Paul Laurence Dunbar vs. Frankfort (Boys) @ Frankfort

 

Frankfort trailed 24-14 with approximately six minutes left in the first half but went on a 17-5 run to lead 31-29 at halftime on their way to a 78-68 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar.  Frankfort shot 48.9% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line.  The Panthers connected on 25 of 36 free throws and pulled down 34 rebounds.

 

6-2 Sr. Juanya Frank led Frankfort with 22 points including four three point baskets.  6-6 Sr. John Tillman added 16 points and 12 rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Jevon Bush recorded 12 points and 6-2 Jr. Chaz Austin chipped in with 10 points.

 

6-2 Sr. Jared Gadd led Paul Laurence Dunbar with 19 points.  6-1 Sr. Grayson Shively added 11 points.  6-3 Sr. Michael Corio and 6-4 Fr. Tim Hall recorded nine points each.

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Bryce Long, 6-1 Sr. Lorenzo Williams, 6-7 Sr. Michael Moreno, 5-9 Sr. Diablo Stewart, and 6-0 Sr. Glenn Covington.  Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. countered with 6-4 So. Kole Browne, 6-1 So. Braeden Ray, 6-8 Sr. Isaiah Cozart, 5-10 Sr. Deion Cox, and 5-10 Sr. Quae. Charlton.

 

Madison Central led 33-30 at halftime but Scott County outscored the Indians 27-15 in the third quarter on their way to a 77-66 victory.  The score was tied three times and there were eight lead changes in the game.  Scott County shot 46.4% from the field including five of 18 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 33 points off 28 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 52.4% from the field including seven of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Scott County turnovers.

 

Diablo Stewart led Scott County with 24 points including two three point baskets and three steals.  Glenn Covington added 18 points including two three point baskets and three steals.  Michael Moreno recorded 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.  Bryce Long added 13 points and five steals.  Lorenzo Williams chipped in with four points, six rebounds, and four steals.

 

Isaiah Cozart led Madison Central with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Kole Browne added 19 points including five three point baskets.  Deion Cox recorded 13 points including nine of 11 free throws.

Henry Clay raced out to a 25-12 first quarter lead on their way to an 82-57 victory over Madison Southern.  Henry Clay shot 57.1% from the field including 11 of 23 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 15 of 19 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 11 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 40% from the field including seven of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 11 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Marques Warrick led Henry Clay with 21 points including three three point baskets, four of four free throws, and four assists.  5-11 Sr. Mayan White added 16 points including four three point baskets.  White was six of six from the field including four of four from beyond the arc in only 13 minutes of play.  Keaston Brown recorded 11 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.  Harris Hawkins added 10 points, eight rebounds, and two steals.

 

Trent Moberly led Madison Southern with 21 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and four assists.  6-0 Jr. Samuel Lee added 11 points including two three point baskets.

Woodford County defeated Lexington Christian Academy by a score of 63-47.  The score was tied five times and there was one lead change in this game.  Woodford County shot 41.7% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line.  The Yellow Jackets connected on 18 of 23 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 12 points off seven LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 36% from the field including two of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 10 points off eight Woodford County turnovers.

 

Brandon Cromwell led Woodford County with 22 points including nine of 10 free throws, four rebounds, and five assists.  Corey George added 13 points and eight rebounds.  Hunter Penn recorded nine points and nine rebounds.

 

Kyle Rode led LCA with 19 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Baylor Brown added nine points and Will Hacker recorded seven points.

Scott County trailed by 11 points in the first half but Scott County rallied to earn a 56-51 victory over Frankfort.  The score was tied five times and there were four lead changes in this game.  Scott County shot 34.7% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 17 of 24 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored nine points off 11 Frankfort turnovers.  Frankfort shot 37% from the field including three of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Scott County turnovers.

 

Bryce Long led Scott County with 14 points including two three point baskets and three rebounds.  Lorenzo Williams added 11 points, five rebounds, and two steals.  Glenn Covington recorded 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Michael Moreno added nine points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Diablo Stewart recorded eight points including six of eight free throws, six rebounds, and four assists.

 

6-5 Fr. Jackson Twombly led Frankfort with 15 points and four rebounds.  Juanya Frank added 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three blocked shots, and four steals.  Chaz Austin recorded seven points and five rebounds.  DaJuan Davis chipped in with three points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

Henry Clay shot a sizzling 59% from the field in a 67-57 victory over Woodford County in a game that had three ties and one lead change.  Henry Clay shot 59% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored seven points off six Woodford County turnovers.  Woodford County shot 44.7% from the field including four of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Yellow Jackets connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored seven points off eight Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Marques Warrick led Henry Clay with 19 points including three three point baskets and eight rebounds.  Harris Hawkins added 18 points including two three point baskets and nine rebounds.  Keaston Brown recorded 17 points including six of six free throws, three assists, and two steals.  Ramond Jackson added nine points including five of six free throws, four rebounds, and four assists.

 

Corey George led Woodford County with 20 points and six rebounds.  Anthony Tabor added 14 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and three assists.  Hunter Penn recorded eight points and five rebounds.  Brandon Cromwell added eight points including six of nine free throws, four rebounds, and two steals.  Benjamin Nash dished out six assists.

Henry Clay raced out to a 17-6 first quarter lead on their way to a 64-53 victory over Madison Southern.  Henry Clay shot 46.9% from the field including four of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on 14 of 16 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 29.6% from the field including six of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 20 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Kiya Thompson led Henry Clay with 18 points including five of six free throws, four assists, and three steals.  Amiya Jenkins added 15 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.  Ravion Jackson recorded 14 points and five rebounds.  Kennedy Williams added 12 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Franklin County defeated Madison Central by the score of 79-36.  Franklin County shot 48.2% from the field including 13 of 31 from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 12 of 13 free throws and pulled down 32 rebounds.  Madison Central shot 30.2% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on seven of 15 free throws and pulled down 30 rebounds.

Scott County defeated Lexington Catholic by a score of 71-35.  Scott County shot 39.2% from the field including five of 26 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on eight of 16 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 41 points off 31 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 26.2% from the field including five of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and did not score off eight Scott County turnovers.

 

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 24 points including three three point baskets, five of seven free throws, and seven steals.  Maaliya Owens added 15 points and five steals.  Kenady Tompkins recorded 10 points, nine rebounds, and four blocked shots.  5-1 So. Braylee McMath chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Malea Williams recorded nine points, 14 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Juliette Smith dished out seven assists.

 

Jay Ballard led Lexington Catholic with eight points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and two assists.  Chloe Treece added eight points including two three point baskets.  Farah Weldon recorded four points and eight rebounds.  Julia Madry also pulled down eight rebounds.

The score was tied 14-14 after the first quarter but Scott County outscored Henry Clay 13-4 in the second quarter on their way to a 58-38 victory over the Blue Devils.  Henry Clay was one of 12 from the field in the second quarter.  The score was tied four times and there were three lead changes in the game. 

 

Scott County shot 46% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 10 points off seven Henry Clay turnovers.  Scott County held a 22-8 advantage in second chance points and a 13-3 advantage in bench points.  Henry Clay shot 27.3% from the field including four of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Blue Devils connected on 10 0f 18 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 12 points off nine Scott County turnovers. 

 

Michael Moreno led Scott County with 13 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots.  6-5 Jr. Terrin Hamilton added 13 points and seven rebounds.  Bryce Long recorded 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals.  Diablo Stewart chipped in with nine points and three rebounds.  Lorenzo Williams added six points and 10 rebounds.

 

Keaston Brown led Henry Clay with 12 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Marques Warrick added nine points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Harris Hawkins recorded seven points, nine rebounds, and two assists.  Ramond Jackson added seven points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

Scott County vs. Franklin County (Girls) (Semifinal)

 

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 6-0 So. Kenady Tompkins, 5-10 Sr. Maaliya Owens, 6-2 Jr. Malea Williams, 5-5 Sr. Juliette Smith, and 5-5 Jr. Morgan DeFoor.  Franklin County coach Joey Thacker countered with 5-8 Sr. Samareah Levarity, 5-6 Jr. Jasmine Simpson, 5-10 Fr. Patience Laster, 5-4 Sr. Shannon Brunette, and 5-6 So. Brooklynn Miles.

 

Scott County survived an upset when Juliette Smith hit a free throw with 1.1 seconds to give the Lady Cardinals a 46-45 victory over Franklin County.  Malea Williams made a couple of late play on the defensive end to give Scott County the last second chance for the victory.  The score was tied 10 times and there were five lead changes in the game.  Franklin County held an eight point lead with 5:27 to go in the third quarter.

 

Scott County shot 33.3% from the field including four of 21 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored six points off seven Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 36.6% from the field including three of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Flyers connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored four points off six Scott County turnovers.

 

Malea Williams led Scott County with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Maaliya Owens added 14 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.  Kenady Tompkins recorded seven points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.

 

Brooklynn Miles led Franklin County with 17 points including nine of 12 free throws, five rebounds, and three assists.  Patience Laster added 11 points and eight rebounds.  Shannon Brunette recorded six points on two three point baskets, six rebounds, and two assists.

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 6-0 S0. Kenady Tompkins, 5-10 Sr. Maaliya Owens, 6-2 Jr. Malea Williams, 5-5 Sr. Juliette Smith, and 5-5 Jr. Morgan DeFoor.  Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford countered with 5-10 Fr. Lauren Thomas, 5-9 Fr. Amiya Jenkins, 5-10 Fr. Kennedy Williams, 5-2 Fr. Maddie Kaufman, and 5-7 Sr. Kiya Thompson.

 

Scott County earned the 11th Region Championship with an 82-42 victory over a young Henry Clay team.  Scott County shot 48.5% from the field including 10 of 24 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 12 Henry Clay turnovers.  Henry Clay shot 25.5% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Blue Devils connected on 12 of 21 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Scott County turnovers.

 

Maaliya Owens led Scott County with 19 points.  Kenady Tompkins added 14 points.  Juliette Smith recorded 13 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and two steals.  Morgan DeFoor chipped in with 12 points including three three points and eight assists.  Malea Williams added six points, 18 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  5-6 Fr. Timothi Williams recorded nine points on three three point baskets.

 

Kiya Thompson led Henry Clay with 15 points including six of eight free throws.  5-10 Sr. Grace Branchini added 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals.  Lauren Thomas recorded five points, 10 rebounds, and two assists.
