Riverdale (34-0) vs. Memphis Central (30-7) Class AAA Championship

 

Riverdale coach Randy Coffman started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Amanda Whittington, 5-11 Jr. Alexis Whittington, 5-11 Jr. Brinae Alexander, 5-7 Sr. Anastasia Hayes, and 5-10 So. Aislynn Hayes.  Memphis Central coach Rashad Haynes countered with 5-8 Jr. Jireh Washington, 5-6 So. Brianna Cooks, 5-8 Jr. Johne’ Stewart, 5-5 So. Ariel Lane, and 5-4 So. Kynadi Kuykendoll.

 

Riverdale le 48-47 after three quarters and held on to defeat Memphis Central by a score of 66-59.  Riverdale shot 48.9% from the field including two of 14 from the three point line.  They connected on 18 of 26 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and committed 10 turnovers.  Memphis Central shot 36.2% from the field including eight of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Warriors connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and committed seven turnovers.

 

Anastasia Hayes led Riverdale with 33 points including 13 of 17 free throws and six rebounds.  Amanda Whittington added 11 points.  Brinae Alexander recorded nine points and 16 rebounds.

 

Jireh Washington led Memphis Central with 20 points including five three point baskets, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Brianna Cooks added 17 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds.  Johne’ Stewart recorded 14 points and four rebounds.  5-8 Sr. Bionka Massie pulled down eight rebounds.

Pearl Cohn (26-5) vs. Upperman (34-4) Class AA Championship

 

Pearl Cohn coach Kendra Bailey started the following lineup:5-11 So. Yaubyron Chambers, 5-8 Sr. Shanice Nelson, 6-0 Sr. Monae Mayes, 5-3 Jr. Shawnta Shaw, and 5-5 Sr. Janiah Sandifer.  Upperman coach Dana McWilliams countered with 5-10 Jr. Riley Hurst, 5-10 Sr. Abby Greenwood, 5-10 Sr. Lexie Strickland, 5-6 Sr. Gracie Maynord, and 5-7 Jr. Akira Levy.

 

Upperman defeated Pearl Cohn 66-62 in two overtimes.  Pearl Cohn led 58-56 in regulation but Akira Levy hit a layup for Upperman with seven seconds remaining in overtime to knot the score and force overtime.  The score was tied nine times and there were five lead changes in this contest.  Upperman shot 51.2% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line.  The Bees connected on 18 of 22 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and committed four turnovers.  Pearl Cohn shot 43.5% from the field including nine of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Firebirds connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and committed seven turnovers.

 

Akira Levy led Upperman with 31 points including 11 of 13 free throws, seven rebounds, and six assists.  Abby Greenwood added 21 points and five rebounds.  Gracie Maynord recorded 11 points including three three point baskets.

 

Janiah Sandifer led Pearl Cohn with 23 points including five three point baskets.  Shawnta Shaw added 15 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and four assists.  Shanice Nelson recorded 10 points including two three point baskets.  Yaubyron Chambers chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.  Monae Mayes added five points and seven rebounds.

South Greene (35-4) vs. Clarkrange (27-11) Class A Championship

 

South Greene coach Stephen Gregg started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Lyndsey Cutshaw, 5-6 Jr. Morgan Williams, 5-10 Jr. Taylor Lamb, So. Ashlyn Reaves, and 5-4 So. Braelyn Wykle.  Clarkrange coach Lamar Rogers countered with 6-0 Jr. Hannah Garrett, 5-10 Jr. Charity Crabtree, 6-4 Sr. Kara Meadows, So. Allison Bush, and Sr. Breanna Bush.

 

South Greene outscored Clarkrange 17-7 in the third quarter on their way to a 66-57 victory.  South Greene shot 43.1% from the field including nine of 21 from the three point line.  The Lady Rebels connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and committed eight turnovers.  Clarkrange shot 62.9% from the field including six of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Buffaloes connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and committed 13 turnovers.  Clarkrange attempted 16 less shots (51-35) from the field than South Greene.

 

Taylor Lamb led South Greene with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.  5-4 Jr. Kinsley Wykle added 15 points on five three point baskets.  Braelyn Wykle recorded nine points, five assists, and three steals.

 

Kara Meadows led Clarkrange with 28 points and six rebounds.  Hannah Garrett added 11 points including three three point baskets.  Breanna Bush added nine points and Charity Crabtree pulled down eight rebounds.
