Thursday March 30th

 

Shadow Mountain (AZ) vs. Montverde Academy (FL) (Boys) (Quarterfinal)

 

Shadow Mountain coach Mike Bibby started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Darion Spottsville, 6-3 Sr. Jordan Pace, 6-6 Sr. Tyler Jafary, 6-1 So. Jovan Blacksher, and 6-3 Sr. Marcus Shaver.  Montverde Academy (FL) coach Kevin Boyle countered with 6-7 So. RJ Barrett, 6-7 Jr. Rechon Black, 6-9 Sr. Grant Shepard, 6-1 Sr. Marcus Carr, and 6-3 Sr. Cameron Healy.

 

Montverde Academy utilized their size advantage to hold a commanding edge on the boards (45-21) in a 74-61 victory over Shadow Mountain.  However the Matadors did not go down without a fight.  Montverde Academy raced out to a 15 point lead in the first quarter but Shadow Mountain buoyed by their three point shooting actually took a 37-36 lead at halftime.  Montverde established their superiority after the intermission to pull away for the victory.  The score was tied three times and there were three lead changes in the game.

 

Montverde Academy shot 47.5% from the field including eight of 18 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 11 points off five Shadow Mountain turnovers.  Montverde Academy held a 19-6 advantage in second chance points.  Shadow Mountain shot 44.4% from the field including six of 14 from beyond the arc. The Matadors connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored six points off Montverde Academy turnovers.

 

RJ Barrett led Montverde Academy with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists.  6-10 Sr. Sandro Mamukelashvili added 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Rechon Black recorded nine points and six rebounds.  Cameron Healy added nine points on three three point baskets and four assists.  Marcus Carr scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds.

 

Jovan Blacksher led Shadow Mountain with 20 points including two three point baskets.  Marcus Shaver added 19 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Darion Spottsville recorded four points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Oak Hill (VA) coach Steve Smith started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Ty-Shon Alexander, 6-2 Sr. Matt Coleman, 6-10 Jr. David McConnick, 6-2 Sr. Lindell Wiggington, and 6-2 Sr. Devontae Shuler.  Findlay Prep (NV) coach Paul Washington countered with 6-9 Sr. PJ Washington, 6-7 Sr. Donnie Tillman, 6-8 Jr. Reggie Chaney, 6-0 Sr. Justin Roberts, and 6-6 Sr. Lamine Diane.

 

Findlay Prep pulled away in the second half to defeat a cold shooting (35.7%) Oak Hill team by a score of 77-65.  Findlay Prep shot 56.9% from the field including five of 10 from the three point line.  The Pilots connected on 14 of 24 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 12 Oak Hill turnovers.  Oak Hill shot 35.7% from the filed including eight of 30 from beyond the arc.  Oak Hill attempted 19 more shots (70-51) from the field than Findlay Prep.  The Oaks connected on seven of 16 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 14 Findlay Prep turnovers.

 

PJ Washington led Findlay Prep with 22 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, three assists, and five blocked shots.  Reggie Chaney added 21 points and nine rebounds.  Lamine Diane also scored 21 points and four rebounds.  Diane was 10 of 13 from the field including zero of one from beyond the arc, and one of two free throws.  Donnie Tillman pulled down 10 rebounds.

 

6-9 Sr. Billy Preston led Oak Hill with 21 points including two three point baskets and nine rebounds.  Lindell Wiggington added 13 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and seven assists.  Ty-Shon Alexander chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets.  Devontae Shuler added nine points and 12 rebounds.

Greensboro Day defeated IMG Academy by a score of 59-40.  Greensboro Day shot 37.3% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line.  The Bengals connected on 17 of 19 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 19 IMG Academy turnovers.  IMG Academy shot 35.7% from the field including four of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Ascenders connected on six of 16 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored eight points off 12 Greensboro Day turnovers.

 

JP Moorman led Greensboro Day with 15 points including eight of nine free throws, seven rebounds, and four steals.  Jordan Perkins added 14 points including three three point baskets, eight rebounds, and four assists.  Will Dillard recorded 10 points including six of six free throws, five rebounds, and five assists.  Solomon Smith added eight points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

 

Trevon Duval led IMG Academy with 14 points including two three point baskets and three steals.  Silvio De Sousa and Sr. DeAndre Osingwe each recorded six points and four rebounds.  Emmitt Williams added four points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.

La Lumiere defeated Wasatch (UT) by a score of 64-52.  La Lumiere shot 34.5% from the field including two of 13 from the three point line.  The Lakers connected on 22 of 24 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Wasatch turnovers.  Wasatch shot 26.9% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 49 rebounds, and scored nine points off La Lumiere turnovers.

 

Brian Bowen led La Lumiere (IN) with 21 points and nine rebounds.  Jaren Jackson Jr. added 19 points including eight of eight free throws, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  6-5 Sr. Jordan Poole chipped in with 10 points including five of five free throws.  Jacob Epperson recorded eight points, six rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Tyger Campbell added six points, five rebounds, and five assists.

 

Emmanuel Akot led Wasatch (UT) with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and two steals.  Jeff Baradziej added 11 points including two three point baskets.  Josip Vrankic recorded 10 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists.

St. Frances (MD) vs. Hamilton Heights (TN) (Girls) (Semifinal)

 

St. Frances (MD) coach Jerome Shelton started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Mia Davis, 5-11 Sr. Jatarrikah Settle, 6-2 Fr. Angel Reese, 5-4 Sr. Mikiara Carroll, and 5-8 Jr. Nia Clouden.  Hamilton Heights (TN) coach Keisha Hunt countered with 6-0 Jr. Jazmine Massengill, 6-0 Fr. Treasure Hunt, 6-6 Fr. Kamila Cardosa, 5-8 Sr. Amber Hunt, and 6-1 Jr. Elizabeth Balogun.

 

Hamilton Heights (TN) led by 13 points late in the third quarter but St. Frances (MD) rallied to force overtime but Hamilton Heights managed to hold on for a 56-55 victory.  St. Frances had a shot at the win but could not get the shot to fall.  The score was tied six times and there were three lead changes in this game.

 

Hamilton Heights (TN) shot 36.1% from the field including five of 18 from the three point line.  The Hawks connected on seven of 14 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 15 St. Frances (MD) turnovers.  St. Frances (MD) shot 23 % from the field including four of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on 17 of 27 free throws, pulled down 61 rebounds, and scored nine points off 17 Hamilton Heights (TN) turnovers.

 

Elizabeth Balogun led Hamilton Heights (TN) with 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists, seven blocked shots, and three steals.  Jazmine Massengill added 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Treasure Hunt chipped in with nine points and Amber Hunt recorded nine points on three three point baskets.  Kamila Cardosa added four points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.

 

Angel Reese led St. Frances (MD) with 20 points including 10 of 14 free throws, 24 rebounds, six assists, and three blocked shots.  Mia Davis added 13 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals.  Nia Clouden recorded 12 points.  5-6 Fr. Miami Country Day (FL) raced out to a 15-2 first quarter lead and withstood a fourth quarter rally by Seton Catholic (AZ) to earn a 55-48 victory.  Miami Country Day shot 44% from the field including seven of 17 from the three point line.  The Spartans connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 17 Seton Catholic (AZ) turnovers.  Seton Catholic (AZ) shot 42.6% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc.  They connected on three of seven free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Miami Country Day (FL) turnovers.

 

Channise Lewis led Miami Country Day (FL) with 21 points including three three point baskets, six assists, and three steals.  Asha Taylor added 10 points including two three point baskets and nine rebounds.  Kelsey Marshall recorded eight points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Aaysia Berry also recorded eight points and four rebounds.  Maria Alvarez added eight points including two three point baskets.

La Lumiere (IN) defeated Findlay Prep (NV) 54-52 in a game that feature runs by both teams.  Findlay Prep led 25-20 at halftime but La Lumiere outscored Findlay Prep 24-7 in the third quarter to take a 44-32 lead.  Findlay Prep rallied in the final quarter to outscore La Lumiere 20-10 but was unable to secure the win as La Lumiere held on for the victory.  The score was tied three times and there were two lead changes in this game.

 

La Lumiere (IN) shot 34.8% from the field including seven of 17 from the three point line.  The Lakers connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 13 Findlay Prep (NV) turnovers.  Findlay Prep (NV) shot 32.7% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Pilots connected on only 14 of 35 (40%) from the free throw line, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 14 points of La Lumiere (IN) turnovers.

 

Brian Bowen led La Lumiere (IN) with 19 points and seven rebounds.  Jaren Jackson Jr. added 11 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.  6-5 Sr. Jordan Poole chipped in with nine points.  Jacob Epperson blocked six shots.

 

PJ Washington led Findlay Prep (NV) with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three blocked shots.  Lamine Diane and Justin Roberts added 10 and nine points respectively.  Reggie Chaney recorded seven points, 11 rebounds, and three steals.  Donnie Tillman also pulled down 11 rebounds.

Miami Country Day (FL) dominated play today in an 81-55 victory over Hamilton Heights (TN).  Miami Country Day (FL) shot 47.6% from the field including 13 of 32 from the three point line.  The Spartans connected on eight of 10 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored seven points off eight Hamilton Heights (TN) turnovers.  Hamilton Heights (TN) shot 27.6% from the field including six of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Hawks connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored nine points off seven Miami Country Day (FL) turnovers.

 

Maria Alvarez led Miami Country Day (FL) with 26 points including eight of 11 from the three point line.  Kelsey Marshall added 23 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Aaysia Berry recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Channise Lewis chipped in with seven points, six rebounds, and 10 assists.

La Lumiere (IN) trailed 28-27 at halftime but pulled away in the second half to defeat Montverde Academy (FL) by a score of 70-52.  La Lumiere shot a sizzling 70.6% from the field in the second half.  La Lumiere (IN) shot 45.3% from the field including eight of 25 from the three point line.  The Lakers connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 17 points off nine Montverde Academy (FL) turnovers.  Montverde Academy (FL) shot 34.5% from the field including five of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored eight points off six La Lumiere (IN) turnovers.
