Shadow Mountain (AZ) vs. University School (FL) (Boys) (Quarterfinal)

 

Shadow Mountain (AZ) coach Mike Bibby started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Antonio Reeves, 6-4 So. Shemar Morrow, 6-5 Sr. Immanuel Allen, 6-1 Jr. Jovan Blacksher, and 6-2 Jr. Jaelen House.  University School (FL) coach Adrian Sosa countered with 6-8 So. Scottie Barnes, 6-3 Sr. Trey Doomes, 6-10 Jr. Vernon Carey Jr., 6-0 Sr. Drue Drinnon, and 6-1 Jr. Logan Alters.

 

University School (FL) pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Shadow Mountain (AZ) by a score of 75-63.  The Sharks utilized their inside strength to hold a 54-38 advantage in points in the paint and enjoyed an 18-9 advantage in second chance points.  There were four ties and two lead changes in the game. 

 

University School (FL) shot 50% from the field including two of 13 from the three point line.  The Sharks connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 15 Shadow Mountain (AZ) turnovers.  Shadow Mountain (AZ) shot 38.6% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Matadors connected on 17 of 24 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 University School (FL) turnovers.

 

Vernon Carey Jr. led University School (FL) with 20 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Carey Jr. was nine of 10 from the field including zero of one from beyond the arc and two of four free throws.  Scottie Barnes added 18 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.  Trey Doomes recorded 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  5-10 Jr. Xavien Flowers chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists.  Drue Drinnon added nine points, six assists, and three steals.

 

Jovan Blacksher led Shadow Mountain (AZ) with 20 points.  Immanuel Allen added 19 points, six rebounds, and two assists.  Jaelen House recorded 12 points including eight of 10 free throws, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Findlay Prep (NV) trailed 25-18 at halftime but outscored La Lumiere 27-8 in the third quarter on their way to a 66-54 victory.  Findlay Prep (NV) shot 42.6% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Pilots connected on 17 of 24 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 19 La Lumiere (IN) turnovers.  La Lumiere (IN) shot 45.5% from the field including zero of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lakers connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Findlay Prep (NV) turnovers.

 

Kyler Edwards led Findlay Prep (NV) with 23 points and four steals.  Reggie Chaney added 16 points and four rebounds.  TJ Moss recorded seven points, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  Bol Bol added four points, 11 rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.

 

Isaiah Stewart led La Lumiere (IN) with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and two steals.  Tyger Campbell added 10 points, six assists, and four steals.  6-6 Jr. Emmanuel Miller recorded eight points and four rebounds.

Garfield (WA) coach Brandon Roy started the following lineup: 6-6 Jr. Jamon Kemp, 6-4 Jr. PJ Fuller, 6-9 Sr. J’Raan Brooks, 6-2 Sr. Edward Turner, and 6-2 Jr. Pierre Cockrell Jr.  Oak Hill Academy coach Steve Smith countered with 6-7 Sr. Keldon Johnson, 6-6 Sr. Eddy Kayouloud, 6-9 Sr. David McCormack, 6-4 Sr. Will Richardson, and 6-5 Sr. Keyontae Johnson.

 

Oak Hill Academy (VA) raced out to a 19-8 first quarter lead on their way to a 75-53 victory over Garfield (WA).  However the victory may have been costly as star forward Keldon Johnson suffered an ankle injury and left the game early and did not return.  Oak Hill Academy (VA) shot 52.4% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line.  The Warriors connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 25 Garfield (WA) turnovers.  Garfield (WA) shot 40.7% from the field including seven of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on two of seven free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Oak Hill Academy (VA) turnovers.

 

Keyontae Johnson led Oak Hill Academy with 19 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and eight steals.  Johnson was eight of nine from the field including zero of one from beyond the arc and three of four free throws.  Will Richardson added 17 points, four rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  David McCormack recorded 15 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  6-3 Sr. Akum Ahemed chipped in with 12 points.

 

J’Raan Brooks led Garfield (WA) with 15 points including two three point baskets and 11 rebounds.  Jamon Kemp added 11 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  PJ Fuller chipped in with nine points and Edward Turner recorded six points. four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  6-6 So. Marjon Beauchamp added eight points including two three point baskets.

Long Peak (UT) coach David Evans started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Jaxon Pollard, 6-5 Sr. Max Brenchley, 6-7 Sr. Jackson Brinkerhoff, 5-10 Sr. Chantry Ross, and 6-1 Sr. Steven Ashworth.  Montverde Academy (FL) coach Kevin Boyle countered with 6-10 Sr. Filip Petrusev, 6-7 Sr. RJ Barrett, 7-1 Jr. Balsa Koprivica, 6-4 Sr. Andrew Nembhard, and 6-4 Sr. Michael Devoe.

 

Montverde Academy (FL) led by 19 in the second quarter but had to withstand a furious rally by Long Peak (UT) to earn an 87-82 victory.  Lone Peak tied the score at 82-82 but called a timeout they did not have with 19.8 seconds remaining on the clock which resulted in a technical foul which unfortunately for them hampered their chances of pulling off the monumental upset.  Their comeback was fueled by 19 three point baskets which balanced out Montverde Academy’s 52-12 advantage in points in the paint.

 

Montverde Academy (FL) shot 60.4% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored nine points off six Lone Peak (UT) turnovers.  Lone Peak (UT) shot 38.2% from the field including 19 of 43 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 12 points off nine Montverde Academy (FL) turnovers.

 

RJ Barrett led Montverde Academy (FL) with 33 points including 15 of 20 free throws, five rebounds, and six assists.  Andrew Nembhard added 16 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and seven assists.  Michael Devoe recorded 15 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.

 

Steven Ashworth led Lone Peak (UT) with 29 points including seven three point baskets, six rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals.  Chantry Ross added 20 points including six three point baskets.  Jackson Brinkerhoff recorded 11 points, six rebounds, and five assists.  Jaxon Pollard chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.  Max Brenchley added nine points and five rebounds.

Treasure Hunt, 6-6 So. Kamilla Cardoso, 6-1 Jr. Esmery Martinez, and 6-1 Sr. Jazmine Massengill.

 

Hamilton Heights (TN) utilized their size advantage to enjoy a 50-18 advantage in points in the paint in a 62-49 victory over Winter Haven (FL).  Hamilton Heights (TN) shot 47.5% from the field including one of nine from the three point line.  They connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 14 Winter Haven (FL) turnovers.  Winter Haven (FL) shot 27.4% from the field including five of 23 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 21 Hamilton Heights (TN) turnovers.

 

Esmery Martinez led Hamilton Heights (TN) with 17 points, 18 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Martinez was eight of 11 from the field and one of three from the free throw line.  Elizabeth Balogun added 14 points and five steals.  Jazmine Massengill recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, two blocked shots, and five steals.  Kamilla Cardoso chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Central Valley (WA) defeated Westlake (GA) by a score of 70-57.  Central Valley (WA) shot 37.9% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  They connected on 21 of 28 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 17 Westlake (GA) turnovers.  Westlake (GA) shot 33.3% from the field including nine of 21 from beyond the arc.  They connected on eight of 20 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Central Valley (WA) turnovers.

 

Lexie Hull led Central Valley (WA) with 30 points including 10 of 11 free throws, 13 rebounds, and four steals.  Hailey Christopher added 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots.  Camryn Skaife recorded 11 points including three three point baskets.

Central Valley (WA) coach Freddie Rehkow started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Lexie Hull, 6-2 Sr. Lacie Hull, 6-0 Sr. Hailey Christopher, 5-6 Jr. Mady Simmelink, and 5-4 Jr. Camryn Skaife.  Hamilton Heights (TN) coach Keisha Hunt countered with 6-2 Sr. Elizabeth Balogun, 6-2 So. Treasure Hunt, 6-6 So. Kamilla Cardoso, 6-1 Jr. Esmery Martinez, and 6-1 Sr. Jazmine Massengill.

 

Central Valley (WA) defeated Hamilton Heights (TN) 66-61 in what many would consider an upset.  Central Valley (WA) held a 36-26 lead at halftime but Hamilton Heights (TN) outscored the Bears 17-5 in the third quarter to earn a 43-41 lead after three quarters.  Central Valley (WA) played with poise down the stretch, hit their free throws and earned the victory.

 

Central Valley (WA) shot 46.3% from the field including seven of 18 from the three point line.  They connected on 21 of 22 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Hamilton Heights (TN) turnovers.  Hamilton Heights (TN) shot 36.7% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 20 of 29 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Central Valley (WA) turnovers.

 

Lexi Hull led Central Valley (WA) with 26 points including 11 of 11 free throws, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots.  Camryn Skaife added 14 points including four three point baskets, .  Lacie Hull recorded nine points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Montverde Academy (FL) defeated University School (FL) by a score of 76-58.  The Eagles big men managed to neutralize Vernon Carey Jr. in the paint and their star RJ Barrett had a MVP performance.  Montverde Academy (FL) shot 50.8% from the field including 11 of 24 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on three of eight free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored seven points off six University School (FL) turnovers.  University School (FL) shot 39.3% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Sharks connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 11 Montverde Academy (FL) turnovers.

 

RJ Barrett led Montverde Academy (FL) with 25 points including two three point baskets, and 15 rebounds.  Michael Devoe added 21 points including five three point baskets, three rebounds, and three assists.  Filip Petrusev recorded 15 points.  Andrew Nembhard added eight points and 13 assists.  Balsa Koprivica pulled down nine rebounds and blocked two shots.
