2018 4th Annual BioSteel All Canadian High School Basketball Game

This event is truly a Canadian event and will feature the top twenty four male basketball players born in 1999 or later who were either born in Canada or enrolled in a Canadian institution. Al provinces and territories will be represented either through participation or with a seat on the selection committee. The BioSteel All Canadian Game will add the BioSteel All Canadian Women’s Showcase, the BioSteel All Canadian Futures Game, Sport Chek 3-Point Shootout, and BMO Slam Dunk Competition. The Women’s game, the Future’s game, and the skill competitions will be held April 8th at the Athlete Institute Mono Ontario Canada and is all part of the Nike Skills Challenge.
The White Team defeated the Red Team 80-69 in the BioSteel All Canadian Women’s Showcase. Julia Chadwick was named MVP for the White Team while Christina Morra was named MVP for the Red Team. The White Team defeated the Black Team 98-95 to win the BioSteel All Canadian Futures Game. The White Team MVP was Kyree Thompson while Kyle Duke-Simpson was named MVP for the Black Team.
Daniel Sackey was awarded the Slam Dunk Championship while Luka Sakota captured the 3-point shooting championship. RJ Barrett was named the BioSteel All Canadian Player of the Year.

The Red Team started the following lineup: Tyrese Samuel, Noah Kirkwood, Kaosi Ezeagu, Daniel Sackey, and Quincy Guerier. The White Team countered with Emanuel Miller, Dalano Banton, Jaden Bediako, Jonathan Kabongo, and Lugentz Dort.
The White Team defeated the Red Team by a score of 147-131. White shot 53.5% from the field including eight of 34 from the three point line. They connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 59 rebounds, and scored 32 points off 18 Red turnovers. Red shot 53.4% from the field including nine of 34 from beyond the arc. They connected on 12 of 26 free throws, pulled down 49 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 16 White turnovers.
Lugentz Dort led the White Team with 34 points including nine of 11 free throws and eight rebounds and was named team MVP. Dalano Banton added 19 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Jonathan Kabongo recorded 18 points including three three point baskets, nine rebounds, and three steals. Emanuel Miller recorded 18 points, five rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Deon Ejim chipped in with 17 points and nine rebounds. Jaden Bediako added 14 points and seven rebounds. Cashius McNeilly also reached double figures with 12 points.
Quincy Guerier was named MVP for the Red Team and scored 19 points and pulled down four rebounds. Addison Patterson added 18 points and five rebounds. Daniel Sackey recorded 17 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and four assists. Jahbril Pryce-Noel also scored 17 points including three three point baskets and dished out five assists. Tyrese Samuel recorded 15 points and six rebounds. Keshaun Saunders also reached double figures with 10 points.

While the Canadians are renowned for their hockey prowess they are very, very good at basketball and are making impacts at all levels over the past several years. This was an excellent, well-run event with a very talented roster on both squads.
