. Charles Rhodes added seven, six, and six points respectively.

Christian Academy of Louisville vs. Waggener

 

Waggener shot 51.1% from the field and led by 24 points in the final quarter to earn a 61-47 victory over Christian Academy of Louisville.  CAL went on a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter but couldn’t overcome the large deficit. 

 

6-2 Jr. Jacquess Hobbs with 18 points including four three point baskets.  6-5 Sr. Kevin Kirby recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Isiah Knight and 6-8 Sr. Nicholas Kratholm each recorded eight points.

 

5-10 Sr. Gregory Frist and 5-8 Jr. Parker Jones led CAL with 11 points each.

DeSales vs. Kentucky Country Day

 

KCD took a 21-7 first quarter lead and was never threatened in a 70-44 victory over DeSales.  DeSales was outrebounded 39-25 and could only manage two of 22 from beyond the arc which spelled doom against the hot shooting KCD squad.  6-1 Sr. Colin Ferguson led KCD with 34 points and nine rebounds.  5-11 Jr. JR Mathis added 19 points including three three point baskets.

 

6-4 Sr. DeShawn Bell led DeSales with 13 points and 6-1 Jr. Jaxon Burgess added 10 points.

Tuesday January 12th

 

Central vs. Fern Creek

 

Coach James Schooler’s Fern Creek Tigers scored the last nine points of overtime to defeat Central by a score of 52-44.  Coach Doug Bibby’s Central Yellowjackets raced out to a 22-11 lead late in the first quarter paced by 6-4 Sr. Dai’Von Thompson’s 11 points.  However Thompson went to the bench with foul woes in the second quarter and Fern Creek rallied to lead 29-28 at halftime.  Thompson hit a free throw with approximately six seconds left in regulation to force overtime but fouled out with 3:35 left in overtime.  6-1 Sr. Tony Washington took over for Fern Creek to ensure the victory.

 

6-1 Sr. Tony Washington led Fern Creek with 19 points including two three point baskets.  5-8 So. Anthony Wales and 6-4 So. Clint Wickliffe added 11 and nine points respectively.

 

6-4 Sr. Dai’Von Thompson led Central with 17 points despite being hampered by foul problems.  6-1 Jr. Derron Douglas also reached double figures with 10 points.

DuPont Manual vs. Eastern

 

6-0 Jr. Javen Rushins’s put back basket at the buzzer gave Eastern a 56-54 victory over DuPont Manual.  DuPont Manual held a 50-42 lead but Eastern rallied and outscored the Crimsons 14-4 to close out the game.  The score was tied 54-54 with 1:26 remaining and Eastern ran down the clock but missed a shot and a putback attempt before Rushin hit the game winner.

 

6-0 Jr. Javen Rushin and 6-5 Jr. Chance Moore led Eastern with 16 points each.  6-0 Sr. Kobey Jones added 10 points. 

 

6-3 Sr. Eric Niemann led DuPont Manual with 17 points.  6-0 Sr. Steve Gordon added 12 points and seven rebounds.

North Bullitt led 35-29 midway through the third quarter but St. Xavier finished the game on a 34-10 run to earn a 63-45 victory.  6-2 Sr. Connor McKim led St. Xavier with 37 points including four three point baskets and 15 of 17 free throws.  6-3 Sr. William Olsen added 10 points.

 

6-1 Sr. Ryan Henson led North Bullitt with 17 points and 5-9 Sr. Jarad Free added 13 points.

Doss defeated Pleasure Ridge Park by a score of 51-39.  6-4 Sr. Kenyi Bryant led Doss with 20 points including four three point baskets.  6-5 Sr. Kel’Shawn Knight-Goff added 12 points and six rebounds. 

 

6-3 Sr. Chris Drabo led Pleasure Ridge Park with 12 points including two three point baskets and six rebounds.  6-1 Sr. Hunter Stevenson and 6-1 So. Gerald Gray added 10 and nine points respectively.

Kentucky Country Day vs. Male

 

Coach Willie Feldhaus’ Male Bulldogs missed their first 11 shots and fell behind by nine points but rallied to outscore KCD 64-39 over the last three quarters to earn a 74-53 victory.  Male made an early defensive adjustment and hit 1o three point baskets to take control of the game.

 

6-6 Sr. Alex Cook led Male with 19 points.  5-10 Sr. Corey Bowman added 16 points including four three point baskets.  5-8 Sr. Cornelius Watts chipped in with 13 points.

 

5-11 Jr. JR Mathis led KCD with 25 points including three three point baskets.  6-1 Sr. Colin Ferguson added 16 points.

Ballard defeated Waggener by a score of 67-57.  It was a tale of two halves today as Ballard held a 39-16 halftime lead but Waggener outscored the Bruins 41-28 in the second half but could not overcome the huge early deficit. 

 

6-3 Sr. Clivonte Patterson led Ballard with 21 points and eight rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Brian Alvey added 16 points including four three point baskets.  5-9 Jr. Jamil Wilson recorded 14 points.

 

6-2 Jr. Jacquess Hobbs led Waggener with 22 points.  5-9 Sr. Isiah Knight added 15 points including three three point baskets.

Trinity shot 60.7% from the field in the first half to lead 38-22 at halftime on their way to a 73-62 victory over Valley.  Coach Mike Szabo’s Shamrocks were rebounded 36-23 but shot less than 40% from the field for the game. 

 

6-1 Sr. Gabriel Schmitt and 6-2 Jr. LJ Harris led Trinity with 17 points each.  5-9 Jr. Jacob King added 14 points and 6-0 Jr. Lucas Burkman chipped in with 11 points.

 

6-1 So. Ty Walter led Valley with 16 points including three three point baskets.  6-0 Fr. Cameron Wilson added 14 points including four three point baskets.  6-4 So. Curtis Lewis recorded 13 points.  6-4 Jr. Eric George chipped in with 10 points including three three point baskets.

6-1 Sr. Tyler Sharpe connected on five three point baskets in the third quarter to help Bullitt East break open the game on their way to a 75-54 victory over Butler.  Sharpe led Bullitt East with 23 points including seven three point baskets.  5-11 Sr. Garrett Wilson added 13 points including three three point baskets.  5-10 Sr. Bailey Rakes recorded 11 points including two three point baskets.

Male led 30-29 midway through the third quarter and pulled away for a 63-48 victory over Doss.  Doss could only manage two of 25 from beyond the arc.  6-6 Sr. Alex Cook led Male with 18 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.  5-10 Sr. Deondrai Williams added 10 points and four assists.  5-8 Sr. Cornelius Watts and 6-4 Jr. Hogan Brownley chipped in with nine and eight points respectively.

 

6-4 Sr. Kenyi Bryant led Doss with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  6-5 Sr. Kel’Shawn Knight-Goff added 14 points and three blocked shots.  6-3 Sr. Laron Hargrove added eight points.

Trinity raced out to a 16-8 first quarter lead on their way to a 59-45 victory over Eastern.  6-1 Sr. Gabriel Schmitt led Trinity with 14 points including two three point baskets.  5-9 Jr. Jacob King added 12 points.  6-2 Jr. LJ Harris recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds.  6-2 Jr. David Burton also scored 10 points.

 

6-4 Jr. Caleb Williams led Doss with 14 points and eight rebounds.  6-0 So. Kobey Jones added 12 points.  6-5 Jr. Chance Moore chipped in with seven points.

Ballard led 53-47 after three quarters and opened the final quarter with a 13-3 run on their way to a 68-58 victory over Fern Creek.  5-9 Sr. Brian Alvey led Ballard with 19 points including two three point baskets.  5-9 Jr. Jamil Wilson added 16 points including two three point baskets.  6-2 So. Delonta Wimberly and 6-2 So. Dorian Tisby recorded nine and eight points respectively.

 

6-1 Sr. Tony Washington led Fern Creek with 12 points.  6-2 So. Ahmad Price and 6-4 So. Clint Wickliffe added 11 and eight points respectively.

St. Xavier led Bullitt East 49-47 with 1:25 left in the game and hit five free throws in the final minute to earn a 54-49 victory.  St. Xavier scored 22 points off 16 Bullitt East turnovers.  6-2 Sr. Connor McKim led St. Xavier with three three point baskets and nine of 10 free throws.  6-5 So. Evan Walker added 10 points.

 

6-1 Sr. Tyler Sharpe led Bullitt East with 15 points.  6-3 Sr. Brandon Klefot added nine points.

St. Xavier vs. Ballard (Semifinal)

 

Ballard rallied from an early 10 point deficit to defeat St. Xavier by a score of 60-54 but it didn’t come easy.  St. Xavier took a 52-50 lead with 2:44 left in the game but Ballard rallied to earn a hard fought decision.  Ballard shot 37.5% from the field, connected on 22 of 31 free throws, and pulled down 35 rebounds.  St. Xavier shot 47.7% from the field, connected on eight of 16 free throws, and pulled down 30 rebounds. 

 

6-3 Sr. Jake Ramsey led Ballard with 17 points.  6-3 Jr. Clivonte Patterson added 14 points and 5-9 Sr. Brian Alvey chipped in with nine points.

 

6-2 Sr. Connor McKim led St. Xavier with 17 points including three three point baskets.  6-7 So. John Kiesler added 12 points.

Trinity led 48-44 late in the third quarter and their defense helped them close the game with a 19-7 run to earn the 67-51 victory.  Ballard made 16 of 16 free throws including a perfect 10 of 10 in the final quarter. 

 

5-9 Jr. Jacob King led Trinity with 20 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, and five assists.  6-1 Sr. Gabriel Schmitt added 19 points and 6-2 Jr. LJ Harris recorded 16 points.

 

6-6 Sr. Alex Cook led St. Xavier with 18 points.  6-2 So. Rasean McCauley added 10 points.  5-8 Sr. Cornelius Watts and 6-4 Jr. Hogan Brownley each recorded nine points.

Ballard vs. Trinity (Championship)

 

Ballard fell behind 20-10 early in the second quarter but rallied to defeat Trinity by a score of 58-54 and continues to improve from what for Ballard was a disastrous 3-4 start after seven games.  5-9 Jr. Jamil Wilson led Ballard with 27 points including four three point baskets and was named the LJ “Butch” Charmoli LIT MVP Award.  6-3 Sr. Jake Ramsey added 11 points and five rebounds and 6-3 Jr. Clivonte Patterson recorded eight points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.

 

6-1 Sr. Gabriel Schmitt led Trinity with 14 points including two three point baskets.  6-0 Jr. Lucas Burkman added 12 points on four three point baskets.  5-9 Jr. Jacob King chipped in with nine points.
