Okawville vs. Effingham Class A (Championship)

Okawville coach Jon Kraus started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Noah Frederking, 6-3 Sr. Shane Ganz, 6-5 Sr. Kirklen Meier, 5-8 Sr. Josh Madrid, and 6-2 Jr. Caleb Frederking. Effingham (St. Anthony) coach Cody Rincker countered with 6-3 Sr. Drew Gibson, 6-2 Jr. Alex Deters, 6-5 Jr. Alex Beesley, 5-11 Jr. Cade Walsh, and 6-2 Jr. Adam Levitt.

Effingham (St. Anthony) defeated Okawville 49-46 in overtime. The score was tied twice and there were six lead changes in the game. Effingham (St. Anthony) shot 46.3% from the field including three of eight from the three point line. They connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Okawville turnovers. Okawville shot 53.1% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc. The Rockets connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 15 points off eight Effingham (St. Anthony) turnovers.

Drew Gibson led Effingham (St. Anthony) with 14 points including six of eight free throws and five rebounds. Alex Beesley also scored 14 points and pulled down four rebounds. Adam Levitt recorded 12 points and six rebounds.

Noah Frederking led Okawville with 26 points including seven of nine free throws and seven rebounds. Shane Ganz added nine points and five assists.

Chicago (Orr) coach Louis Adams started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Dannie Smith, 6-5 Jr. Raekwon Drake, 6-6 Jr. Tyron Mosely, 5-11 Sr. Alexander Flute, and 6-3 Sr. Samuel Williams. Mt Carmel coach Tyler Buss countered with 6-8 Jr. Jackson Marcotte, 6-3 So. Austin Rager, 6-9 Sr. Justin Carpenter, 6-0 Jr. Brayden Stipp, and 6-2 So. Brett Doan.

Chicago (Orr) defeated Mt. Carmel by a score of 59-39. Chicago (Orr) shot 48.1% from the field including two of eight from the three point line. The Spartans connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Mt. Carmel turnovers. Mt. Carmel shot 32.6% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc. The Golden Aces connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored one point off four Chicago (Orr) turnovers.

Dannie Smith led Chicago (Orr) with 19 points, four rebounds, and seven assists. Raekwon Drake added 17 points and four rebounds. 6-3 Jr. Emanuel O’Neal recorded eight points and five rebounds.

Jackson Marcotte led Mt. Carmel with 17 points and six rebounds. Justin Carpenter added eight points and nine rebounds. Austin Rager pulled down 11 rebounds.

Chicago (Morgan Park) coach Nick Irvin started the following lineup: 6-10 Jr. Tamell Pearson, 6-7 Sr. Melo Burrell, 6-9 Sr. Lenell Henry, 6-0 Sr. Cam Irvin, and 6-2 So. Lamond Johnson. Oak Park (Fenwick) coach Rick Malnati countered with 6-3 Sr. Jacob Keller, 6-2 Jr. AJ Nixon, 6-5 Sr. Jamal Nixon, 6-1 Fr. DJ Steward, and 6-2 Jr. Billy Bruce.

Oak Park (Fenwick) led 51-40 with less than six minutes left in regulation but Chicago (Morgan Park) rallied and the game was tied 55-55 at the end of regulation. Chicago (Morgan Park) completed the comeback and defeated Oak Park (Fenwick) 69-67 in overtime. The score was tied eight times and there were 11 lead changes in the game.

Chicago (Morgan Park) shot 41.3% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line. The Mustangs connected on 23 of 30 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 32 points off 23 Oak Park (Fenwick) turnovers. Oak Park (Fenwick) shot 44% from the field including seven of 18 from beyond the arc. The Friars connected on 16 of 23 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 21 Chicago (Morgan Park) turnovers.

6-2 Fr. Nimari Burnett led Chicago (Morgan Park) with 24 points including six three point baskets. Cam Irvin added 12 points. Melo Burrell recorded nine points and 10 rebounds. Lenell Henry pulled down eight rebounds.

DJ Steward led Oak Park (Fenwick) with 26 points and seven rebounds. Steward was perfect from the field (10 of 10 from the field including two of two from beyond the arc and four of four free throws). AJ Nixon added 14 points including four three point baskets and seven rebounds. Jacob Keller recorded eight points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Chicago (Simeon) coach Robert Smith started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Talen Horton-Tucker, 6-2 Jr. Marquis Brown, 6-6 Jr. Messiah Jones, 6-1 So. Kejuan Clements, and 5-11 Sr. Evan Gilyard. Chicago (Whitney Young) coach Tyrone Slaughter countered with 6-4 Sr. Craig Beaudion, 6-4 Jr. Justin Boyd, 6-5 Sr. Lucas Williamson, 6-1 Jr. Xavier Castaneda, and 6-3 Jr. Javon Freeman.

Chicago (Whitney Young) outscored Chicago (Simeon) 10-0 in overtime to earn a 60-50 victory. There were five ties and nine lead changes in this game. Chicago (Whitney Young) shot 45.2% from the field including 10 of 19 from the three point line. The Dolphins connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 11 points off six Chicago (Simeon) turnovers. Chicago (Simeon) shot 36.75 from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc. They connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 10 Whitney Young turnovers.

Lucas Williamson led Chicago (Whitney Young) with 19 points including five three point baskets and nine rebounds. Justin Boyd added 17 points including five three point baskets and four rebounds. Xavier Castaneda recorded eight points, three rebounds, and nine assists.

Evan Gilyard led Chicago (Simeon) with 16 points including two three point baskets and four assists. Talen Horton-Tucker added 13 points and five rebounds. Messiah Jones recorded six points and 11 rebounds.
