Mayfield vs. Kentucky Country Day

 

Mayfield coach Chris Guhy started the following lineup: 6-2 So. Conner Guthrie, 6-0 Sr. Anton Lumson, 6-3 So. Carson Guthrie, 5-11 Jr. Jordan Harrison, and 5-11 So. Kent Trey Matthews.  Kentucky Country Day coach James Booker countered with 5-10 Sr. Hayden Kraus, 6-0 Sr. Connor Wildman, 5-10 Jr. Wilder Brice, 5-7 Jr. Solomon Mathis, and 5-11 Sr. Anthony Mathis.

 

Mayfield defeated Kentucky Country Day by a score of 85-73.  Mayfield shot 63% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine KCD turnovers.  KCD shot 41.7% from the field including eight of 25 from beyond the arc.  KCD attempted 18 more shots (72-54) from the field than Maysville.  The Bearcats connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 15 Mayfield turnovers.

 

Conner Guthrie led Mayfield with 25 points including two three point baskets, three blocked shots, and four steals.  Carson Guthrie added 21 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots.  Anton Lumson recorded 12 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.  6-1 So. Desean Jones chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds.

 

Solomon Mathis led KCD with 22 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Anthony Mathis added 20 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and four assists.  Hayden Kraus recorded 18 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds.

Russellville defeated East Ridge by a score of 63-52.  The score was tied six times and there were seven lead changes in this game.  Russellville shot 47.8% from the field including four of nine from the three point line.  The Panthers connected on 15 of 24 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 17 East Ridge turnovers.  East Ridge shot 40% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Warriors connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 14 Russellville turnovers.

 

DeAndre Bradshaw led Russellville with 19 points including 13 of 16 free throws, 13 rebounds, six assists, and two steals.  Jaylyn McMurry added 14 points, five rebounds, three blocked shots, and five steals.  Jacob Naylor chipped in with 13 points.  Micah Naylor recorded six points, five rebounds, and three assists.

 

Michael Conn led East Ridge with 18 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.  Dawson Clark added 17 points including four three point baskets and four rebounds.  Matt Miller recorded eight points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Newport Central Catholic pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Cordia by a score of 65-57.  The score was tied eight times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Newport Central Catholic shot 44.4% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line.  The Thorobreds connected on 21 of 29 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Cordia turnovers.  Cordia shot 42% from the field including one of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lions connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored two points off two Newport Central Catholic turnovers.

 

Brendan Luken led Newport Central Catholic with 22 points including two three point baskets.  Brennan Hall added 16 points including eight of 11 free throws and five assists.  Luke Moeves chipped in with 14 points.

 

Kareem McDonald led Cordia with 15 points and six rebounds.  Malik Henry added 13 points and 15 rebounds.  Oumar Keita recorded nine points and nine rebounds.

University Height outscored Fort Knox 25-8 in the second quarter on their way to an 80-56 victory.  University Heights shot 47.1% from the field including 10 of 25 from the three point line.  The Blazers connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 15 Fort Knox turnovers.  Fort Knox shot 37,7% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 University Heights turnovers.

 

Dekeyvan Tandy led University Heights with 30 points including two three point baskets and six rebounds.  Tavion Hollowell added 15 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.  5-11 Jr. Jordan Johnson chipped in with 13 points including two three point baskets.  Taquan Hollowell recorded nine points and 13 rebounds.

 

Camron Gore led Fort Knox with 14 points and nine rebounds.  Devon Horne added 12 points and six rebounds.  6-2 Sr. Kamoni Green recorded 12 points including six of six free throws.

Jacob Mulcahy led Owensboro Catholic with 12 points including two three point baskets.  John Marshall added nine points and four rebounds.  6-3 Jr. Gabriel McFarland recorded seven points and five rebounds.

 

Frederick Carnes led Pineville with eight points and eight rebounds.  Trent Lefevers also scored eight points.

Paris defeated Elliott County by a score of 67-58.  Paris shot 45.8% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Greyhounds connected on 17 of 25 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 17 Elliott County turnovers.  Elliott County shot 48.9% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lions connected on eight of 21 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 17 Paris turnovers.

 

Jekobi Wells led Paris with 26 points including seven of 10 free throws, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Eric Johnson added 13 points including two three point baskets and six rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Tayjin Cunningham recorded 12 points.

 

Chase Porter led Elliott County with 23 points including four three point baskets, nine rebounds, and four assists.  Korbin Spencer added 20 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Gage Evans chipped in with 10 points.

Walton Verona pulled away in the second half to defeat Danville by a score of 46-33.  The score was tied three times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Walton Verona shot 37.9% from the field including four of nine from the three point line.  The Bearcats connected on 20 of 29 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored nine points off eight Danville turnovers.  Danville shot 24.4% from the field including five of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Admirals connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Walton Verona turnovers.

 

Zach Clinkenbeard led Walton Verona with 16 points including four three point baskets and 10 rebounds.  Dieonte Miles added 12 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocked shots.

Lexington Christian Academy raced out to an 18-7 first quarter lead on their way to a 61-40 victory over Louisville Holy Cross.  LCA shot 55.1% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on three of eight from the free throw line, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 17 Holy Cross turnovers.  Holy Cross shot 31.9% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Cougars connected on three of 10 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 12 LCA turnovers.

 

Kyle Rode led LCA with 15 points and seven assists.  Chandler Stewart added 13 points including three three point baskets and four assists.  Carter Hendricksen recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.

 

Cade Crawley led Holy Cross with 11 points including three three point baskets.  Chase Phillips added nine points on three three point baskets.  Ethan Driskell recorded five points and seven rebounds.  Nathan Harper chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Austin Hall recorded six points, four rebounds, and four blocked shots.

DeAndre Bradshaw led Russellville with 23 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots, and three steals.  Jacob Naylor also scored 23 points including four three point baskets.  Micah Naylor chipped in with 13 points and four rebounds.  Jaylyn McMurry recorded 11 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.

 

Conner Guthrie led Mayfield with 20 points including five three point baskets, three rebounds, and three assists.  Anton Lumson added 13 points and five rebounds. Carson Guthrie recorded eight points, six rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.

Brennan Hall led the victors with 26 points including six three point baskets, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Luke Moeves added 13 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.

 

Dekeyvan Tandy led University Heights with 22 points including two three point baskets.  Drew McGowan added 12 points.  Tavion Hollowell recorded 11 points, six rebounds, and 10 assists.  Taquan Hollowell chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds, and three steals.

Paris held on down the stretch to defeat Owensboro Catholic by a score of 46-44.  The score was tied three times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Paris shot 33-3% from the field including three of 17 from the three point line.  Paris attempted 15 more shots (51-36) from the field than Owensboro Catholic.  The Greyhounds connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Owensboro Catholic turnovers.  Owensboro Catholic shot 44.4% from the field including three of nine from beyond the arc.  The Aces connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and did not score off five Paris turnovers.

 

Jekobi Wells led Paris with 15 points including seven of nine free throws and five rebounds.  Eric Johnson added 10 points and three steals.  Jordan Davis recorded eight points and nine rebounds.

The Eagles connected on three of three free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Walton Verona turnovers.  Walton Verona shot 40% from the field including four of seven from beyond the arc.  The Bearcats connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored eight points off 13 LCA turnovers.

 

Austin Hall led LCA with 14 points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Kyle Rode added 13 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.  Nathan Harper recorded 12 points including two three point baskets.  Carter Hendricksen chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.

Newport Central Catholic outscored Russellville 16-6 in overtime to earn a 61-51 victory.  Newport Central Catholic shot 43.3% from the field including three of 16 from the three point line.  The Thorobreds connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 50 rebounds, and scored four points off eight Russellville turnovers.  Russellville shot 22.7% from the field including five of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on 12 of 22 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 21 Newport Central Catholic turnovers.  Russellville attempted 15 more shots (75-60) from the field than Newport Central Catholic.

 

6-6 Sr. Trey Wurtz led Newport Central Catholic with 15 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Brendan Luken added 14 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Jalen McDaniel chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds.  Luke Moeves added eight points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Brennan Hall recorded seven points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

 

Jacob Naylor led Russellville with 18 points including three three point baskets.  DeAndre  Bradshaw added 17 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, and seven blocked shots.  Jaylyn McMurry recorded seven points and 11 rebounds.

Paris defeated Lexington Christian Academy by a score of 65-58.  Paris shot 48% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line.  The Greyhounds connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 15 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 42.3% from the field including seven of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 16 Paris turnovers.

 

Eric Johnson led Paris with 27 points including five three point baskets and four rebounds.  Jekobi Wells added 22 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. 

 

Austin Hall led LCA with 15 points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Kyle Rode added 11 points and five assists.  Nathan Harper also scored 11 points including three three point baskets.  Chandler Stewart recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and six assists.  Carter Hendricksen chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.

Paris took control early and defeated Newport Central Catholic by a score of 66-48 to claim the championship.  Paris shot 44.4% from the field including eight of 15 from the three point line.  The Greyhounds connected on 10 of 12 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Newport Central Catholic turnovers.  Newport Central Catholic shot 39% from the field including six of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Thorobreds connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored three points off seven Paris turnovers.

 

Eric Johnson led Paris with 19 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  Jekobi Wells added 15 points.  6-1 Sr. Ryan Davis chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets, six rebounds, and three assists.  5-7 Jr. Marcus Ashford recorded nine points, three rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  5-9 Sr. Tayjin Cunningham added nine points.
