The All A Classic included four teams in 1991. The 1992 version expanded to include eight teams and in 1993 the tournament again expanded to include a full complement of 16 teams. Shelby Valley (Region 15) vs. Lexington Christian Academy (Region 11)
Shelby Valley coach Rodney Rowe started the following lineup: 5-7 Sr. Kyleigh Tackett, 5-5 So. Tori Hampton, 5-7 Sr. Kayla Newsom, 5-3 Sr. Summer Rose, and 5-4 8th Grade Cassidy Rowe. Lexington Christian Academy coach Michael Menifee countered with 5-8 Jr. Grace Combs, 5-6 So. Mackenzie Buckler, 5-7 Fr. Gracie Royalty, 5-6 So. Jaylin McClanahan, and 5-8 Jr. Bethany Selby.
This game was over early as Shelby Valley raced out to a 16-2 first quarter lead on their way to a 55-18 victory over Lexington Christian Academy. Shelby Valley shot 40.4% from the field including one of 15 from the three point line. The Lady Kats connected on eight of nine free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 26 Lexington Christian turnovers. Lexington Christian shot 13.9% from the field including zero of five from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on eight of 18 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored four points off 13 Shelby Valley turnovers.
Cassidy Rowe led Shelby Valley with 10 points, eight assists, and four steals. Kayla Newsom added 10 points, six rebounds, and two steals. 5-9 8th Grade Alyssa Elswick recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Tori Hampton chipped in with eight points, four rebounds, and three steals. Summer Rose added seven points and five steals.
Gracie Royalty led Lexington Christian Academy with six points and seven rebounds. Bethany Selby added five points and five rebounds.

Samantha Sowell led Nicholas County with 15 points and four steals. Trina Hughes added 14 points. Shelby Stafford recorded five points, six rebounds, and nine steals. 5-5 Jr. Allison Myers pulled down eight rebounds. Shelby Flanigin pulled down six rebounds and recorded four steals.

Kayla Gibson recorded six points, seven rebounds, and five assists. 5-6 So. Madison Chapman chipped in with five points and seven rebounds.
Hannah Holloman led Lyon County with 12 points and five rebounds. Allison Murphy added six points, nine rebounds, and three steals. Sophie Bingham recorded seven points, three rebounds, and two steals.

Walton-Verona shot 33.3% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc. They connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 17 Williamsburg turnovers.
Lillie Hall led Williamsburg with 18 points including seven of seven free throws, five rebounds, and five assists. Lillie Abbott added 15 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and two steals. Kayla Gibson recorded nine points and seven rebounds and the overtime period could be deemed her redemption minutes. Kayla missed key free throws late in regulation but responded big time in overtime with a field goal and two key free throws to lead the victors.
Hayley Neeley led Walton-Verona with 14 points and four rebounds. Brooke Perry added nine points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots. Emma Strunk recorded seven points and nine rebounds. 5-8 Sr. Rachel Lehkamp chipped in with six points and four rebounds.

They connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Edmonson County turnovers.
Peyton Martin led Edmonson County with 19 points including seven of nine free throws, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Caitlin Simon added 14 points including six of six free throws, nine rebounds, and four assists. Katlin Collins recorded 10 points including two three point baskets. Chanley Logsdon chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.
Allie Stone led West Carter with 20 points including two three point baskets, six of nine free throws, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Ragan Adkins added 14 points including four three point baskets. 5-4 So. Becca Nolen recorded 11 points including five of five free throws.

Summer Rose led Shelby Valley with 22 points including four three point baskets, four of four free throws, and three assists. Kayla Newsom added 11 points, six rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Cassidy Rowe recorded nine points and five rebounds. 5-9 8th Grade Alyssa Elswick chipped in with four rebounds and three blocked shots.

Edmonson County coach Kevin Jackson countered with 5-11 So. Madison Harrison, 5-7 Sr. Katlin Collins, 5-9 Sr. Caitlin Simon, 5-4 Jr. Chanley Logsdon, and 5-5 Sr. Peyton Martin.
Murray defeated Edmonson County by a score of 62-37. Murray shot 47.8% from the field including 10 of 23 from the three point line. They connected on eight of nine free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 16 Edmonson County turnovers. Edmonson County shot 32.7% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. They connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored two points off three Murray turnovers.
Macey Turley led Murray with 18 points. 5-6 Fr. Makenzie Turley added 12 points on four three point baskets. Lex Mayes recorded 12 points on three point baskets and five rebounds. Alexis Burpo added eight points, 12 rebounds, and five assists.
5-11 So. Emma Rose Vincent led Edmonson County with 10 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots. Caitlin Simon added nine points. Peyton Martin recorded six points, four assists, and three steals. 5-7 So. Lauren Balance chipped in with five points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

There were a lot of story lines about this team even before the opening tip. Rechelle Turner the previous coach at Murray resigned with a 460-178 record over the last 21 years at Murray High including the 2016 All A Classic championship to take over the reins at Murray State University and was replaced by Wayne Foust. However, there has been heartbreak at this event as they lost the 2015 title game 47-46 to Covington Holy Cross and lost in the 2017 quarterfinal 60-57 to eventual champion Monroe County. The cupboard is not bare as the Lady Tigers return the trio of Alexis Burpo, Lex Mayes, and Macey Turley who will all continue their basketball careers next year under their former coach Rechelle Turner at Murray State. Coach Foust has led his team to a 21-2 record and enters this event as the favorite.
Shelby Valley under Rodney Rowe is led by 8th Grader Cassidy Rowe and is one of the best passing teams either boys or girls I have seen at the high school level and as one of the coaches stated we are nothing without each other. This statement accurately sums up the team closeness and the true understanding of team concept.
Murray captured the championship today with a 53-40 victory but the score does not reflect the competiveness of the game. Shelby Valley led 27-22 at halftime led by 5-9 8th Grade Alyssa Elswick with eight points and Kyleigh Tackett with seven points. Lex Mayes and Elizabeth Curtis kept Murray within striking distance with seven and six points respectively. Murray came out in the third quarter and clogged the passing lanes forcing Shelby Valley to shoot from outside and dominated the quarter 13-3 to earn a 35-30 lead and extended the lead in the final quarter to earn the victory.
Murray shot 36.4% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line. The Lady Tigers connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 10 Shelby Valley turnovers. Shelby Valley shot 28.9% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Lady Kats connected on 10 of 10 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Murray turnovers.
Lex Mayes led Murray with 22 points including five three point baskets and eight rebounds. Macey Turley added 13 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Alexis Burpo recorded seven points, 13 rebounds, and three steals. Elizabeth Curtis chipped in with six points on two three point baskets. Parker Greer added five points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals with several of her big plays coming in the decisive third quarter.
Summer Rose, a diminutive guard with a big heart, led Shelby Valley with 10 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Kyleigh Tackett added nine points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Alyssa Elswick recorded eight points, five rebounds, and two assists. Tori Hampton chipped in with six points, two rebounds, and two assists. Cassidy Rowe added five points, five rebounds, and two assists. Kayla Newsom pulled down five rebounds.
